Tiger's Wood Hinders Sales

Ex: This year has been one hell of a ride for golfing's golden child, and if the latest figures on EA's Tiger Woods '11 prove anything, it's that a poor reputation, will destroy your sales. Tiger Woods PGA Tour '11 sold only 32% of what previous games raked in.

I would like to think its also a lot to do with gamers staying away from the EA online pass system which i certainly object to, not forgetting the absurd state of DLC on a game like this. Selling completed course that fit on the disc and should be on the disc for an incredible price, and they cant even be integrated into the main career mode.

It's not because of TW at all. It is the stupid Online pass and the $10 courses that make me REFUSE to get the game. I bought all but 2 courses for 09 and to upgrade would be to give up on the DLC I already bought. Using it with the move sounds nice, but I will wait until it is closer to $25 used.

Exactly, PantherDST. I have 2008 version and not bothered about any newer ones as there isn't enough changes in the games. I don't really care about what he's done, that doesn't put me off buying the game. Its the lack of updates in the games.

It has nothing to do with Tiger, I think gamers are tiring of buying the same game with 1 or 2 new features every single year. As noted above EA is also out of control with DLC. I am all for extending the value and playability of a title but EA gouges on day 1. It would be cheaper to go to an MMO/subscription model with the game. If they did that and included all of the courses it might be worth it.

I have 2010 and it is a pretty cool title. I see no reason whatsoever to get the 2011 version. I was not that impressed with the Move demo from E3. It looked tacked on and showed significant lag. I will wait for the final verdict though. That might get me to purchase.

100% agree. S'not ALL down to Mr Woods. EA are too greedy with their DLC on this and another couple of titles (20-30 DLC's on day of release is blatant abuse of customers patience and should be included in the final product). It needs a completely new look and feel to refresh it.
I'm still on 2009 and won't update it until this happens!

Its all because of Tiger Woods. A game simply does NOT lose over 2/3 of its sales in one freaking year. This has EVERYTHING to do with Tiger Woods.

Or people aren't buying it because its the same game as previous two years and we're not spending $50 on a minor update. Plus another $25 on DLC that should be in the commercial product anyway. If some footballer I hated was on the front of FIFA or PES, I'd still buy it if it was a good game. And have over the years. I'm buying a game, not a cover personality. Frankly EA (and any other company) are wasting their money with me on 'headlining' a game. Couldn't care less. Rightly or wrongly.

I think sales are being hindered due to the fact that the majority of people who play the game are women and seeing that he cheated on his wife I think women are taking a stand.
