Kotaku has been sent an image of the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's placeholder box art, presumably by a rogue GameStop employee. Ubisoft confirmed the image as legit, officially revealing the next title in the Assassin's Creed series.
I think this is more of an expansion of AC2 than Assassin's Creed 3. I mean its due this fall and its only been like 5 moths since the last one released. It looks like it will show what events unfolded after ending of AC2 with Ezio rather than continuing where Desmond Miles left off.
He means it will likely be a spin-off to flesh out the story, not a GOTY edition of Assassin's Creed 2.
And I'd be inclined to agree. Ezio is a great character and I certainly wouldn't mind getting to explore his story a bit more. It would also be a great opportunity to open Rome up for exploration, which if you remember, was locked off in AC2 (besides the linear mission that took place there).
I'm thinking of something that is technically a full game, but not a full-fledged sequel.
Would be interesting to see more of Ezios world. I like Ezio as a character more and the story within assasins creed 2 but I think I would actually prefer a spinoff involving altair because I loved the setting of that world sooo much despite the fact the story in AC2 was better.
What they have to watch out for is not being inferior in terms of story. A lot of interest for me in the first 2 Assasins Creed games came from the story outside the pod and the stuff relating to the big adam and eve mystery. If they don't touch on that I believe they will need to step it up a level in terms of the story within Ezios world :)
I never did finish the first one. I did like the story line, I'm a bit of a Knights Templar fan as far as history and conspiracy theory goes. May need to revisit the series and pick up part two as well before this drops.
Well, of course it will only take them a year from now on. They don't have to bother with the graphics, for they cannot get better anyways (due to a particular system). They can just take Ac2's mechanics and engine and just make a few multiplayer maps.
Looks like a cool game, but is this going to be a "real" Assassin's Creed or more of an extension of 2? Speaking of A.C.2, I have yet to play it but hope to before the third one comes out.
Multiplayer should be very Interesting.

AC2 is one of the best games i've played recently. I think a multiplayer, if done right would be really, really cool
Nice! I'd love some more Assassin's Creed!
im gonna pass
