Rumors have been running wild concerning the prospect of Sony morphing its handheld into an all-in-one media device, including a cellphone. Pachter sees the situation different: “I don’t see it becoming a phone at all,” he said.

Thats great! So that means its actually gonna happen then. Ha! We all know that things happen exactly the opposite of what he says so , there you have it people. PSP2/PS4 confirmed.

seriously dudes clueless jus keeps putting out these baseless "prediction" or says the blatantly obvious...

Conloles3109d ago

Pachter's right for once, Sony won't turn the PSP into a phone when they're offering Android and Windows Phone 7 on their upcoming phones.

why would they even bother doing this...when you buy your PSP, its dont need to pay a monthly fee to make the system functional...then there is the carrier, which one do you choose, or do you make the phone accessible to all...then there is the issue of buying games...that plus the monthly fee would not be a good business the majority of iphone games are cheap, whereas psp games brand new fetch up to $40

I have no idea why people insist on making the next PSP into an iphone clone.

Keep 3g and the phone stuff out of portable gaming handhelds please.

I would love to play multiplayer online games on the go.. 3G is welcome in my book.

There is nothing wrong with that If Sony can make a Portable Gaming Device with Mobile Phone features/capabilities, so the PSP would be gaming device with more features, that's a Great thing...

Noctis Aftermath3109d ago

3g connections are available everywhere right? oh wait..

3g connections are free right? oh wait....

3g connections have low ping right? oh wait...

Sony wants to get revenge on Apple and make money.

I'd buy one.

Raoh3109d ago

awesome news.. so that means the psp phone should be announced very soon.

running android i hope.

RageAgainstTheMShine3109d ago (Edited 3109d ago )

That's the all-in-one solution device.
60 million PSP units against the 100+ million DS is unprecedented success already. Time for round 2, fight!
Google+Sony FTW!

Why are they taking the Iphone/Ipod/Ipad route ? i mean, why not stick to doing what they do best, portable console game experiences. Add a second stick and possible L2/R2 shoulder buttons, update the visuals (a PS2.5 if you will) and viola !

Well if you can cater to more people that would mean better sales. I don't know, Nokia tried doing this and it didn't work out to well. I can see something like this actually succeeding down the road when electronics get superior/better/compact. I figure if you can somehow transform a phone into a psp and vice versa it would/might actually work. Until then it can't be done, at least to what we would call a true gaming handheld that would work as a normal phone and not be bulky.

This is a good thing a not a bad thing. I seriously can't wait or the PSP 2.

Well Nintendo announced and shocked the world with 3DS awesomness so hopefully Sony would do the same very soon (TGS maybe) if not then it's looking a bit sad and pathetic for the PSP's future.
