Red Dead Redemption marred by "Free XP" Glitch on PS3

I play all my mulitplats on PS3 over 360 cause I like trophies over the gamerscore. Am I a fanboy?

I find trophies and gamerscore both ridiculous

Sure they're NICE, and I love that feeling of accomplishment but if they interference with the game (by making me change the way in which I would normally play it to get something) then forget it.

I find trophies and achievements very fun.
They do change the way I play games.
NORMALLY, I wouldn't go and try to be a Public Enemy in RDR for more than 10 mins.
It was super fun, but I wouldn't have thought of it.

They are design to add new experiences or things you WOULDN'T"T do otherwise.

I know alot of people who'd miss out of great stunts or fun things to do because there wasn't a trophy for it.

These things extend my gameplay (bang for my buck) alot.
It's an incentive..

Say, I wouldn't try to get 10 knifes in a row in RDR.. normally atleast!
but the challenge is half the fun.

I understand why people see no value in them, because I dont either.
I see the re-playability they offer.

And I see no incentive in playing in a way I don't enjoy.
A game can be total crap but if it's fun then it's a great game

Haze, for example, despite being critically destroyed, was a fun co-op game to play! That is of more value to me personally, than the graphics of Killzone 2/Crysis/Uncharted 2, or the gameplay mechanics of Little Big Planet.

Technically, they may be superb, but ENJOYMENT is what a real game is about. (not saying those games weren't fun but that those individual factors aren't the things which make them so great)

My mate got the opposite to this glitch. His XMB froze whilst playing the new Co-Op missions with me and after resetting his PS3 and joining me again. ALL his stats had been wiped. He was a level 43, nows hes a level 1. As you can guess, hes a bit pissed.

Anyone else had this happen, or even heard of it happening before?

WTF I look forward to this DLC, sit down and up till now from 7 I haven't gotten the DLC to work!!!

First I got into a match, everyone was invisible and so I quit and went to another one. But Now I'm stuck in the loading screen! I keep quiting and I keep getting stuck in the loading screen!

Do you have PS3 or Xbox 360 version? I have the 360 version and have had no problems at all, I even did 5/6 missions with not a single glitch or issue :/

When I try to load free roam I get a MSG saying you can't sign in and then they redirect me to another free roam

I'm having this exact same problem I'm going crazy thinking it's my Internet it would just stay at the loading screen for like 30 mins +

Go into single player, then from there go into a private match, then press the back/select button and you will access the gametype menu and go down to cooperative mode and invite someone. I'm on Xbox it worked for me but I do not know about PS3.

yeah because this is the first time software has ever malfunctioned on you. technology screws up sometimes. its a fact of life get used to it

Go to single player, and then from the start menu, go to multiplayer.

Same issues as you, did it ^^ and it worked every time.

Hopefully they fix it soon.

This explains alot, I thought it was just me at first....Now I know why half the people I've seen in free roam are in legendary now...

I noticed the non horse thing earlier. Didn't know this was widespread. These aren't the only issues either. I couldn't even complete a coop mission because it keeps freezing. The hell happened, R*?

Also people are legendary because the games been out for a while now. If you dont have legendary by now then you aint playing the game, or you suck lol

IN the x360 version everyone was lvl 5 prestige max legendary in less then a week without even haveing to grind or anything because of the glitches which still arent fixed

no that was from people modifying their game saves which is ridiculously easy to do now on the 360. not sure about the ps3 but its probably easy to do on it too.

Off topic, but I have a firmware idea for Sony. Being able to restart the game without doing "Quit game" and starting it over. Just a simple "restart disc" option... Like the PS1 and PS2 had. Because RDR keeps hanging on every other loading screen.

Maybe I'm missing something and this exists...

Or maybe R* should fix their game...

The PS3 version looks so weak, have you seen the RED DEAD
MOVIE?(not really) those are the 360 graphics, it looks so
realistic. PS3 version only looks good once you go into the snowy mountains, but still the 360 version of that part looks about 1000 times better.

Exactly, my point is that game "journalists" really need to stop over hyping everything. Neither game was a masterpiece. MW2 was an ok game, RDR is a good game, but they are a long way from masterpiece status, those only come around once and a while.

yeh no matter what free roam i switch too, i still get enemies at gang hideouts, is there any chance someone could add me and let me onto their free roam session?

The glitch only works if someone who joins a coop match, leaves then joins a free roam game, go to a gang hideout and hit replay continuously.

People on the server I'm on are conversing about how it works.

I just joined a free roam right as I started up my game and it works for me, only works at some places though, like Twin Rocks and Tumbleweed, tumbleweed gives me 500 if you put it on expert aiming

If you go to online private match, then go to Soloman's Folly, you can just press left on the d-pad over and over and get 400 XP every 8 seconds or so if you have expert targetting mode selected.

If you are having problems getting it to work, make sure you fast travel from someplace (I did from Macfarlane Ranch), but DONT set the waypoint exactly on the hideout. Make it a little south of Soloman's Folly on the main road. Just helped a buddy do it as well. This is on PS3 by the way, not sure about the 360 version.

I tired it and it didn't work. I road a horse most of the way down there too. I hit left on the D-pad and nothing happen. So I just started shooting the bad guys.....
