-- "This is just one of the game features that the CELL’s SPUs have enabled. They’re a really interesting architecture. As a developer, you can get code running on them easily and immediately receive good performance due to the fact that you now have the task running in parallel with the other cores. And yet the architecture offers so many optimisation strategies that, if you're that way inclined, you can really hone your code until the virtual cows come home. It’s with this in mind that I’m really looking forward to seeing how games develop over this generation because hardcore developers are really going to be able to push it hard. It’s gonna be a really interesting ride!" --

On some days I sit back and look at it and I’m marvelled at the graceful way in which it twines around the heroine as she attacks a multitude of characters. It really is something that comes close to my high expectations. But then there are the other days when you loathe it with a passion. Imagine that you’re trying to set up a really cool looking screenshot for something like, oh, a developer diary. The pressure is on to hit the deadline and the scene is perfect. Yet one strand of hair is hanging from the heroine’s lip like a big fat moustache that wouldn’t look out of place in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly." --
So......The built in physics of Nariko's hair are done at such a high value and precision that loose hairs actually get in the way of marketing / dev screenshots? ** "FKN - AMAZING!!!" **
Ratchet & Clank Future:ToD here. Those insomniac guys....they seems to be a smart bunch. Not to downplay HS. It's also a good showcase of the cell in action (as it seems for one with non-dev eyes). Motorstorm and Resistance did NOT use the Cell at all. Only RSX doing all the gfx, right?
I have to agree, this will be most intresting to see. Even if someone recently reaches 100% cpu usage, optimisation is a factor, as you said here (Maddens).
At least for looks, tho I'm pretty sure the story and gamplay will be too. I'm hyped about it so much I read the whole thing xD some other news I'm just like "hmmm... too long... will read later" but not for this game. Hope to see the demo very soon :D
and the ps3 allows me 2 do that. as far as the seperate ai and how many enimies on screen. hopefully when i get into college for game dev. and i get the chance to make the game, everybody will like it
A good mannerism is to be stuborn headed to the max and never give up. Find that bug, find a way to make same thing but different and more efficient.
I've only done hobby programming and if you have the will it's way rewarding. Big portion of energy is a must too. Just saying; Prepare your self. Hopefully you are programming allready alot so you get a drift of what to expect.
Nariko's the next diva of gaming... Say good bye to Lara :'o(.
Welcome to my personal diva.... Nariko, the red hair goddess ^^.
I can't wait for the demo and the game. The demo on other case could easily cool me down a little but I STILL looking the game as much of FFXIII or Uncharted.
i think its very interesting from a developers point of view. damn the opengl drivers have to work for linux, so i can programm something nice, on the ps3.
hey what the heck where is my bubbles? I posted the story! :) lol j/k but this game looks amazing and the things their able to do right now is amazing, in 3 years, omg I can't wait...
edit:: who disagreed with me? I said this game is amazing and made a joke about needing bubbles for posting the story, holy hell have a sense of humor guys...
...then why can't this game run at 1080p 60 FPS? That would impress me, crap like real time hair physics are just minor gimicks. Show me some real, raw power.
because physics are some if not the mose cpu hungry processes if they are to made in real time, if you got any 3d tool or program try to make a physics based render and watch your cpu performance drop instanly give it a try :-))
we all know 1080p is a gimmik. 720p and 30fps was decided long before it was a ps3 exclusive. Graphics over resolution. Plus you've got 2000 enemies on screen...the difference between Ninja Gaiden Sigma and HS.
If 1080p is a gimick then I should've bought a Xbox 360 and be perfectly happy with it because without 1080p there isn't much to set the two systems apart. While there isn't much of a difference when you're watching a movie in 1080i or 1080p, for games there is a huge a difference. For one in 1080p games there are A LOT more polys and higher res textures on the screen and being to scream along with 4-8X AA with all the effects blazing requires raw GPU horse power that the Cell and its 6 processors can not help with.

bubbl3s?
I need some bubbles too, lawls.
I really do look forward to heavenly sword. The more I see of it, the more I'm impressed with it.
I don't need bubbles. Nariko is a goddess.
bubbles please
bubbles for everyone
