At 21 years old I decided it was time to play Pokemon again. I don't know what happened, I woke up one morning and had the urge to bust out my dusty DS Lite and raise an awesome team of Pokemon. This is my experience with Pokemon Soul Silver so far.
I honestly didn't think I could have fun with Pokemon anymore. I'm surprised the formula is still entertaining as an adult.
I use to think the same thing, when I was 10
I'd love a full HD pokemon blue/red/yellow. I'd give my right arm.
HD red/blue/yellow has been already made. its called fire red and leaf green
Pokemon is stale. They have not done a good job of evolving (no pun intended) the basic battle system and the basic quest structure. I'd play a Pokemon game if the battles werent' (in essense) the same thing as Pokemon Blue/Red and if I didn't have to run around and win 8 gym battles...again.
They still haven't made a real MMO for pokemon.
if they did, i guarantee you everyone will go get a Wii or the platform they release it on. lol
Seriously if someone said to me... "I'm 21 and I still Enjoy Pokemon Games" I would think... Get a life you loser but since this is a gaming site.... It's okay.
I have never watched the cartoon or had any involvement with Pokemon when I was younger, but the game is actually pretty fun. The formula of collection, leveling, and fighting is pretty compelling. I mean it's basically just virtual cock fighting, but its still fun. The only thing that bothered me was the design of some of the creatures and the limited amount of them. Who wants to fight with a creepy looking clown?
If someone said that to me, I'd tell them the same thing about them. Honestly, if someone went out of their way to insult me and tell me what my hobbies shouldn't be, then they're the bigger loser. I don't play Pokemon, but I respect those that do and I have no right to tell them to get a life for enjoying their hobby. If you personally do think that people are losers if they play Pokemon, then I would tell you (besides my previous comment) that you are a loser for posting comments on a web site full of people you will never meet and in all likelihood, never talk to in your life, and on a POKEMON RELATED article none the less. But saying pokemon fans and comment posters are losers, are both incredibly stupid things to say, so if you are saying pokemon fans are losers, then I think you should take a look in the mirror.
Thank you for that-Seriously
Well um .... good for you..
I'd say you can still play Pokemon and have a life... just like you can play any game and have a life. The only thing that makes the fact that Pokemon is still enjoyable as an adult strange is that it is a franchise aimed at kids. Underneath it's kiddy exterior there is some epic strategy to Pokemon though.
It's actually quite addictive, but over the years they've gone sloppy with their design in my opinion. There are new features added, but nothing substantial. Nevertheless, it looks like black and white will offer that change.
i myself lost all interest in pokemon after sapphire and ruby, but a mate of mine still loves it, when i see him playing i do give him evil eye, but if sales keep bringing them out.
Haven't played a Pokemon game since the original silver, I'm planning on black & white to be my return to the series
and you know what i don't give a damn what any of you people think bad of it.it's my money my choice.
Nintendo milked the living hell out of pokemon
It's a well known fact that Pokemon milk is both delicious and nutritious.
It has yet to change in 21 years. It plays the same and has the same story. Save the professor choose one of 3 pokemon learn to catch pokemon main bad guy appears and you must defeat him travel to first gym and win beat all gyms and get to pokemon league to beat them travel to new island or section on the map where you battle a legendary pokemon Then other stuff happens.
if the game is not broken why fix it, that story, battles and run around is what make the game fun
I dont play pokemon still is because its only on the DS which I have no intention on buying becausae doesnt appeal to me like it did when I was a kid. If they made a pokemon MMO for PC/360 id be all over that. Play with other people capture pokemon around and battle people on the spot etc that be cool and could be really a HUGE project when they make that ill get back to pokemon.
I would rather have bad ass monsters rather than pokemon for the idea you laid out. To each their own I guess though. I couldn't get into pokemon when I was child, there is no way it is going to happen as an adult.
I had the red version and after some convincing (pokemon wasnt popular then) i managed to get my friend to buy the blue version so we could trade. The region of kanto brought me alot of good childhood memories. Then i bought gold and my friend bought silver. We enjoyed the new jhoto region, new pokemon, the return of the original ones, and new stat boosting abilities but the return to kanto made the game that much better. Then.....nintendo ruined the franchise for me. Little did i know that gold was the last time i would ever see kanto or jhoto or any of the pokemon that i had grown attached too. Instead we got a new region and character (thats ok). Then we got all new pokemon (cool thats good). But none of the old pokemon were in this game (not cool). The new art direction was utter crap with the pokemon looking syntetic and some of them were just downright stupid. Its like the artist were ordered to crank out as much pokemon as they could as fast as possible. How can the original pokemon have a better design and polish than the old ones? Furthermore we got a new breeding option which also severely lacked compared to the stat boosting berrys of gold. So i left and never looked back. Each iteratoin after was the same formula. New character, new pokemon, no returning older pokemon, new region, battle 8 gym masters, and no innovative ways to farm to boost pokemon skills. Its a good game for the kiddies but us old school gamers that played the originals have jumped ship.
I totally agree about the new Pokemon, a lot of them are pretty stupid looking. I kind of wish they just stuck with the original 150. Another cool idea would be to include kanto and jhoto with every version along with whatever new region they create.
I can still enjoy pokemon. I'm 25. Not going to lie. Nostalgia? maybe, but in case, pokemon games are very carefully designed. They can be fun casually and yet have huge depth, keeping the dedicated player happy. You'll be surprised how much you don't know about pokemon.
even the cool jocks played it, the ones that weren't dicks. right before D/P were coming out. they brought their old gameboys and made a challenge of who can catch all of them. then they also played D/P B/W seems cool. they have the breathing animation which looks cool. i'll get it, like i get 1 pkmn game when they come out. as stale as it is, it works and sells.
Of course it is...who's been saying it wasnt?
