Well this is music to my ears because by logic, one of those titles must be Criterion's Need For Speed. We've heard so little about it. In theory, it should be open world like burnout. I really hope it is because i haven't bought a need for speed since Most Wanted. They need to get back to their ps2 days

drdistracto7075515d ago

DONT TURN INTO THE MONSTER YOU USED TO BE EA!!!!!! I WANT TO HATE ACTIVISION A BIT LONGER :(

Sm0k3y_Bac0n5515d ago

I was concerned when i read the title, but the fact ones an MMO whilst the others a pure racing game put my mind at ease. Just have to see the quality when the games come out. Doesn't matter how milked a franchise becomes, if the games are still amazing it doesn't matter how many there are.

Trey_4_life5515d ago

And you thought the cod franchise was bad! sigh

Brazil5515d ago

While it is a bit oversaturated, at least one of them is free to play (Need for Speed World). The beta for NFSW was pretty fun too, so that's a plus. So then there's the Critereon NFS, which is guaranteed to be good, and maybe (?) Shift 2 or something of that nature.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now, I don't think this will be an annual thing.

Need For Speed Underground 2 is the best NFS game ever created. I really need a sequel, are you one of those 3 unannounced games Need For Speed Underground 3?

TheBest5515d ago

One is the Criterion open-world "Underground/Most Wanted/Carbon" style NFS for consoles/PC, one's the free-to-play NFS MMO for the PC, and the final one is a sequel to NFS:Shift, a competitor to Forza/GT5 for consoles/PC.

Essentially EA wants to combat all corners of the racing market.

Disccordia5515d ago

The third title is being developed by Black Box, developers of Skate and all recent NFS games since the PS2 era (excluding Shift)

AAACE55515d ago

I see EA is still big on running their franchises into the ground!

BkaY5515d ago

as long as they have good story.. and "underground" or "most wanted" like gameplay...

they really need to work on story.. IMHO.. if they make one like "fast and the furious" it will work.... :)

but my hopes are not very high....

peace

Wow, that is over saturating the market with N4S games. The quality will probably suffer as a result, ultimately serving as a detriment to the license.

wohoo5515d ago

Depends how you look at it I guess. One is an PC MMO, the other an action racer from Criterion, and the third a Shift-like sim title. All are very different games, so it's not like they're releasing 3 Underground-type titles. But, I agree, they could start a new racing franchise instead of wearing out the NFS name.

SixZeroFour5515d ago

agree with wohoo...its more like they are catering a different game to every audience, mmo, sim, and the average racer

randomwiz5515d ago (Edited 5515d ago )

Also think of it in terms of sales, will Criterion's sales suffer because a new NFS will be released in the next quarter? The average consumer won't see the difference in play styles. They just see NFS, and connect it to racing.

JR_Da_Truth5515d ago

Anyone think that one game would be for PS3, 360, and PC, the second game for Wii, and the third game for handhelds?

Koblec5515d ago

NFS Underground was, imo, the greatest NFS game ever made. I wouldn't mind a NFS:U 3, so long as they kept to their PS2 roots. I wouldn't mind if Criterion made it either, Burnout Paradise was great.

SpaceFox5515d ago

Agree, although I liked Burnout Paradise more. The only thing from Underground I missed in Paradise was the customization, that was amazing in the Underground games.

SpaceFox5515d ago

To be honest, I'd rather see a Burnout Paradise 2. That game was and is fantastic. Plus, my little cousin would be ecstatic, he's 7 and Burnout Paradise is his favorite game.

Offline server mod released for Need for Speed World, play this cancelled game in offline mode

DSOGaming writes: "Back in 2015, Electronic Arts shut down the official servers for the online racing game based on the Need for Speed franchise, Need For Speed: World. However, PC gamers will now able to play this racing game in offline mode as an offline server mod has just been released."

I always meant to check out Battlefield Heroes, but I always ended up turning back to Team Fortress 2. I guess I'm not the only one.

camel_toad3715d ago

Yeh as far ad f2p goes the only ones I ever find myself going back to are Team Fortress 2 and Robocraft. Grow tired too quickly of everything else.

mikeslemonade3714d ago

Good news, free-to-play is bad for gamers.

HammadTheBeast3715d ago

It was hugely Pay-to-win from the little I played of it.

dirkdady3715d ago

This marks the end of f2plays ya'alls.

saladthieves3715d ago

Just simply means EA's cash flow isn't flowing as much as they wanted. This works for sequels but can ruin certain games permanently!

I have a friend who recently picked up a PS3 (for the first time) with a bunch of games, one of them being Lord of the Rings Conquest (EA title). She was disappointed to discover that MP in Conquest doesn't work at all. Turns out the servers shut down a long time ago and as a result, MP is completely crippled on consoles (except on PC, via Tunngle).

saladthieves3715d ago

I'd say the same. I went as far as to get ready/sign up but never got around to actually playing it.

reallyNow3714d ago

BF heros was garbage and nothing like battlefield.

NfS World closing is actually pretty surprising to me.

TXIDarkAvenger3715d ago

It actually wasn't bad for a free to play game. Probably one of the best f2p racing games I've ever played.

ocelot073715d ago

From what I heard there was a lot of cheating going on. Maybe there shutting it down due to this?

Kran3715d ago

Such a good feeling to know a game I'm still playing 3 and a half years later is still making enough money to keep going for many years yet :)

DxTrixterz3715d ago

No not Fifa World. I was enjoying it more than Fifa 15 .

Brooklynbully1233715d ago

This is one company that I wish would be gone

StrayaKNT3715d ago

Or you can just not purchase their games lol? leave it all for us to enjoy

MasterCornholio3715d ago (Edited 3715d ago )

I dont wish that they were gone but in against many of their practices. Like what they did with BF4 for example or what they did with Hardline.

Just because EA gave me Plant Vs Zombies for free I still am able to disagree with them.
