Gran Turismo 5 is coming later this year to a game store near you and according to recent numbers obtained by GamePlan, the highly anticipated title will be a sure system seller.
The Real Driving Simulator is also The Real System Seller.
GT5 is marked for greatness!!!
Only a fool would deny GT5s inevitable domination.
It'll sure come in strong |:)
I'm sure GT5 will be a system seller but I don't believe that 39% of people who want GT5 don't own a PS3 already.
As cool as it might be, I have to agree with you. 39% seems like alot. Picking up a new wheel in a few weeks. Any suggestions? don't wanna spend more than a couple hundred. Edit: @ Cold I agree seems suspect but when doesn't PR seem that way.
Wow so people planning to buy GT5 weren't interested in MGS4, GT5 prologue, GTA4, DMC4, Resident Evil 5, KZ2, Ratchet and Clank, Tekken 6, GOW3, Final Fantasy 13....I only named "traditional" Playstation franchises (though some are now multi) just to show that there's something fishy in that "39%" figure.
You see that... and then My Comments get Lot of Disagrees for Saying that GT Series got Fans all over the World...
Number speak louder than words and when GT5 releases we'll see whats what. Personally I know only 2 people who do want GT5 who have a system already but I live in the states, GT5 has been traditionally more popular in Europe.
the first gt sold over 10 mill i believe it was released in 1997/98. sales definitely wont be a problem for gt5
I'm surprised with the popularity of this genre. I'm not into it, but there clearly is a strong following for it. GT5 has to be perfect at this point considering all the attention that is going into it. Can't wait to see how it does.
Funny how all people can do is disagree when they cant handle the truth. Disagrees with no counter arguments just means I'm actually right :)
It might turn out to be the biggest system seller this generation. The community for this series goes far beyond gaming.
Yes, your right. GT fans are pretty obsessed about anything Gran Turismo, and amazingly they get more info about anything Polyphony Digital/Gran Turismo than Sony would want to release. When GT5 prologue released, I seem to remember Logitech reporting a massive sales spike for G25's. You should try visit GTPlanet some time.
@cold "Disagrees with no counter arguments just means I'm actually right :) " That or your comments are so lame and your constant trolling so annoying very few want to waste their time replying to you.
Cold don't you usually complain about ps3 fanboys being in 360 threads???
lol.. Look at cold trolling, as usual. Then we'll all see him in the next 360 thread whining about how the big bad sony fanboys are "the worst" etc. One of the few living, breathing contradictions on this site.
And there's nothing fishy about that 39% figure. A huge chunk of the Gran Turismo fanbase don't actually play any games at all other than Gran Turismo. Those are the car enthusiasts, not just videogamers like the majority of Forza's fanbase. Which is why barely any of the "definitive" features of Forza attract any attention at all from them. Why do you think GT sells so well? Because non-gamers would buy a Playstation JUST for that game.
but we are talking about the king of driving sims here. Anyone with the slightest interest in racing will want to get his hands on it.
lol 3 disagrees and counting.... Believe it or Not, lot of people Love Gran Turismo Games and I'm not talking about only "Gamers", kids/teens to grandpas that love these Games and are Crazy for playing GT5 There are Real Fanatics of The Gran Turismo Series
@Cold or maybe because you have 137 ignore's ? soon 138
Is that really a surprise?
its more like this "The Real Driving Arcade is also The Real System Seller" Real Racing Simulator fans knows that. "Wow so people planning to buy GT5 weren't interested in MGS4, GT5 prologue, GTA4, DMC4, Resident Evil 5, KZ2, Ratchet and Clank, Tekken 6, GOW3, Final Fantasy 13....I only named "traditional" Playstation franchises (though some are now multi) just to show that there's something fishy in that "39%" figure" Sorry but Cold have a point there i know its hurting your fanboys fncked souls but its true. OH I KNOW SOMEBODY WHO GOT HURT IS GOIN TO REPORT THIS COMMENT AHH whiners.
A LOT of people who buy GT aren't even gamers at all. They buy GT because of the reputation its built up as a top driving simulator.
OMG, i laughed my @ss reading this title. I understand people try to put spin on thing's. But i seriously think within gaming news this is the funniest title i have read yet on N4G.....man i swear that's funny.
