I like the storyline (that I've seen), I like the atmosphere, and I'd really like to play this game! :D

DVD9 size is being overlooked at because of blu-ray.
DVD9 is tons of space for a video game, just some compression and your good. (Unless you need to compress a 40gb multiplat game)

A PC/Xbox exclusive DVD9 doesnt matter one bit; because the size is being managed properly from the start of development. Where a PS3 multiply then being ported to 360 wasnt designed around dvd9 thus some areas may suffer.

And to be honest looking at that video; that game is top 3 best looking on consoles. Best atmoshpe, the trees, everything has that mountain feel, it feels open (even though its alot less sandboxed based now).

Great looking game, it has alot of elements balanced out alot more than previous games we've seen.

I was going to stay silent until you said something about the trees. Have you ever been to the great northwest? I lived there for years. I used the ferry to commute. I saw plenty of trees the same way that Alan Wake was looking at trees. Go look at some pictures and tell me if when you see trees you see some trees or a whole f**king lot of trees. The Alan Wake trees are set on a Lego platform. There are some. That is not how trees really look in the northwest.

And no, that is not top three on consoles in ANYTHING. There are at least 10 games that look much better. There are at least 10 with much better stories (from the recent videos). There are at least 10 with smoother gameplay (from the little we've seen). And I swear if I hear one more thing about the lighting. There is usually one (1) source of light in Alan Wake. It isn't hard to make the small area that the one (1) source hits look okay. Stop saying that the lighting is incredible. The light looks good. The light. One (1) light.

@below: I wonder if a voice from the sky will make this game look and play like you promised it would. Right now the heavens are silent.

game looks good, but there's quite a big difference between the cut-scenes and gameplay.. furthermore, now that I've seen daylight gameplay, it's very obvious that it comes nowhere near uncharted 2's graphics.

That looks good so far. There isn't much to see yet though in this second ten min. Love the scenery on the ferry but I was surprised they FMVed right to the diner. Would've been nice to see the drive to there.

Need more footage though still. So far the playable environments are extremely small. We have a very visually controlled ferry ride, A small diner, and an island with a cabin, shed, and deck. Nothing graphically challenging considering how little is going on. Oh yeah and as someone mentioned earlier... it looks nothing like the Pacific Northwest. That place is studded literally with trees. The landscape feels more like Utah than Colorado and certainly less than Oregon.

Man it has atmosphere in spades... awesome. The cutscenes DO look noticeably better and are quite gorgeous, and while that little bit makes me think that the daytime visuals suffer compared to the night ones, that scene on the lake is pretty gorgeous any way you slice it.

I think this is my last time posting here and reading peoples comments... I'm tired of people fighting over which console is better. I own both the PS3 and Xbox 360, both are pretty even graphically. I havn't seen either system produce a game that is leaps ahead of the competetion. I guess there is still time for this generation to change my opinion. I will admit the only games I have for my PS3 are Uncharted1 and 2, and Killzone 2. So it is quite clear I think the Xbox is the better console for gaming. Disagree if you will, I own both so atleast my opinion is valid. Good Day!

That is the one thing I can find in common about those games. The Heavy Rain voice actors had a hard time. Alan Wake seems to have the same problem. I just hope there isn't a "Jason! JAAAAAAY-son" scene in Alan Wake.

Did you see the G4 podcast about Heavy Rain? LOL stuff. They commented on the team for Heavy Rain and how maybe they rushed through the voice acting because of the time spent making the technical parts. The skinny dude was like "Oh hell no! Did you see the 'making of' videos? They're on the disk. They finished the acting and were like 'Yeah! Great job, people! Oscars are incoming." They concluded that using European actors for an American based game didn't work. I totally agree. I thought Shelby's guy did a great job. But the others were just plain wrong.

I really want this game to be good...no...great..What gets me, and I'm sure many people who are called Sony fanboys, is not that I want any game to fail just because of the console its on. In fact as a gamer i would love to see great games be released one after the other till I'm flat broke on any system(even the Wii).

The big problem is that when a game get way too over hyped just because its an exclusive with a long development cycle and fans and players get sucked into this illusion and believe that a game is better than it really is thus promoting not excellent games but excellent hype machines.

The biggest hype machine is Microsoft on any standard and no one can refute the hundreds of millions spent to over hype and over promote mediocre games(not to say Sony or Nintendo don't do so also). My point is that I want the game to be great on its own merits and not the blinding hype surrounding it which is common these days and prevalent but not exclusive to the M$ camp.

HAHAHAHAHAHA idiots using the CGI to make stupid statements that this game blows GOW3 and Uncharted 2 out the water (must of the comments from the first 10mins of this game) from a visual (graphic) perspective.... the actual gameplay takes noticeable drop in quality. I am not even going to start talking about the silly character animation (laughable).

Guys seriously... there is a clear difference between the story driven CGI and the actual gameplay. I will give you this... its the best looking 360 game and that is as far as it goes. 2 yrs and counting for anything on the 360 to look as good as even Killzone 2, I am not even going to insult the developers of Uncharted 2 and GOW3 with this inferior effort called Alan Wake.

After that one trailer with the rain on the girls face and everyone was like "OMFG!!!!!!""&a mp;q uot;" the devs came out and said the cinematics are pre-rendered using the games engine, BUT the character models were sawpped out with a higher detailed models because the camera gets this close

Wow, a few things bugged me about that video lol.

Twice, Alan said "I love you too" - When the two different people he was talking to didn't even say "I love you" in the first place. Sure, it could maybe fit with what the two people were saying to him, but it just struck me as odd that he'd reply with that :S

Another thing was the voice-acting.. made it kind of hard to watch. I'd think the person who had the best voice acting was the guy on the radio haha.

And this is just my point of view, (Well this whole comment is, but yeah) but damn Alice is UUUUUGLY haha. Also, the person playing was an idiot.
