Castlevania: Lords of Shadow producer Dave Cox explains why the game won't be coming to the Wii or DS.
I don't know how well a Wii version would have turned out, but the 2D Castlevania games on the DS have been fantastic. I really hope we see at least one more of those for the system or a few games on the 3DS.
I'd say there's no doubt Castlevania will one day appear on either DS, Wii or 3DS...
"I don't know how well a Wii version would have turned out" If Castlevania: Judgement is any indication, not well.
Good call :P
what? Thats the most lamest excuse anyone can give.
I agree. I understand that they want to make a mature action Castlevania on the 360 and PS3, but all the 2d GBA and DS Castlevanias have been great and not once did I think it was some sort of family version.
Thats why there's absolutely no Castlevania games on either platform and that's also why there's no M rated Wii or DS games.... Oh wait!
Exactly. Order of Ecclesia isn't exactly tailor-made for children, considering the more demonic themes of the game (Attaching glyphs to Shanoa's back for incantations) and the rather brutal difficulty. Not to mention that priest... you know the one if you've played it.
"We didn’t want to do a family friendly version. This is a pretty dark game and just wouldn’t work on the Nintendo systems.” Game is in the vein of GoW, DI. The only way to put a family friendly version is dumbing down the whole mechanics, the gore itself and gruesome finishing moves.
Wii have no games.
This is good.
i'm sure wii owners would rather play the true castlevania titles instead of this pop version anyway
To avoid it looking and playing like crap.
i dont see the big deal here, dont most wii owners have a ps3 or 360?
some games just don't translate well to weaker technology, this is one of them. i think wii owners would rather not have the game at all than deal with an inferior port.
You Nintendo fans can grumble all you want to but there are a few facts you're choosing to ignore. Nintendo's image is decidedly and purposely family oriented. The Wii is owned predominantly by casual gamers, and the DS is marketed and priced for the casual market as well. Core games are few and far between on the Wii, and are dumbed down on the DS in comparison to console counterparts. Also, core games don't sell in the same volume as "family friendly" games do on the Wii. It's just the truth. You don't like that certain games don't come to the Wii or DS because of the "family friendly" image projected by Nintendo? Then your gripe is with Nintendo and not third party developers. As has been stated, core games have been made for the Wii and DS, but they don't do as well as on the PS3, or 360.
What do you Call no more heroes? This is just a Bullshit excuse and they know it.
Is what I call just another game. What is your example supposed to entail? Does it disprove that the Wii is marketed to be family friendly? Or that that's the image Nintendo WANTS to portray? Or that the PS3 and 360 have more success with core games than the Wii or DS? No? Thought not. And this is what developers look at. The Wii is not a console geared towards core gaming. It's a simple fact. You can argue with it all you want, it won't change anything.
So Sony and MS had more success with core games? Is that why Nintendos core titles outsell all of theirs combined? Just look at NSMBWii for example. How many core PS3 360 titles are at 15 million sold?
Is a console version of the DS New Super Mario Bros. It is incredibly family oriented, already well established both because of the iconic name of Mario and because, as I said, it's a console version of an already successful game. Your examples are lame.
maybe they dont like money
if their goal is making a super gory and "ultra-hardcore" castlevania... well they gonna fail, castlevania is a game that needs to have a good exploration and system... its not devil may cry...
Openworl, Level up system, many equips and so on
lol wii = family friendly classic
comon u can avoid family friendly on ds lol they already have 3 badass castlevanias. hell portrait of ruin has a boss that is made of bodies.
I guess the forgot to read the memo on what motion plus delivers. Oh well, I guess Natal and PS move will have something to look forward to... :(
We won't have to suffer the disgrace of seeing a half-assed, shitty-looking wii port. No complaints on this side.
... you didn't want to do a Castlevania on a non-HD console. Some of the best Castlevania games I've ever played were on the DS!!!! "We didn’t want to do a family friendly version. This is a pretty dark game and just wouldn’t work on the Nintendo systems." Madworld, Manhunt 2, and No More Heroes say hello...
Not to mention the million sellers like COD franchise, Resident Evils, etc. Konami are as bad as Capcom, its no wonder High Voltage has got room to produce Wii mature content.
I hope the game is really dissapointing. Theres a good chance considering how crappy the Castlevania Wii fighting game was. Again, KONAMI WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU? Nintendo doesn't deserve this kind of bulls***. sidenote - Anyone know the sales numbers for Konami's 16bit remakes on Wiiware? I mean clearly there is a market if Castlevania Rebirth and Contra have followed the hardest of all hard games, Gradius Rebirth.
@CimmerianDrake Just a another game? That game is Rated mature along with several other titles that are rated at that level-If the wii was so "Family Friendly" then these titles should exist on 360 and PS3 and be no where near the"Family Friendly" wii -Hence why I call this a bullshit article.
