Could Battlefield 1943 PC Finally Launch in July?

Ex: With each passing month, PC gamers are beginning to witness an increasing games drought as more and more developers shift their resources and budgets to consoles. Titles like Call of Duty which saw birth and massive popularity on PC's now pledge their allegiance to Xbox 360 and PS3.

Will Battlefield 1943 PC ever see the light of day? Fans anticipating the PC version have been left in a perpetual state of confusion for months. But, despite the game being MIA in most digital retailer's databases, there could still be hope.

I don't really get the point of even bothering with a release this late unless they completely remake Battlefield 1942 in the Frostbite engine.

It it would have been released leading up to BFBC2 it would've been great, but I can't see a whole lot of attention being paid to the game a year after it was released on consoles.

killyourfm5109d ago

100% agree...but I imagine the people who've already paid for the game are paying attention to it. Heh, most likely because they feel ripped off.

"PC gamers are beginning to witness an increasing games drought as more and more developers shift their resources and budgets to consoles"

-lol

Starcraft 2 anyone.......

The media is retarded....PC gaming is the true platform....
Consoles are to communism what
PC gaming is to liberty

Look at the steam sale right now.
I can save enough money on games to build 2 gaming PC's in one day of sales.
My ps3 plays blurays and god of 3 and uncharted 2.
My 360 was good for halo 3 and gears 1 (2 was trash imo)
other than that it is a dust collector.

Long live PC
The peoples gaming system.

killyourfm5108d ago (Edited 5108d ago )

Yamzilla, you're welcome to continue being delusional, but the cold truth is that PC gaming isn't nearly as prolific as it was only a few years ago, and developers ARE increasingly treating consoles as their lead platform.

Yes, yes, Starcraft II. Can you name a few more?

Here's some that SHOULD be leading the charge on PC: Crysis 2, Rage, BattleField 1943...

Besides, your argument is a little thin. The truth is in the sales #'s.

silent h3ro5107d ago (Edited 5107d ago )

Elemental: War of Magic, The Sims 3 expansions, Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead, Crysis 2 (lead on PC), Portal 2 (lead on PC), Civilization V, Shogun 2: Total War, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Gothic 4, The Witcher 2

You would be crazy to think the PC as a gaming platform is irrelevant.

yamzilla5108d ago (Edited 5108d ago )

Here's some games consoles won't get to play;

Diablo 3
The Witcher 2
APB
Arma 2 operation arrowhead
Jumpgate evolution
Civ 5

...those are just a few I could think of that drop this year....

How many exclusives come out in the next year for each console?

I'm sorry about your down syndrome but.....PC gaming accounts for more revenue and profit world wide than all 3 major consoles combined!!!

Sony and MS are just now getting out of the red.

World of Warcraft alone makes more money than the bottom 90% of all console games created this gen!!!

There are something like 26 million steam users.
Amazon PC sales

Direct2Drive
Impulse
Direct purchase digi download from all major publishers.
Walmart
Bestbuy

PC is SHITTING on your favorite console....

Sorry...but true

killyourfm5108d ago

...and you can keep naming SINGLE games to defend PC with, while I can name dozens that will drive people to consoles. Look, I play games. I have all systems including tons of great PC titles. Not gonna waste time arguing with you further. Ignorance is bliss.

yamzilla5108d ago

going back to the Atari 2600....

I just don't like to see the best one (PC) get blasted.

Everything else besides a PC game at stunning 1920x1080p with at LEAST 8x anti aliasing on a perfectly calibrated 50" plasma screen is a sacrifice....I'll do it for a great exclusive....uncharted 2 did look tasty....but damn it would of looked a hell of a lot better on PC!!!

Vip3r5103d ago

I'm looking forward to this. I pre-ordered it for free with the £10 cokezone vouchers. Just hope my PC can run it.

EA Hiring Ex-Military Personnel to Help Build Next Battlefield Game via "Hiring Our Heroes" Program

EA has hired ex-military personnel in order to help shape the next Battlefield game as part of the Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) program.

OtterX7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

Why don't you Hire Your Old Dev Team who brought us the brilliance of Battlefield Bad Company 2 while you're at it. It was more exciting than anything recent in the Battlefield series. It just needs to be updated to reach modern times, but it was so great at its core.

just_looken7d ago

This would be nice but that team has tossed out the finals and has arc raiders on the back burner
https://www.pcgamer.com/ex-...

20 thousand still play the final's
https://steamcharts.com/app...

Why get slapped around by ea when you already have something going on.

What the next battlefield needs is a step back simple functional not a live service and smaller player servers than 2042. Just make it like battlefiled 3 with bad company destruction just something simple

But they already killed off ridgeline games that had ex halo/cod devs so no singleplayer unless they make another dev team for it.

It's what made zipper and slant six awesome. They had military vets working for them, no just as consultants, but as developers as well. I wish Sony never closed them, MAG 2 or an update to MAG and a new socom is much needed.

just_looken6d ago

Older ps3 battlefield titles did the same even went to the range to get sound files.

But all these titles we are talking about were on the ps3 a console so powerful it offered free mp and games did not need 4 levels of payment plans even more crazy was the player size of mag's games.

TheColbertinator6d ago

A return to the golden age of Battlefield seems so far away now

Str8Chaos746d ago

Sadly I think you are correct. They just don’t get it. They will do their live service game with its Battle Royale and fail at both.I hate being so negative, but I have little faith in EA at this point.

There are no "thoughtful" ads in video games, EA

There are no thoughtful ads in Video Games, EA. Leave them be.

I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.

But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.

Hofstaderman35d ago

EA can thoughtfully eff themselves.

Makersbreath235d ago

EA coming back for the crown of being perceived as the worst company in gaming.

Chocoburger35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

One of my favorite series is the THPS franchise, and it was packed with ads, but it didn't bother me. Posters for skateboard companies, JEEP, and Nokia phones. It did sort of fit in with the game world, but that was the past, these days ad would be intentionally intrusive or unskippable loading screen type of imagery. Ugh, I know EA would do it in a horrible fashion. Screw them.

Report: Sexual Misconduct Investigation Conducted at EA, Suspects Named and What They Did Revealed

EA senior staff has been investigated for sexual misconduct involving female coworkers, and these said people have been named publicly.

isarai41d ago

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga41d ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

MrBaskerville39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

Microsoft did, Phil Spencer played a minor part. He instigated the buyout that led to Kotick escaping all his controversies while getting a golden handshake.

Someone on Twitter calculated that the people hired in Tango and Arkane Austin could get a decent salary for roughly 17 years for the money Kotick was paid.

InUrFoxHole38d ago

Yeah some thing tells me Kotics $ was already guaranteed before MS made the deal. As for the studios... Let's be honest here... none of those studios made system sellers.

XiNatsuDragnel41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

MrBaskerville39d ago

Then they shutdown Codemasters and studio behind Jedi Survivor.

Atleast they could hardly do much damage that EA hadn't allready done. EA has shut down most of their studios by now.

ravens5241d ago

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_41d ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

MrBaskerville39d ago

That's the thing he mentioned about not being a creep at all.

KwietStorm_BLM41d ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka40d ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_41d ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.