@ ThatCanadianguy420 ~ "lol.. Look at cold trolling, as usual. Then we'll all see him in the next 360 thread whining about how the big bad sony fanboys are "the worst" etc. One of the few living, breathing contradictions on this site." What do you mean "few"?!?! There are MANY...
I have absolutely no interest in MGS4, DMC4, Resident Evil 5, KZ2, Ratchet and Clank, Tekken 6, GOW3, Final Fantasy 13. The only two reasons I bought a PS3 was for GT5 and the BlueRay player. Other than that any other game available to date and any game I know of thats coming to the PS3(other than GT5) is of no interest to me. @Everyone else. I also bought an Xbox 360 for PGR3 , PGR4 , Forza 2 and Forza 3. Forza 3 is keeping me going console wise until GT5 arrives.
lol, cold2000 has no idea, how big the Gran Turismo franchise is.. It will be the biggest and most influential game of this generation..
cold2000 is here on n4g almost all fn day trollin as if he has no games to play... oh wait, hes pro360, never mind, now i know why. @cold 2000, no games to play huh?
Too many waiting for the release of this game.
will compete with the king of driving sim games Forza 3. Forza 3 is a beast.
A definitive beast that relied on bullshots to gain attention, failed to sell more than 200,000 copies in its first month of release, had horrible multi-player, is currently being bundled in every single Xbox 360 to boost its sales numbers, etc etc etc. Let's see if Gran Turismo 5 can top that (Note there is a tremendous amount of sarcasm in the previous sentence.)
@hardcore I hope your joking
I believe every GT game has been packaged with a PS at some point in time. There is nothing wrong with that nor should it be used as a negative point. The Forza 3 bullshots you are referring to are replay shots, that use higher res cars, better AA and more effects. The same is done in GT during its replays. Again, not to be used as a negative point. Also not saying Forza 3 looks just as good or better than GT5. I won't argue sales as I don't know the numbers nor do I care. Point being, there are people who are playing Forza 3 and love it. When GT5 comes out, it will prove itself or fail. Let the game defend itself. This goes for both camps.
Says Gradient/Saaking who pretends he has a 360. "A definitive beast that relied on bullshots to gain attention, failed to sell more than 200,000 copies in its first month of release, had horrible multi-player, is currently being bundled in every single Xbox 360 to boost its sales numbers, etc etc etc." Right and GT5 doesn't use bullshot replay race videos to show off the game.. riight Horrible mult-player? Are you kidding me? Now I know you haven't played it. Not bumper cars enough for you prolly. Forza 3 is one bundle so stop with the exaggerations. Forza 3 has sold over 1 million since launch which you know stacks up well against other titles sales on your precious.
Gradient: Forza Motorsport 3 has sold over 1 million units as of December 8th, 2009. http://www.joystiq.com/2009... Forza 3 in the US alone sold over 175k in the first month of release, the game also sold nearly 32k in Japan in the first week of release. http://vgsales.wikia.com/wi... http://kotaku.com/5393967/f... Last time I checked, 175k + 32k is a bit more than 200k, and that's not even including Europe where it was in the Top 10 for various countries for quite some time. Assuming you actually played the game, what didn't you like about the multiplayer?
Gran Turismo 5 will probably sell between 12-16 Million lifetime. (depending on Meta Score & Advertising) While Forza 3 would be extremely lucky to exceed 4 Million lifetime. That would be like PS3 owners trying to compare the sells of Heavy Rain to Halo 3. (Why bother, it doesn't have a chance) Forza has a lack of polish and content when compared to Gran Turismo, but is still an enjoyable game, but to compare the sales is nonsense. @Cold A good percentage of Gran Turismo fans don't play video games at all, except Gran Turismo. People in the auto industry that have nothing to do with video games, go out of their way to make sure they own a Playstation & a copy of the latest Gran Turismo when it is released. The Gran Turismo franchise is bigger than any other franchise on PS3 or 360, it will sell more PS3's than Halo & Gears sell 360's combined.
