4GB's, what the hell an ipod shuffle has more than that.

T9X693639d ago

Yea and? The old Arcades came with 512MB, this has 4GB and built in Wi-fi for the same price. If PS3 had an arcade version they would do the same thing. Its kinda sad though because memory is so cheap, but it makes a huge price difference on both consoles.

ActionBastard3639d ago

Dun Dun Dun Dun! R2D2 to the rescue! You ever get tired?

darthv723639d ago

it is really surprising the unit will have wifi but a welcomed surprise none the less.

hmmm lets compare. 256/512mb internal memory and no wifi for $199 or 4gb internal memory and wifi for the same price.

@action: at least he had something to contribute to the subject at hand. Whats your excuse?

ActionBastard3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

I'd rather joke than get in a pissing match over 4GB darth72. 512MB or 4GB, a $199 new Arcade is a good price. Happy now mall cop?

absolutecarnage3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

You should talk. Do you ever get tired of trolling but i think i know that answer

Newtype3639d ago

A proprietary HDD for the 360 is around 100-200 dollars. That's not cheap at all just for a 120 or 250 GB HDD.

A PS3 HDD can vary, since it uses 2.5 SATA HDDs. It can be 70-80 bucks for a 320-500 GB HDD. NOW THAT'S CHEAP.

ThanatosDMC3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Actually, at fry's electronics a 500gb 2.5" is now $59.99 which sucks for me since i recently bought a 320gb for the same price at Micro Center and i threw away the receipt.

I wish we could use flash drives or something... oh yeah, I forgot we can do that now!

deadreckoning6663639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Good move by M$.

Btw, a lot of people on this thread simply AREN'T using their brains. The reason why its ONLY 4GB is to still give people a reason to buy the $250gb 360 Slim.

Think about it. Lets say M$ put 100GB, or even 60GB in this $200 Arcade unit. If there was a 60gb 360 slim at $200..how many people do you ACTUALLY believe would spend the extra hundred bux for more gigs that they won't need???? Not many. Launching a $200 360 Slim at even 10gb would have killed off the 250gb 360 Slim.

@Bigpappy- U speak the truth..yet u get disagrees. Oh man, the PS3 fanboys are pissed as hell. "Bu bu bu bu the gap will close this year". LOL, gimme a break. Fanboys, play ur games and stop worrying who gets ahead. Both the PS3 and the 360 are selling well enough to live on for the next 3-4 years and thats ALL that should matter to you...if ur a gamer :)

Information Minister3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Let's be honest here. Even with the flash drives you're limited to 36GB (16+16+4) and you still have to purchase the flash drives separately. Now, a 16GB USB drive will set you back about $30 (and that's assuming you're not going for the expensive official Xbox brand USB drives). $30x2 = $60. You have to agree that is a VERY STEEP price for 32GB. Even more so considering that you can get, at the very least, a 320GB laptop HDD for that price.

-MD-3639d ago

You are 150% correct.

Naughty Dog3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

I think 4GB is a good Idea, keeping the price cheap as possible for the casuals who only needs it to save games. 4GB is plenty for that and some media files.

Hanif-8763639d ago

I'm getting this one instead because i don't like the shiny one... matte finish is always better :-)

J-Smith3638d ago

my phone has more than 4GB LoL

Its an intro to lower the price for casuals. And it works.

Anon19743639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

They said before that the introduction of the Arcade was to pave the way for casuals at $200, at the time cheaper than a Wii. How did that work out for them? Last I checked they were quite badly outsold by both the PS3 and Wii in 2009 and are now staring down 5 back to back quarters of year over year console sales declines.

If it wasn't the price that was holding back the 360 versus the Wii last time, what difference is a slightly smaller 360 at the same price going to make? I can't see people suddenly lining up to buy the same, 5 year old 360 console because it suddenly has 4 GB, is black and has wi-fi. Does Microsoft really think these minor changes are what's been holding the 360 back versus the competition every since they had any competition, or are the problems deeper than that?

Don't get me wrong. I think the 360 is a great little unit. Hell, I'd consider buying one if I didn't already own a 360. It's a nice system for $200 and 10 times the games system the Wii is for just about the same price - but this isn't the first time the 360 has struggled to maintain positive sales growth. Last time a price cut boosted them temporarily, now they're betting a new coat of paint at the same price will get people jumping onboard. I just don't see it happening personally. And if this and their $150 camera add-on don't do it for people, what do they have left?

LoydX-mas3639d ago

With the last NPD numbers and the demand overseas since the new 360 slim released, I am pretty sure the "5 back to back of year over console sales" will be over for MS.

By the way, the hardware was always the main problem for the 360. With this new design, it looks like that may now be a thing of the past.

darthv723639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

"I can't see people suddenly lining up to buy the same, 5 year old 360 console because it suddenly has 4 GB, is black and has wi-fi."

It would no longer be the "same" 5 year old 360. it now comes with 4gb and is black and has wifi.

bviperz3639d ago

Bigger HDD don't come cheap by MS.

dizzleK3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

built in wi-fi AND multiple usb ports. on a $200 console.

game over sony, tell me again how much blu-ray actually matters lol. sorry to sound like a fanboy but jesus, wi-fi used to be a big ps3 selling point and sony stripped away usb ports.

silkrevolver3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

...gaming is about GAMES. Talk to me 6 months from now and we’ll see if Microsoft remembers that.

Jay5203639d ago

Agree if you LOL'd while reading this

Ult iMate3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

So you say, that now USB ports are selling point?
Have you played your USB ports much recently? I thought people are playing games and buy consoles for games and not for USB ports.

Ivan Drago IV3639d ago

Oh NOES! Teh USB ports.. after these last few years of the console wars it now boils down to this! TEH USB ports! thats it folks, multiple USB ports on the 360. Sony needs to call it quits now, scrap move, scrap killzone 3, infamous 2, the Last Guardian, Agent, DC universe Online, Twisted Metal.. BECAUSE IT IS NOW OVER FOR SONY! TEH USB PORTS

Jay5203639d ago

It's sad because this is how some people feel.
