NPD Group has released an expanding listing of the top 20 sales for the March 2010 NPD sales data.
On time, as ever.
Games in top 20 PS3 - 7 Wii - 5 DS - 4 360 - 4 <-----Last of consoles in the US..wtf.. this is USA right?
Looks like all things God Of War and Mario have staying power in the top 20. The GOW collection hasn't left since last year. I bet GOW3 will stay in the top 10 again. And top 20 for a while. :)
Yeah those exclusives really helped Sony last month. The next few months will be different I'm sure but good job Sony on the software side of things.
I want to take this time to say R.I.P. Red Steel 2, kudos to the 50,000(yeah I know) that bought it. That made me sad but Kudos to gaming software.
Representin' for the gamers all across da world STILL Hitting them corners and them enemies girl... lol :)
MLB 2K10 should have placed higher, 2K FINALLY put out a good Baseball game after a very long time and no one buys it. Good to see The Show did good though. Nice to see the God of War Collection and Heavy Rain still on the list though.
Looks like the 360 and PS3 screwed up again.Nintendo is the only true contributor to industry growth.
Glad the industry is selling games.
No Red Steel 2, but I can't say I'm entirely surprised.
A game released early in this generation that wasn't very well recieved recently got a sequel on the 23rd March that was much better recieved and had a meaty advertising budget and despite selling to a userbase of 70 million didn't enter the top 20. Now, what am I talking about. Just Cause 2 or Red Steel 2? Which one will we whined about? That's all I got to say on the matter.
7 PS3 titles in the NPD Top 20...this has to be one of the best showing's the PS3 has had for a Single month Software wise in the U.S. for quite a while (if not one of the best showing's period).
Whoever had the idea to release Yakuza at the time it released should be fired from Sega.
I agree penny i mean april is almost empty besides conviction on the 360. What were they thinking releasing it next to bfbc2,gow3 and ff13 just to name a few they only have their self to blame its like they did it just to sabotage themself to avoid releasing yakuza 4 here.
Cant believe people still buy Mw2.
Great to see God of war 3 in that position, it deserves it.
Great month for Sony. I am glad to see this because they seem like the only company that are truly trying to innovate and offer true value for money. Those garbage wii's have been pulling sales from much better machines for way too long now.
about this particular top 20 showing is that it really highlights the particular demographics of the consoles really well. the PlayStation is known to have a strong following in the Action/Adventure and RPG genres, and the top sellers for the PS3 were God of War 3 with 1.10 million units, and Final Fantasy XIII, with 828,000 units. on the flip side the PS3 only sold 451,000 units of Battlefield Bad Company 2, an FPS. the Xbox 360, however, which is known to have a strong following in the Shooter genre, sold 825,000 units of Battlefield Bad Company 2, practically TWICE the amount it sold on the PS3, while it only sold 493,000 units of Final Fantasy XIII, an RPG, a little over half of what it sold on the PS3. and then there's Nintendo, proving that their audience ONLY seems to care about games with a Nintendo pedigree to it; Mario, Pokemon, anything with Wii "XXX" n the title. i feel so bad for third parties on the Wii. i just think it's interesting that the numbers speak for themselves when it comes to highlighting the particular demographics each of the 3 consoles are strongest in. it's simply a fact that the 360 audience prefers shooters over RPGs. this is substantiated over and over again by the rather colossal sales of shooters on the platform in comparison to other platforms (ie, Gears of War, Modern Warfare 2, Halo, Battlefield, etc). it's also a fact that the PS3 audience prefers action games and RPGs. this is also substantiated over and over again by the rather colossal sales of action games and RPGs on the platform (ie, Uncharted, God of War, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII, etc)