Gran Turismo 4 10.53m Gran Turismo 4 Prologue 1.36m Gran Turismo 5 Prologue 3.60m and if you put some math into it gran turismo will sale 15 million to 30 million copys in 5 years Forza Motorsport 1.07m Forza Motorsport 2 3.99m Forza Motorsport 3 2.36m basically gran turismo comes out with a major installment every 3 years excluding 5 which took 5 years while forza makes one every 2 years
My most anticipated game this year. (Hopefully this year)
It's comfirmed for a late 2010 release..
Sony must get the marketing going and advertise all the new things about GT5 over the previous entires: like weather, vehicle damage, NASCAR, WRC etc
I'm not surprised. Expect G27 sales to spike as well.
honestly I want Logitech to bring out a newer model sooner rather than later. I want a bigger wheel with a wider grip and a better shifter that also supports sequential. I had the G27 but ended up going back to the G25. The G27 wheel itself feels nicer but I need the sequential option. I also have a Fanatec 911S that works for both consoles. That wheel is beast but I think the Logitech is just a hair more responsive. Either way I am going to log some serious hours on both wheels when GT5 is released. I just got the final parts to put the finishing touches on my newest racing setup. I cant wait for this title! My most anticipated title for the remainder of the year.
I want the whole "driving in a car" experience. I wish they sold rigs so I wouldn't have to build one.
lots of places sell racing rigs. Of course you have to assemble them when they arrive but some places sell the entire setup. Racing rig, wheel, games, displays, sound system, etc.. Everything you need to put together a setup. Right now I am rocking a playseat evolution (on a riser I built to house buttkickers) but I am waiting on a Rennsport from Fanatec. I have a 32" 1080p display, 7.1 processor, speakers & sub, tactile transducers (buttkickers), cup holder, place to store remote and games. And all of it is just a couple feet from the fridge and restroom. ;) Life is good! It's most cost effective if you build your own but you don't have to.
@ boodybandit ~ You could mod the G25 to use an actual wheel, change out the sequential paddles to match as well as other mods for the shifter and more...here is one that has it all (just about) http://www.youtube.com/watc... He has a Momo wheel with an adapter plate that he makes/sells along with carbon fiber paddles, inverted pedals WITH a hydraulic pedal mod (that DOES work on the PS3) plus mods to the stick shift to improve feel and lastly an added e-brake mod in a custom chassis he built/modeled off the dimensions of an S2000 interior. If you want to have a nice setup for PS3/GT and anything PC then the info is out there and pretty easy to do! I myself am going to do a few just before GT5 drops..explained below @ pixelsword ~ As BB said you can buy a few different rigs but it all depends on how much room you have and how much money you want to spend! There are rigs that are under a couple hundred bucks on up to or more than $1000...EASY! I have an original Obutto oZone that I did a review on for the site I moderate at that you can read about if you would like here -> ( http://forums.afterdawn.com... ) ...but they just introduced a new model with some improvements ( http://www.obutto.com/produ... ) if you want to check that one out! I personally went with the Obutto because it was VERY flexible in it's setup arrangement and came with additional options that other rigs did not support or even offered plus when I got it, it was on sale and I got a REALLY good price! Check them out, as well as others (GTPlanet is a good place to start or the RaceSimCentral forums if interested) before you start building something because depending on how you decide to go the cost for parts, time, layout, design & time to create may not always be "cheaper". So it may be more beneficial to just buy something quality and be good to go immediately! Which is what happened to me as I was originally going to build something but this worked out SOOOO much better for cost & time savings. Anyway I'll wrap this up with a short video of my Obutto oZone & G25 with a small list of "things I'm planning to do before GT5 releases" ~ http://www.youtube.com/watc... Invert Pedals ~ Easy & Free/Cheap Possibly do the hydraulic pedal mod ~ Easy but costly Mod shifter for better more accurate feel ~ Easy & Free/Cheap Mod shifter for use with a real Momo Knob ~ Easy & Free/Cheap Mod G25 & Obutto oZone to use an e-brake ~ Easy & Free/Cheap Mod Obutto to be able to roll into or away from 60" Bravia Mod Obutto as needed for the use of a Camera for head tracking Mod Obutto to use/house a buttkicker ~ Easy but a couple dollars for it Mod Obutto as needed to mount a PSP with a quick disconnect holder of some sort IF that is GT will support/utilize it as a rear view mirror OR data output screen ~ Easy to Moderate maybe Free/Cheap or a few dollars
my playseat chair sucks. I cant wait till my new one arrives. Thanks for the links to the mods. I am going to look into them.
