Retro Fusion takes a look at games over history and asks the question of the article title. Well are they?
Not that many seem to be even trying these days.
Too true, killing terrorists and dethroning corrupt rulers is getting a little tired. I suppose that's why games like Bioshock and Metal Gear Solid are so refreshing, if only because the attention payed to the narrative is so overarching. Uncharted 2's story was compelling, but had nowhere near the amount of complex interactions (and philosophical meandering...) that those other two games had. Then again, Uncharted's story was better than most just with a treasure hunting plot, so who knows.
I agree. Games can and have proven to be a good story telling medium.
Yeah, it depends on the game.
I had enteractive stories for my kids on PC at a very early age (1 to 1 1/2). Now they read many books and are at the top of their classes in almost every subject.
