Nintendo Says 3DS Biggest Handheld Product Since 2004

Nintendo Co., projecting the first drop in annual sales of its DS handheld player, said the forthcoming 3-D model will be the company's biggest portable product introduction since 2004.

"We have ideas of what we want to bring to the consumer that we can't do with the current" DS model, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said in an interview yesterday. "The Nintendo 3DS for us is our next handheld platform."

Day 1. I bought the DS "phat" day one in 2004, so here I go again. :)

i hope so. the damn buttons on those things get my hands all cramped.

By "biggest" he means as a product launch for Nintendo. Their legacy handhelds have went Game Boy to DS. Now it will go from DS to 3DS (tentative name). This means it will replace the DS as the flagship handheld. Like back in 2004 when DS replaced the Game Boy.

oh... sooo i guess i will have cramped hands again :(

i hope they give it a proper size i dont have huge hands but big enough to only play like 20 min. till i feel like throwing the damn thing cause i cant get a comfortable hold on it. psp 3000 size would be sweet!

i guess it wouldnt be so confusing if they didnt release so many different ds's in short time.. but they sell like crazy and if i owned it i would surely do the same..

Have you tried the XL? The form factor is apparently great,
especially the stylus. Sounds like just what you need.

In fact, I think if demand is high enough they might release a chunky and a slim 3DS... but they'll probably keep them as different increments, it makes good business sense.

print money! ... in 3D!

I'm sure it will be very successful for Nintendo, I don't think anyone would disagree.

I'm very excited for it to make its appearance come E3, and take a look at its upcoming game library.

Can't wait to see how Sony will counter with the PSP2. I just hope it really doesn't turn out to be a phone.

First of all its not going to even have max gamecube level graphics so relax.

Plus its already beaten the other systems even before it released

Nitnendo was smart to make it bc. So everyone who had a ds will get this.

Its going to be the biggest handheld ever

Why wouldn't it have Gamecube graphics? I'd actually say there's a higher chance of it being more powerful than less powerful. It's the way Nintendo does things.

following the pattern 3DS=Gamecube
