Why You Should Pre-Order Guild Wars 2

When Guild Wars first launched it transformed the way people played and paid for MMOs. NCSoft set out to create a high quality free-to-play mmo, which was something unheard of at the time. Shortly after launch Guild Wars was a huge success with millons of new players logging into their free-to-play accounts questing with their friends. To this day and a few expansion packs later Guild Wars is still one of the first names to come up in a conversation of MMOs. NCSoft out did themselves with Guild Wars; is it possible to do this all over again with Guild Wars 2?

GW was one of the only games to have rivaled WOW in terms of content and accessibility. And, in my opinion, to have EXCEEDED it in terms of game-play. The PVP was drop in/ drop out and incredibly balanced. The graphics were sublime, the cut-scenes were plentiful and well made. Heck, you could even play the majority of the game - including - instances solo. Yes, I know MMMOs exist because of their "social" elements, but the fact that you can solo most content should you choose to was really quite brilliant. Not to mention that the storytelling in GW is still pretty much unmatched by any MMO out there.

GW2 looks to improve over the first in every way. Read up on the latest IGN interviews if you really want to get excited. They're doing away with the standard healer/ DPS/ tank formula. And there are not just professions, but 'hobbies' that your character can undertake. The world is much more dynamic - I know that's an industry buzz/ bullshit term, but in this case it appears to be true. The team at ArenaNet are doing some pretty revolutionary stuff for the genre.

I can't wait!

This whole year, I have been watching GW2's website and looking at the classes and the new game's features.. and just to see what they have done, out right rapes WoW. Plus, you only have to buy the game once, with no subscription.. it's just amazing what the GW staff did on this one. And I'm a GW veteran, I've beaten Prophocies, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North... about 900 hours logged on my xfire account from GW... can't wait to play GW2..

Oh yea, and I also saw the "there will be no healer class".. and I thought that that shows how much they are thinking about this game. To make the game so cohesive that there is no need for a healer, and you are so self efficient, means they have to be almost perfect with every persons and monsters strengths and weaknesses.. to be honest, the who process that they have gone through so far has taken my breath away.

I'm still debating between this and Final Fantasy XIV. I really want Guild Wars 2 but I would rather play it on my PS3. I don't know we'll see when it comes out.

Guild Wars wont be out until at least next summer. I'm sure you can squeeze in almost a year of Final Fantasy 14. Guild Wars 2 looks much better in my opinion; they are doing a lot of innovating and the gameplay looks WAY better and faster paced. Plus, no monthly fees. Can't lose with that.

This site, however, sounds like something written by GameStop. There's no reason to pre-order this game, especially not right now. Most MMOs suck at the start and have a lot of issues for the first few weeks, so pre-ordering MMOs is kinda meh. Plus, this game's release date is pretty far off, no point in pre-ordering it now.

I agree. Guild Wars 2 does look more promising but I don't have the computer to run it properly. I would much rather play on my PS3 with a keyboard and mouse.

GW2 isn't coming to PS3, if I read your comments correctly.
