Ripten Review: Two for the Price of One – Split/Second and Blur

Ripten reviewer Gavin Bard compares and contrasts recent racing titles Blur and Split/Second and finds it easier than one would think. Not letting the methamphetamine soaked action get to him, however, proves to be a little bit more difficult.

Nostradavis5476d ago

Gavin has got to be one of the funniest review writers out there. Sure he doesn't conform to writing reviews in ways that score aggregation sites may like but who cares. If you don't take the time to read it that is your own fault.

Stunt5476d ago

Personally, I enjoy Blur the most. Split/Second is good, as well, though.

Nostradavis5476d ago

I enjoy the spiky hair in Stunt's avatar.

LightFantastic5476d ago

Yeah I figured I'd make it a double review to go with the theme and because I've got such a huge backlog of games to get through. I think I'm backed up to like January or something ridiculous.

wakash5476d ago

Yea, Blur is the better game I think.

LightFantastic5476d ago

I think it blows Split/Second away when it comes to multiplayer functionality, but I was just way to in love with Split/Second's whole reality-show-explosions thing.

I just want another review in the form of a poem, like your Rogue Warrior one.

LightFantastic5476d ago

Haha, I need to find a game as poetic as Rogue Warrior was. Just truly beautiful dialog that game was.

While i appreciate the gesture.... all of these retro classics have been made available everywhere else. I am hoping to see some other Activision properties make their way out of the shackles of the 5th, 6th and 7th gen. Licensing be damned... bring back the Transformers Cybertron games.

P_Bomb26d ago

Love the Cybertron games! TF games have been shit lately. Would love to see that era revisited. I even did the multiplayer!

MrBaskerville26d ago

Is the retro classics for all consoles?

Obscure_Observer26d ago

Seriously, this is the best generation of Xbox ever!!!

We can´t catch a freaking break from awesome games arriving all the time!!!

Deathdeliverer26d ago

It’s a HELL of a game. If you like JRPGs in the family of Persona, you will be in heaven… that is until you hear the various battle music…. then you’ll be somewhere BEYOND heaven!

Just finished Clair Obscur. This should be fun.

Only a big company that has interest in gaming like Microsoft or Tencent could have acquired Activision. Extremely low interest rates at that time certainly helped.

Not exactly sure that a merger with EA would’ve benefited any of their franchises or gamers. I imagine it would’ve been like the activision blizzard one were each publisher retains their own identity. So Activison-Blizzard-EA. But who knows.

fsfsxii124d ago

If it was owned by EA, COD could’ve disappeared a looong time ago. They have no clue how to manage franchises.

Gamingsince1981110d ago

It's a shame EA didn't buy them then, COD should die, it's past its prime and has been since black ops 2, I started playing it when cod 4 mw first came out and it has been downhill since.

thank goodness we dodged that landmine 😒
