Reasons why Mount & Blade: Warband may be the best open world game around

A little Turkish company called TaleWorlds is out to make some real open world games. A couple years ago they released Mount & Blade which is very similar to Elite and Pirates!, but it’s set in a fictional medieval world. It’s an open world strategy, action RPG. You start the game by selecting how you were raised and your background. Then, you are tossed into the game world, and you may do anything you want. You can become rich by trading goods between cities, lead armies to victory, marry a princess, or become the best warrior in the arena. There are some quests to help guide you along the way, but, most importantly, your path is completely up to you.
