More news from Capcom's Captivate event. Capcom has announced a prologue episode to Dead Rising 2 called Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Its to be compelling content, exclusive to Xbox LIVE ahead of the game's launch.
Nice. Ahead of the actual lauch.
I think its probably to fill the gap between the first and second game. PS3 owners dont know the story in the first game and the second probably will start a "new" story with some cool references from the first one.
I don't usually buy DLC's but this will be the very Rare exception. This game is straight FUN!!!
Exclusive DLC is gay. I imagine these announcements as a guy telling everyone about it with an abnormally large grin on his face, and Microsoft reps shoving wads of cash into his back pockets.
I hope it's 4 player co-op and not just 4 player multiplayer with 2 player co-op.
...It's one thing to offer small items as downloadable exclusives, but an ENTIRE PROLOGUE? Come on, this is almost as bad as the GTA IV episodes. If these developers think they can cut off such huge amounts of content out from half (or over half) of their install base, then I see no reason to support them. Just as I am not buying the GTA IV episodes solely because of Rockstar's bullsh*t, Dead Rising 2 is now a used buy for me. And this is solely out of principle, because before you know it, with the way things are going we will soon get games that end half-way through the story on one platform because the ending has been made a platform exclusive. Oh and about the PS3 not needing it because it "fills the gap" and only 360 owners would understand the story... this thing is billed as a prologue to the SECOND game, not an epilogue to the first. In theory, this helps set up the story and adds background to the main game. Don't you think all gamers should be able to be able to experience the full story?
How is this different than stripping parts from the actual game and selling as DLC? Either way it's just another scheme to make more money.
they already announced this last year *i think.
I wonder for how long it will be
3 hours. http://helldescent.com/2010...
Hey MS pays top dollar for exclusive of any kind timed or not. PS3 will probably get it after the game is released.
Very old news.
Hell YES, this'll be awesome!!
I'm actually looking more forward to this then the actual sequel. I am willing to bet my left pincher that this thing will be released during E3 as part of MS's E3 Bringing It Home promotion. It better be available to Silver members day one.
I doubt they would allow it for Silver members. The Gold members need some sort of justification for paying for Gold.
I'll have to see how long it is and how much it costs first.
Yep i highly agree. I too will wait before buying. And truth be told, i dont like the way Capcom is leaving the PS3 out in the cold again.......not unless the PS3 will be getting exclusive DLC sometime down the line then i guess its okay.
I give it a month until they announce that it'll go multiplatform.
Doubt it.. Capcom said they had something special for owners of the original game for making the first one a success. I think this ties some of the old story to the new so not much need for people coming fresh to the franchise. The don't seem to be making any grey area that this is exclusive to Xbox 360. It's at least some consolation for ruining this franchise and turning it into the multplatform abomination it seems to be looking like now.
^ yep...it will go MP...just look at the past history of this stuff it would be stupid to release content which will hurt those who dont have a 360 for the next game...
I truly don't understand capcom here, why making this dlc for the guys that have the first game, and the ps3 owners that don't know what the plot is about, the finger. I know is probably a timed but is one pretty stupid move by capcom. BTW i played the first one and the plot is terrible, and i don't mean normal terrible like mw2, i truly mean bottom of the list kind of deal.
It's being touted as an Xbox exclusive guys. This means I'll be playing it on my PS3 and PC within a ridiculously short amount of time. Source: Past.
As usual PS3 get new exclusive games and XB2 just gets timed exclusive DLCs.
who bets timed exclusive ? well pc buy for me only if they fix the anoying save system took to long to finish this game and was just to frustating.
PC = MODS MODS MODS I can't wait.
This was announced months ago, although we didn't know at the time that it would come out before Dead Rising 2 hit the shelves Surely the title should read "Dead Rising 2: Case Zero - new info" instead, as anyone who paid attention to gaming would already know its exclusive
this is old. it's a small thank you to 360 gamers for the success of the first game. It's probably no more than 5 hours long if that. Unless you had a 360 at launch and have since moved on to the ps3 platform why would anyone want this on the ps3? I'm curious to know the answer.
why wouldn't someone want it on ps3? other than this dlc business i mean...
do i need the actual dead rising 360 version for this dlc to work or is this sort of a standalone game? cuz i already got the wii version and i never had a 360 at the time mind u and im getting dead rising 2 on my ps3 instead
Sucks for you guys.
I know right? To be told your console is the ONLY place to get the game, only to find out they lied yet AGAIN. -_-
thats nice but is it free, mabe like a demo?
I don't get the mentality here. It's clear Microsoft is being much more aggressive this generation and can you blame them? Yet when the PS2 dominated and had all the exclusive deals and timed exclusives it seemed ok but now that the competition is far greater now it's not ok? Dead Rising started out on the Xbox 360, so of course they will favor that console. Much like how Rockstar favored the PS2 and had timed exclusive deals going on last generation (and even now with games like Agent). So gamers just need to suck it up and move on.
it'd be cool to get this on ps3, but like those batman AA joker maps it's probably gonna stay put. and as it's coming out before the game itself then that makes me doubt even more that it'll cross plaforms, as i doubt thered be any sense releasing it after the actual game! and yeah this news came out a while back...
