First Sega now Capcom won't attend Games Com 2010

Sega was the first to say, they will not attend Games Com 2010. Now Capcom follows. Community Manager Timothy Sun stated they show is open for public and they want to see the holiday season games. Since Capcom won't have anything to present, they would rather skip the Games Show.

Well if that continues they should have stayed in Leipzig. Because there everybody went and stayed...

TheLeprachaun5444d ago (Edited 5444d ago )

Well no they shouldn't have stayed in Leipzig. They're trying to make Gamescom as important (or more import than) E3, so they need the bigger and better venue.

For all these companies skipping Gamescom, just as many are pledging support. It seems to be mostly Japanese companies skipping GC, probably because it's closish to TGS time wise.

portablegaming5444d ago

And why should Cologne be a better choice? Then they should have gone do Hanover where the CeBIT is and that would had have impact.

GWAVE5444d ago

It just goes to show all you people after E3 who said "wait for Gamescom! You'll see!" are silly.

mastiffchild5444d ago

Dunno, but Nintendo had stopped showing much a while back and eventually didn't bother at all with shows in the EU. We EU residents have to accept that none of the companies really care as much about us as they do the US OR, lord knows why, Japan.

Look at the state of SCEE, look at the relative services ansd goods on offer on the PSN/Live in the EU and elsewhere, look at the dates we get our games, look at the prices we pay for EVERYTHING. The gaming industry treats us like crap-no wonder they don't want to face us! The annoying bit is that we're a massive market(the UK alone is the third biggest market in the world now)and produce a vast quantity of talent in development as well. I honestly think that companies like Capcom not bothering with Games Con is a massive slap in the face to those EU gamers who've supported them both this and other generations. Appearing should NEVER be seen solely as a way to show off new stuff(lord knows there are better ways to get your game info to people than at conference shows like this anyway)but also as a way to say thankyou to gamers for keeping them in a job.

Sadly, some companies just don't think we deserve any of their precious time despite us keeping them in work. The lack of desire to serve the EU is nothing short of insulting and really we should make it known that we don't much like it. Seriously, why is this OK? Sony are among the worst for snubbing the EU through their specially formed ineptitude branch at SCEE and even they bother with GC more than this!

MazzingerZ5444d ago

not many have enough content to fill the 3 big conventions, SONY has no problems with that...they will show easily 50% new content not present in E3 and at TGS another new 50% of fresh news...SCA, SCEE, SCEJ are 3 different monsters

Miroque5444d ago

I doubt they will show the Nintendo 3DS there then. If everybody leaves the show. Or maybe the just all give Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft the stuff and say, present this at your booth...

al-burrito5444d ago

fail... gamescom is more important than TGS i think.

True. When you think that a lot of politicians in Europe still think video games are just pure evil, these events show that it is not like that, but it lives from the support of the developers. Gamers need it! We are not bad!

Spenok5444d ago

I think thats more of an opinion. Some people think the most important event is E3 or GDC, or TGS or whatever really. I think it all comes down to the demographic that the developers are trying to aim at with each conference. TGS is more japanese games or RPGS and such. For my TGS is usually the most important.

guzman5444d ago

NYC Gamer: You're right, TGS needs more Mountain Dew, cheeseburgers and braindead Fps games to offer anything of interest to western gamers.

Capcom reveals its PC game [digital] sales overshadow console, and it's only growing

The earnings reports of Capcom's Fiscal year 2024 showcase the growth of PC over console, with 60% of game sales being made on the former.

Vits20d ago

What’s interesting is that, given how well their games sell, it’s very likely most of them fall into the 25/75 revenue split bracket. The larger ones, like Monster Hunter, are in the 20/80 bracket.

So even accounting for the vastly superior regional pricing on PC, I wouldn’t be surprised if revenue-wise from digital sales, both platforms are close, or if PC is ahead as well.

neutralgamer199220d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Yes PC is the biggest platform and it has definitely improved as a home console of sort plug and play. It's the only platform with actual freedom for gamers with modding. I was a console gamer for over 38 years and now I only play on Pc. Whether you are buying pre-built or building it yourself it's now easier than ever before to jump in

And my experience with pc gamers has been excellent, they are helpful with any questions on pc boards

FPS_D3TH20d ago

As a gamer who also loves replaying his old favorite titles, possibly with a few mods as well, I can’t imagine ever getting another console.

Profchaos20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

They spoke about resident evil and monster hunter I would actually find the monster hunter breakdown more interesting tbh as I've always felt like this game would be at home on PC

but for resident evil it's always felt like a PlayStation mainstay despite having exclusivity elsewhere likely because it was where I first played it. The game feels like it's begging to be played lights off in the loungeroom late at night or also in VR I've never been as scared as I was playing re7 in VR

dveio20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Is this really suprising? Looking at the evolution of the Switch, X|S and Playstation 5?

Eonjay19d ago

The biggest cause is probably the lack of game purchases on the Xbox platform. Also keep in mind this is only digital sales so there is a chunk of sales not being shown here.
