There's been a rumor flying around that Peter Moore, Vice President of interactive entertainment business, entertainment and devices division at Microsoft, will be soon leaving the company to head up EA sports.

The story is too old to be commented.

the entertainment (xbox) division has never seen profit, perhaps it has to do with the 1 billion dollar deficient the xbox division will have to face in the coming years.

Odion like I care what you think.

I see red.

Odion5419d ago

oh look Sony fanboys are approving this and a Sony fanboy is opening his mouth.

Also before you make yourself look like a bigger dumass, go to fortune 500 and look under MS, their rise in profits for the quater was due to the 360, its making profit it just hasn't made back the money they lost from the initional investment.

Azures5419d ago

Thats called being in debt Odion, not making money. Making money would entail they are making a PROFIT that doesn't go towards paying off development/legal/etc. fees for their product.

tehcellownu5419d ago

they lost billions and peter is running away...they never goin to make a profit..1.1 billion dollars and i see them losing even more..

ya know things quit on

Azures5419d ago

god i hope this is a harbinger for the end of MS in the games business. it would be so great if it went back to Nintendo and Sony, the days of ps1 and n64 were brilliant.

Peter Moore has ruined every company hes been with. He was a big part of Nintendo's downward spiral years ago. Single handedly killed the Dreamcast, ruined Sega to the point it no longer makes consoles, and totally destroyed any hope of xbox/360 ever making any money. Yeah that little billion dollar viasco, on top of the already 6 billion in losses, made it real easy for shareholders!

Guess whats in store for EA!

And the bomb, MS has a shareholders meeting with quarterly report on Thursday! Can you say the end is near!

Peter Moore Resigns From Microsoft to Return to Northern California

Don Mattrick appointed to head Microsoft's Xbox and Games Business.

"REDMOND, Wash., July 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Microsoft Corp. today announced that Don Mattrick, a former president at Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), will lead the Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB), which includes overseeing the Xbox(R) and Games for Windows(R) businesses. Peter Moore, who currently serves as corporate vice president of IEB, has decided to move his family back to the Bay Area for personal reasons and has secured another opportunity in the video games industry.

Mattrick will take over as the senior vice president of IEB at Microsoft, effective July 30. Mattrick was the founder of Distinctive Software Inc., which operated as a private company from 1982 until its merger with EA in 1991. Mattrick held various senior positions within EA, most recently as president of Worldwide Studios, until his resignation in February 2006. In February 2007, Mattrick began working with the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft as an external advisor.

"Peter has contributed enormously to the games business since joining Microsoft in 2003 and we are sad to see him go," said Robbie Bach, president of Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. "Since that time, he presided over the global launch of the Xbox 360(TM), spearheaded a revitalized and rebranded Games for Windows business, and helped steer the console's ascent."

Moore has decided to return with his family to Northern California, where they lived until he took the position at Microsoft. Moore will remain at Microsoft to assist in the transition through August and will then return to the San Francisco Bay area.

"While Peter will certainly be missed, we are delighted to have one of the industry's most talented and passionate veterans on board to lead the business," Bach said. "Don is well-known and respected throughout the industry for his deep knowledge, technical expertise and management savvy. Under Don's leadership, the games team is looking forward to embarking on our biggest holiday ever, with a wide-ranging roster of some of the most highly anticipated titles."

Mattrick brings 23 years of games industry and development experience to the strong Microsoft management team, having helped bring to life such celebrated game franchises as the "Need for Speed," "Harry Potter" and "The Sims" while at EA.

"Over the past two decades, and the past few months in particular, I've worked closely with many of Microsoft's top leaders and I've always been impressed by their talent, passion and commitment," said Mattrick. "I'm thrilled to join an already strong team that's delivering truly amazing gaming experiences to customers around the world. I've never been more excited about the future of the industry, and firmly believe Microsoft will lead the next great innovations in gaming."

Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq "MSFT") is the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential."

I think Peter Moore is a good guy, he pretty honest. And it's not like he was making all those decisions on his own. He is a real PR guy.

This is not coming from a 360 fan or owner by the way. I just think we should give this guy some slack. Maybe he feels presure on the Xbox camp and want to goy the neutral way. He could do good at EA.

Most if not all of you are totally missing the point when it comes to either Sony or Microsoft's profits AS A WHOLE!

Listen, BOTH compnies are MAKING money! Sony is losing money on the PS3 as is M$ on the 360.

But what most of you seem to forget for some reason is that both of these companies make a ton of money on other products. Enough so, to cover the losses in their gaming divisions!

As for Peter Moore going to EA? The job as a whole is probably easier and not to mention they are THE top software company on consoles and probably PC's. They are projected to hit the billion mark in sales.

Not such a dumb move either way you go with this one. Either stay with the billion dollar company or move to another billion dollar company.

That would be quite a conflict on interests. Having millions in Microsoft stocks even if he were to leave, he would have personal gain in turning EA into making exclusives just for the 360.

Whoooop5419d ago (Edited 5419d ago )

It would be interesting to see Peter Moore doing business with SONY or giving some info on a PS3 only feature on a game etc.

Just wondering..

PS: guys don't mind Odion.. He tends to be a little mentally challenge when it comes to posting objective and intelligent comments..

Think of him as a hair in your @ss... You know is ugly and smells like sh*t, but you don't give a f*ck that it's there. :)

Azures5419d ago

is EA sports anything besides the nfl license these days? all their other games suck.

marinelife95419d ago

MS should be glad Moore might be leaving. He is an unprofessional exec. If I were a stockholder in MS I wouldn't be impressed by his demeanor, language, appearance, or tactics.
