Ubisoft reiterate "Splinter Cell Conviction is exclusive to Xbox 360"

The Lost Gamer writes:

Over the past couple of weeks rumour has continually speculated that the Xbox 360 title, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, is to make its way onto Sony's PlayStation 3 console.

Today however, Ubisoft have aimed to kill such rumour by reiterating that the title is exclusive to Microsoft's console, and will be only making its way to PC.

Damn! And I swore Myself I was about to play it on my brother's PC when its out all Along!!!! so how is it Xbox Exclusive!?

Console Exclusive to the xbox360* Fixed.

Chubear5268d ago (Edited 5268d ago )

..wait, wait, wait. This headline seems oddly familiar. It's on the tip of my tongue almost as if I've heard th... Ah yes, now I remember.

"2K Games reiterate Bioshock is 100% exclusive to Xbox 360"

SnuggleBandit5268d ago

Im guessing they are gonna pull a "Splinter cell sigma conviction" on this one...

StanLee5268d ago (Edited 5268d ago )

They'll look like idiots with eggs on the faces when it is released on PS3 next Spring. The tweet doesn't even make any sense; it's exclusive to XBox 360 but the PC version will be released next week. Hilarity.

Tony-A5268d ago (Edited 5268d ago )

For now....

until the PC (Games for Windows) version..... then it'll be exclusive to 360 and GFW..... until Steam..... then it'll be exclusive to 360, GFW and Steam.... until....

See where I'm going?

Besides, I don't think there has ever been a multiplatform game like BioShock. That rumor was shot down more than any other game I've ever seen (on par with MGS4, but that stayed exclusive) yet still ended up on Sony's console.

After that day, I haven't believed publishers/developers. Especially when they go back and forth like Ubi and 2K have.

Persistantthug5268d ago (Edited 5268d ago )

Bringing this game to the PS3 will render similar results as Bioshock 1.

When developers try to capitalize on the PS3's sizable userbase, and treat them as second class citizens, so to speak, their game typically gets treated second class...I call it THE BIOSHOCK TREATMENT.

Splinter Cell isn't even that great of a game....lesser of a game than Bioshock, in fact.

So, I hope Microsoft's money incentives and the 360/PC sales is enough for Ubiosoft, because for the most part,
that's all they are gonna get.

raztad5268d ago

@Persistant

I sorta agree. Unless it receives the Sigma treatment=720p, better visuals + more content (MERC vs SPIES perhaps?)

I'm not buying a year old, 540p, 5 hours game for my PS3, wtf? UBI can keep it. On the other hand SC:C Sigma might have support from me.

MmaFanQc5268d ago

like bioshock, gta:latd & gta:tbgt?

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5268d ago (Edited 5268d ago )

But will loose the exclusive, Until April 27, becoming Multiplatform, PC Version.

5268d ago
iNFAMOUZ15268d ago

what's your point it's still gonna be microsoft exclusive..durr

All I know is if it does come to the PS3, Ubisoft's word is meaningless.

BeaArthur5268d ago

Every developers word is meaningless anyways. We've been down this road before. It wouldn't surprise me if it comes to the PS3 and it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't.

RememberThe3575268d ago

When ever you hear these companies talk it's just the money. We can never take these companies at their word. F*ck'em.

FarEastOrient5268d ago

Yes I heard this before....

Wada-san

2005 Final Fantasy XIII is coming to PS2
2006 Never mind, Final Fantasy XIII is coming to PS3
2007 Final Fantasy XIII is exclusive to PS3
2008 Oh wait a minute, I have one more video to show...

2009 Final Fantasy XIII is released exclusively in Japan
2010 Final Fantasy XIII is sold to both Xbox 360 and PS3 in the West

JD_Shadow5268d ago (Edited 5268d ago )

Yeah, Ubisoft. Just keep trying to deny and try to kill the rumors that keep piling up, just like you keep denying that your DRM methods fail. We believe you. *snicker*

EDIT: By the way, I love how sites dealing with these kinds of statements just dismisses every rumor starter that ever started it and takes the publisher's word for it, even when we know they wouldn't be as honest as we think they are (especially when Ubisoft themselves said there was a "wait and see" attitude about it appearing on the PS3).

Think about it: would Ubisoft want to stop the amazing sales of the 360 version by saying that it WOULD appear on the PS3 at some point?

renegade5268d ago (Edited 5268d ago )

Whatever It would come to ps3 later.

Hands Up For Games5268d ago

I think there telling the Truth. Just like MGS4 is exclusive to PS3 (great game!) but the Raiden spin off is coming to both the PS3 and 360, I think Splinter Cell will go the same route. Conviction will be a 360 exclusive and the next installment will be multiplatform.

Just my 2 cents though.

aaronisbla5268d ago

the main difference here is that besides one MG game, none have never went to a MS console and when it did, it had some issues with it, like framerate and things like that. They ended up putting that version on the ps2 as well.

With Splintercell, they have always found there way over to a sony machine, this is the main reason why some think it will come. At this point if its not released in a few months for the ps3, they will lose a lot of potential sales cuz by then it will be "on to the next one", thats how a lot of gamers are.

FarEastOrient5268d ago

If you look at the history of Splinter Cell it was never exclusive to one platform in any form. It was released on the Xbox first than the PC and than later on the Playstation 2, a simple google or wiki will show that all Tom Clancy games are multi-platform beget that they all started as timed exclusives.

NeutralGamer5268d ago

Actually MGS3 was the first Sony exclusive...

