The 20 gig PS3 appears to be on sale at Gamestop for 450 USD. The page doesn't say anything about why this is here after the 20 gig was canceled for North America.
DarthBillBoy reported this as "other" and called it a gimped version. If this is a "gimped" version then what is the $400 360? This has all the features of the $400 360, for only $50 more. Quit being such a penny pincher. $50 more and you get a blu-ray player. AND 5 free blu-rays to start off your collection. This is a great price point for someone that wants a blu-ray player or wants a PS3 and doesn't need the card reader or wi-fi or larger HD.
Also DADO reported it for being "lame" when this is a PS3 that was discontinued and for $50 cheaper than it was before. And Yotsuba reported it for being spam. How is this spam? Please, some constructive criticism here.
EDIT: I totally agree that the 60 gig is was more value, but "gimped" is a bit of a overstatement. It's like calling the 20 gig 360 "gimped" now that the 120 gig 360 is out.
maybe compared to 360 it has greater value(btw I wasn't comparing it to 360), but 50 bucks cheaper is not worth giving up the advantages of 60GB esp wifi
[edit]"It's like calling the 20 gig 360 "gimped" now that the 120 gig 360 is out." Who said it wasn't? 179 bucks to upgrade 20 to 120 and no hdmi of course 20GB is a gimp in comparison
I think they would sell alot better if they were 399. No wireless, extra slots and 40 gb less...just cut it down 50 more bucks and they would sell pretty well.
I actually bought a 20 gb at launch and I am thoroughly impressed with it. You get all the main features of the 60GB for less; however, when the price difference was 100 dollars between the 60 and 20GB, it was a better deal. The 20 does not come with memory card readers (SD, micro) but those readers only cost a few bucks. It only comes with a 20 gb HD, but most people I know just upgraded to whatever they wanted. In addition, I already had a wireless bridge for consoles, so I did not need the wireless card that the 60GB comes with. My 20 works great, and can technically do anything the 60 GB does.
The 20GB has the hardware chip for backwards compatibility, just like the 60GB. I play ps2 and ps1 games on it all the time. In addition, the 20GB has the full HD experience. It has a blu-ray player, along with the HDMI output. The only differences are the ones aforementioned in my last post.
All these changes with the PS3 makes me think Sony is a little worried. Why change it so much when they are finally selling, just keep the price down and reap the benefits. Just my opinion and I love my 60 gig.
Yeah, I hear what you are saying, but the 20GB did initially debut at launch. In a sense, it is not really a change. Nonetheless, I doubt the 20GB is back permanently.
There is no point at even purchasing the 20GB model PS3. For 50$ more you get alot more out of the 60GB model ,for what its worth. 20GB should priced at 399$, but that just my opinion.
I guess there were some in the supply chain that surfaced. I remember reading somewhere that there were still some out there somewhere. I don't think that $50 less than the 60 gig is all that compelling of a price point, but it is still a pretty good deal when you really look at it.
? not a bad price I might pick this up when more ps3 exclusives launch.

its a bit over priced compare to the 60 gigs which offers more.
they need to bring some of these back to America. They'd sell like foreign sex slaves. You know, in a good way. =]
how long is this going to be on sale for?
