PlayStation Home had a tumultuous introduction to the world. It was first leaked to Kotaku in advance of Phil Harrison's GDC 2007 keynote, and then upstaged by the reveal of LittleBigPlanet. It underwent a series of delays, an anti-climactic public beta, and on release was greeted with tired disinterest by many in the press. The media has mostly ignored Home in spite of incremental updates and announcements that it actually had attracted a significant user base and made Sony a lot of money through virtual goods and microtransactions.
In its second year in release, Home has slowly transformed itself into a much different place than it was at launch. IGN spoke with Jack Buser, Director of PlayStation Home, at a recent press even in New York to learn more about what Home has already accomplished and how it still might become a model for the entire games industry.
Benjamin Rivers has suggested that it is “totally possible” for two of his titles — Alone With You and Home — to be ported to Nintendo Switch.
I recently published an article about beating my Steam backlog by getting organised and the first game I’ve completed with this new approach is Home.
I chose Home not because of its production values or reviews, but because, well, it’s short. I needed a game to start my new approach on the right foot and read that Home takes less than two hours to beat.
Whatever my reasons for finally installing Home, I found it to be an enjoyable yet flawed title.
Handheld Players takes a look at the PS Vita new releases in February 2018.
I can think of two things that will make Home a smashing success.
1) Let people design Home clothes and accessories and sell it through Home. People love to compare their avater to others and show of what they bought, and there aren't enough good stuff there. I think a social site called IMVU does this and bring them a shit ton of revenue.
2) Put Minis in Home with party support in mind. There's millions of people that use Home just to play some bowling and pool or watch some trailers with other people, so there's huge potential in this.
3) Give the avatar's faces some emotion/expression. They have a blank look on their faces 99% of the time.
4) Make Home easy to log in, there's too many loading screens and whatnot.
You know what, I think I'll put this in the Share blog...
Dog you know its gonna happen. Its just gonna take some time. How long? IDK, but its gonna be so sick. It evolves everyday. Its the pinnacle of social networking. Fuck I love home son.
There is no reason for me to go into Playstation Home.
But whenever i do go...like i did for the E3 event thingy, i stay there for a few hours, because it is quite fun to check out the places.
Theres lots of new kool things.
They just need to either implement it into the log-in process of PSN or...give people more reasons to want to go to Playstation Home.
Sony has 1 big update coming this year. Probably just before Move releases.
Cant wait to see what features they add.
o you still have to load each section in Home?
I havent been on home in like a year
