Vanquish is the last game from Platinum, where will they get the hype from after that?

And why won't they bring the samurai Yakuza game? It actually looks great.

They also need to reboot Phantasy Star and Shining games, they used to be great franchises in the past, but mediocre sequel after mediocre sequel killed them off.

Way I see it they need better management…Badly.

Akagi5446d ago

I agree that they need to sort their managerial department. I also think they need to create new IPs instead of clinging to their badly beaten dead horses.

SKUD5446d ago

*cough* SONIC *cough*

Natsu X FairyTail5446d ago

Wait wait wait. VANQUISH IS PLATINUM GAMES LAST GAME???

What they hell. They've been putting quality game for a minute!

bAyonetta and em!!

Krimmson5446d ago

Unfortunately, quality doesn't always mean profit and Bayonetta didn't do that good, sales wise.

It wasn't a complete flop but neither version broke a million.

Game-ur5446d ago

@Natsu X FairyTail

It's only their last commitment to Sega, Platinum are independent, the deal was 4 games only. They may self publish after that, renew the deal or find a new publisher.

sikbeta5446d ago

The answer is in that picture...Yakuza!

camehlheon5447d ago

Want me to worship Sega ? Bring back the succesful series like Streets of Rage, (and please don't make it like that recent Golden Axe, oh man what a waste !) and such games.

BubblesDAVERAGE5446d ago

I would love to see a sequel ot a old beat em up...but keep it beat em up...u recall fighting force 2...wtf were they thinking...the first one was fun though

tunaks15447d ago (Edited 5447d ago )

sega has been pretty good on the wii, at least with publishing
HOTD:OK
Conduit
MadWorld
Conduit 1 & 2
Sonic Colors
Ghost Squad

Mahr5446d ago

All those games are counter-balanced by the half a dozen average-to-poor Sonic games and Tournament of Legends, though.

If Sega were at all interested in being a good publisher on the system, Wii would be getting a sequel to Overkill instead of another High Voltage Con-job.

DA_SHREDDER5446d ago

I will tell you why they suck. They make AAA games like Skies of Arcadia and Im having withdraws till this day. Oh and they didn't publish Armada 2. Sega, you fuckin suck a big one.

GeoramA5446d ago

We got Yakuza 3 this year, and Yakuza 4 is coming to the US next year.

They're alright in my book.

Infernostew5446d ago

I'm glad Sega is showing Yakuza some love for once but you know they'll release it during an awful month or week and then blame their fans for not buying the game. Sega of America really need to get their act together but at least they're localizing Yakuza 4 but not after dumping Yakuza 3 and Resonance of Fate in a very crowded month.

Atlus coming in strong for Sega thankfully

CrimsonWing6935d ago

What about the Yakuza series and Sonic?

_Decadent_Descent34d ago

I like what's on their legacy IP list, but there are still many more franchises they could revive. Shining Force and Chakan come to mind.

The Dreamcast was the biggest gamble and way ahead of its time.

OtterX36d ago

I wish we lived in the Alternate Timeline where Sega was still a dominant force in the console space and it hadn't been Microsoft.

Deeeeznuuuts35d ago

I've always said this, would much prefer SEGA, such a shame.

blacktiger34d ago

this was all part of the plan to give Microsoft the spot

chicken_in_the_corn34d ago

Would be interesting to see what they would do for a modern console.

Saturn was a fantastic piece of kit... they just went a little too ambitious with its dual CPU setup. which turned a lot of developers off (at the time). The homebrew community have done some amazing work many years later, thanks to multichip experience. It is still the best platform for arcade fighters and shmups of all time. Dreamcast is a close 2nd though.

Profchaos35d ago

Yeah it was a interesting decision especially when looking at how dual CPU is considered a root cause of why the Jaguar was a failure.

Also the hardware rendered four sided polygons where the standard was three if they kept with triangle polygons I feel the systems development would have been easier to work with and we would have seen more third party ports in the west.

I think it was a victim of its time more than anything it saw huge success in Japan but the leadership and internal turmoil in the west meant games were not getting localised along with a focus on arcade like games were the PlayStation and later the N64 were pushing more in depth experiences over coin munching high score driven games.

Knightofelemia35d ago

I still enjoy my Saturn it was the first console I mowed lawns for and saved up for to purchase. I went so far as to purchase a used Saturn to run off an SD card. I even have a second Dreamcast modded to run off an SD card as well.
