PS Home out of beta later this year

Sony's virtual space is due to come out of its beta-testing phase this December.

The news was slipped into a presentation by developer Veemee at this years Game in Scotland event in Dundee last weekend.

Veemee's, Kirk Ewing, said: Home is due to come out of its beta-testing phase in December of this year.

Maybe we will see some additions at E3,

Home needs to be integrated into XMB.
1)autolaunch into a localized home space.
2) Visually see who's online by seeing who is in your space
3) Option to enable/disable 1 and 2
4) Use Sackboy/ModNation Racer as your avatar/ avatar pet
5) More cartoony facial features. All that detail is not needed

That would be OK at first but after a while it would get boring, it's like the hub in modnation racers. What's wrong with a menu??

the modnation hub is awesome- doing burnouts and crashing into other people is fun. You cant really do anything "fun" in the home plaza... I guess you could always talk to people. It would be cool if you can see all ur friends on in the same room as you log in.

-that said, i think home intergrated XMB should be optional- for thoes folks who just dont care.

I still have no use for Home, but good to see them progressing. Lots of people use it and Sony has clearly succeeded in making money off of it.

Video and music sharing might be included in a PSN+ subscription. It'd be nice if you could completely install Home on the HD. Makes me think I'm gonna have to upgrade this 120gb to a 500gb this summer.

i do not use it. only reason i would is if i could jump into home from a game lobby without shutting the game down, so i could jump back and forth quickly or talk to someone while a game is loading

They put beta on it but it's really not in beta still. phil harrison said it will always be considered a beta since it's always evolving,he said in that sense it's a beta.

I jumped on Home today and there were tons of people there chilling. I played some of the mini games that were there and they were fun for the most part. They have come along way since I was last on. I think I will visit more now that I see what they have done. The LBP space is very nice btw!

i know lol. its been in beta forever. i used it many a time and it seems to me like a glorified yahoo chat room that has a crap load of stuff to waste your money on.. needless to say i didnt like it, but thats just me. i like games not virtual facebook HA!

Does anyone know if you can talk with your mic in Home yet? Or share vids and music? If you still cant, 4 years and still Home fails to deliver anything insightful and crap 1 minute mini games where people dance.

They should shut it down to use the resources on other PS3 features. And for the "lots of people go on home!" Well lots of people drink their own piss too.

So what will change now that Home is coming out of Beta? Answer, nothing. Home has been out of Beta for a year Sony just didnt want to admit to it on the off chance they decided to kill it. It probably makes them enough money to keep it going but clearly it didnt pull in the bucks they wanted hence the PSN+ paid service they will now launch that will give you the cross game chat you so long asked for and they kept ignoring.

what Phil Harrison presented years ago @ e3 is not what home is, basically the features in the beta are not fully supported. e.g. game launching only supports a few games like Warhawk, resident evil, Street Fighter and few others.

I know its a beta but common its been years, I was so hyped for home but I hardly visit it any more, just because there's hardly anything to do, apart from chat to a few people and visit spaces.

oh I think I unlocked a Mexican hat from red dead redemption and home rewarded it to me...not sure though...

I haven't logged into Home in years, really find it pretty useless. It's insane in that I remember in the months leading to it's release people were hyping the hell out of it and making it seem like the next "big" thing.

I love home, i love the customization of the ps3 avatars, i find there is a bigger variety in choosing outfits. And a whole lot of things to do to kill time, it's great to see it leave it's beta stage, hopefully they will be adding more stuff like a Trophy room.

The new Patch for Home had fixed the loading issues and it made home run so much better!!

home died for me when they took off voice chat now u can only voice chat under certain rules. they really need to integrate way more games to home. i really love what they did with the warhawk space. they should do one for battlefield bad company 2. lets say your squad can met up at the home space and decide what map and mode they want to play and what class they are going to play as. they can do so much with home but they dont. why haven't they done a live e3 for home yet?