I am sticking to my G25. i see no point to upgrade when all they brought was minor improvements that moding would solve. :/
@ boodybandit ~ You're welcome for the links, and the chair is actually pretty comfortable as it is a modeled after a real car race seat and even has a lower back bolster adjustment dial as well! @ Theonik ~ I agree 100% and why I am staying with my G25. At first I was like <damn it> that I wanted the G27 when it was announced but outside of it having more face buttons on the wheel that was the only "upgrade" that really interested me but ultimately not enough to buy a new wheel. Yes it does have some additional things like slightly adjustable pedals, a gear shift light, and helical gears over straight cut ones internally and what ever other minor stuff there may be but all that really means nothing to me... Now the removal of sequential shifting (especially how you could do it on the the fly) killed it for me. It's not worth the extra cost for what you get/lose. Save the money and get a new old stock G25 and you are set!
@Oner I agree, also by getting a G25 you can save more than 100 Euro, money you could spend towards something else like a buttkicker. (really good low frequency bass speaker that is used to give you the sensation of seating on an actual race seat. (it makes vibrations basically in accordance to the engine sound) Btw i mentioned mods because i found some very good ones that can improve the actual feel of let's say the shifter while maintaining the sequential mode. :)
GOTY 2010 is coming, prepare for unrivalled greatness.
If a racing game actually won GOTY, I would be pretty upset with the gaming community. As good as they may be, I don't see how any racing game could win GOTY awards, unless every other title that year was nothing but mindless playtime.
If a game is nearly perfect, no matter which genre, it deserves the goty award... And if there is one developer, who can create the best racing game of all time, it's Polyphony Digital.
I can sit and play racers on my c0ckpit for hours into days into months on end.
this proves ps3 not have good games and not have more appeal for gamers. I feel bad for ps3 owners... the PS3 launches at $600 and becoming the 3rd fastest selling console of all time but that was because of the hype of ps3 fanboys and later on it was hit hard by ps slim and still going down in sales!
@above; you have no idea what you are talking about. I would list all the great titles that are exclusive to PS3, but GOTY's speak for themselves. To say PS3 has no games also means that no multiplat game is good in your eyes, If you only own 360 exclusives then I feel very sorry for you.
not another spammer(ps3hasnogamess) kindly everyone report him as(SPAM)
Those are the same people who don't have enough confidence in GT5s actual existence to go ahead and buy a PS3 in the meantime.
They better work out that PS3 shortage then. I'm excited for this one. I have been holding off on getting Forza 3 in anticipation for GT5.
I think God of War 3 sold consoles for Sony. Gran Turismo 5 will do the same. This 39% thing proves nowt really, but like I say, consoles will sell when Gran Turismo 5 is finally released. I'm just hoping that it's not going to be the same old tracks which was the case with the last one. My biggest gripe about racers these days is the same old tracks.
While I don't disagree, I'd be willing to bet that actual racers do. Those same old tracks a) are the same old tracks that actually exist, and that just doesn't seem to be changing and b) give experienced racers a distinct advantage over newer entrants.
about study but i do know 4,5 persons who dont have ps3 or other console(lack of time or whatever)but re planing to get ps3 with gt5,when releases. so there is some truth in this
I know 2 people only waiting for GT5 before getting a PS3. Maybe 39% is a bit high but I'm not surprise if there are a lot of people waiting for just GT5.
Two words: System seller
I am pretty sure that at least 90% of ps3 owners will buy this game
Not me. I'm sorry, but racers just don't interest me. But there's no denying the raw selling power of this franchise, because I too know many people planning on buying this. The only racer I ever played extensively was CTR :P I'm looking forward to TLG way more than this. Hopefully it ends up with a 2010 release date.
sry GT5 has a huge following but i think GT5 Following is like wii fit following only hardcore car/racing fans will buy it and wii fit a lot of women bought that crap "to get in shape".
Horrible comparison, my friend. Waiting for Gran Turismo is nothing like waiting for the Wii to get you in shape.