Metal Gear Solid 1 came to PC
Metal Gear Solid 2 came to PC AND Xbox

Nothing wrong with more games. As someone who just fundamentally hates xbox, I am pretty jelly that xbox gamers get real BC.

Finally ninja gaiden 2 is BC, I've been waiting on this since they announced BC.

Bane351988d ago (Edited 1988d ago )

Yeah i thought ninja gaiden was gonna get remaster because it wasnt announced for backwards compatible til just now tho i would've been up for joy if they announced max payne 3 for backwards compatible today instead

hiawa231988d ago

I am so wanting MP3 on BC and X1X enhanced

Bane351988d ago (Edited 1988d ago )

@hiawa23 i think R* has plans to remaster MP3 at this point

Z5011988d ago

You couldn't play your copy of NG2 before this announcement?

Bane351988d ago (Edited 1988d ago )

No it just became backwards compatible today

Movefasta19931988d ago

not everybody still has their 360, that's why

Z5011987d ago

Kept your game, but no console to play it on?
No one sells 360's anymore?

bluebenjamin1988d ago

Ninja Gaiden 2 is the main game I wanted bcthen alone one x enchanced is this game is more fun than bloodborne

Gwiz1988d ago

No contest, souls games are overhyped for difficulty.

bluebenjamin1988d ago

Very overhyped just because of difficulty not because of fun

1988d ago
Movefasta19931988d ago

facts, once you beat a souls game and do ng plus, you have the game downloaded. Once you return to ng1 and 2 you still can get your ass handed to you lol, the regular enemies are a threat, still attacking even when they are on the ground dismembered.

Gaming4Life19811987d ago

Agreed dark souls, bloodborne, and sekiro are overhyped games and dont compare to ninja gaiden 1 & , ninja gaiden 3 sucks.

Z5011988d ago

What does BB have to do with NG2?
Why not insert Contra Shattered Soldier while you're at it.

bluebenjamin1988d ago

Ninja gaiden was once considered one of the hardest games ninja gaiden 2 has rpg elements so does bloodborn they have similar combat but ninja gaiden 2 just looks better doing it plus its fast pace and flashy combos removing limbs of foes remember 360 put more enemies on screen than ps3 on this game 360 had more dismemberment of limbs than the ps3 vs.360 had a better gpu but ps3 still to this day has an awesome cpu the ps3 had the prettiest ninja gaiden because of native 720 p while 360 pushed 640p now the one X has both higher rez and 360 style dismemberment But Ok for you contra ps2 version and nes

1988d ago
1988d ago
Movefasta19931988d ago

I do think ninja gaiden 1 and 2 are better than souls games, but they aren't even comparable

Z5011987d ago

Again. Why'd you pick BB?
Ninja Gaiden has ninja dog mode = easy
NG2 has a jump and block button
BB has none of those.

You could've picked a Devil May Cry or Bayonetta game. They're more similar to NG2 than BB.

What does PS3 have to do with this announcement? Your insecurities are showing.

Gaming4Life19811987d ago

I think they are being compared because of difficulty but I dont even think that is comparable imo. Ninja gaiden games are better though that's just facts.

Hungryalpaca1987d ago

And Forza is Better than MARIO Kart!!!!!

See how stupid that sounds?

bluebenjamin1987d ago

No Mario Kart is the best racer ever almost anyone can play

Amazing news! NG2!?!? Three Splinter Cell games!!! Fable 2&3 (the first is already enhanced)!!! This is what separates Microsoft's version of BC from others...its that they enhance both the performance and visual quality of these titles to keep them current in a lot of cases, instead of playing them exactly how they played and performed back in the day. Whats even better...I don't need to do ANYTHING but download the new patch...amazing.👏

Keep it coming Xbox!

Are the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for July 2018 any good?

Neil writes: "Every single month we hear the same old thing about the Xbox Games With Gold titles. "We don't want that rubbish - we want decent games, we want AAA blockbusters, we want something different". Well, the free Xbox 360 and Xbox One titles being given away during the month of July pretty much tick those boxes. What's the chances there will still be complaints?"

Tom clancy and virtua fighter are great death sqaured is pretty cool idk about assualt

lxeasy2277d ago

Splinter cell conviction is great, vf 5 is fun. Haven't played the other two so I'm excited to try them out.

ApexWolf222277d ago

Great month for 360 titles, X1 titles remind me of early days when all they gave away were indies, I hope they dont start doing that again.

AG1002277d ago

at least you can play the 360 games on xb1 too lol

Goldby2277d ago

Now that there's gamepass, expect bugger AAA to have priority in that, more money for both the dev and Ms more likely

yomfweeee2277d ago

I though Plus was lackluster this month. Gold is way worse.

BQ322277d ago

Vf5 fs is the best fighting game of all time abd backwards compatible, so it is a huge win in my book.

annoyedgamer2277d ago

No these are pretty awful. Virtua Fighter is great and so is Splinter Cell but those are 360 titles.

lxeasy2277d ago

so what if there 360 titles it's still awesome

A new Tom Clancy adventure can be enjoyed on Xbox One due to Back Compat – Is it worth the return?

Carlos writes: "Xbox Backwards Compatibility has shown a strong start to 2018 with a number of top titles being made available to play on Xbox One, but whilst this week doesn’t bring quite as many new arrivals as the past few weeks, there is still one addition for us to get stuck into once more... and it’s one that’s sure to prove a popular addition."
