Re-Evaluated: Diablo III's Release Date

What many don't realise is that Diablo III's release date is likely closely tied to the release of StarCraft 2.

That does unfortunately NOT mean it will be released at the same time or even right after. All it means it's part of Blizzard's internal release schedules (yes, they most likely have them, they just don't pay that much attention to them), and that relates to StarCraft 2.

I would have take Diablo 3 before starcraft 2. Even if i like starcraft so far i have not been impressed by it, it is just too much of the same.

Since they kept pushing SC2 back, I wouldn't be surprised if D3 isn't too far behind - but it will be interesting (with the 2 SC2 expansions lined up) to see how they handle the releases.

I'd agree that it's probably going to be released at the end of 2011, but blizzard probably have their hands completely full since announcing that sc2 will be split into 3 games.

However, I'm not sure what kind of pull Activision has over Blizzard games. I am quite concerned that this game will have a $60+ price tag, or that DLC will completely overtake the game. Anyone have any insight to this?

I think Blizzard do pay close attention to their schedules. They just allow themselves plenty of time to get things done.

I think it's kinda pathetic that people spend so much of their time trying to figure out the release date of a video game. Seriously, it'll come out when it comes out. What's the point of this? Even if you DID find out that it's coming out in April 2012, what difference will it make? You'll still have to wait until that time to play it. It's not like figuring it out will enable to you play it immediately. And even if it did, IT'S A GAME.

What about the people who want to buy the game but know there are other games coming out they want to get then they have to do something called budgeting you probably wouldnt know about that if your parents give you everything you want. If they gave a date then a person could say shyt im not spending my money on this ill save it on that thats why dates are important to know. But I dont think it will be the diablo every1 came to know. The makers of it are not working on it most of the developers left blizzard to make other titles like Hellgate and GuildWars. Also from what I seen I dont think its a good direction they taking Diablo in. Only thing I can say about it so far that it looks nice and the boss battle looked kind of cool.

It will be summer 2010 at the earliest....you've got SC2 this summer and WOW: Cataclysm in the Fall and then let the WoWers have their fun and let that expansion get stale in time for D3
