i suppose because of all the disagrees not many folks have heard of pornhub.com. free porn, no flash. i can even save it to my iphone if its a top notch porn. thats just one site among many. sounds like some people have really been missing out! im starting to understand the iphone hate is in big part because of misiformation. porn is possible!!

iPad isnt meant to be a laptop. its more of a netbook competitor. i do agree no flash is going to hurt it overall but when they make custom firmware the ipad will be able to do a TON more than it can now. a jailbroken iphone has NO competition. it can do anything any phone can do but better and faster. unless someones spent some decent time with one you really wouldnt have an idea.

MS releasing Word online is a huge step forward for mobile products. WHEN more companies start with the same online compatibility the iPad and other tablets like it are going to skyrocket in productivity and sales

Ipad has no.....usb socket,sd card slot,camera

It runs an upgraded iphone OS,it cannot multi-task,doesn't support flash but uses HTML5

I think netbook has this won hands down,ipad is a glorified itouch,people defending this thing are the reason apple can put out trash and it sells like crazy,its sold 700,000 in its first weekend.

Why the hell it doesn't use snow leopard OS is beyond me.

It's not a TERRIBLE product, but for the money to power ratio, the iffy interface, and big flat design, I wouldn't bother.

Could anyone tell me how much time usually passes between every "new generation" of Apple products??
What I mean is that I remember the original Iphone launched around the middle of 2008 and the "new generation", the 3G, about a year later

So Apple launches their improved versions every year right?

BTW the laptop can be turned 90 degrees and fold so it stands and i can read pages in portrait form without holding it !!!

While iPad always needs your hands or a stand, and is very big also

i saw so much potential until i saw how much apple restricted the use ipad. no flash support? how is the ipad suppose to be the best way to surf the web if it doesn't support the most widely used video/animation tool on the web. on the iphone/itouch it's understandable but on the ipad there is no excuses i imagined myself being able to go on hulu when i'm on my commute to watch tv shows but i guess that won't be happening. this along with no multitasking and high starting price i won't be jumping in any time soon i am however looking forward to the notion ink adam looks very promising and looks to be what the ipad should have been

I don't completely disagree with Apple about the Flash thing. Flash is a resource hog and can lock up a browser faster than anything. Unless someone takes the first stand nobody else will follow. Adobe really does need to fix their stuff.

you have a pointed but this is not how to fix it. what apple should have done is gotten a bunch of other companies together and said "hey adobe if you don't fix flash we won't supporting in future products". Restricting flash support on the ipad will make adobe do nothing one product isn't going to change the world, even if apple may want it too. I agree flash definitely has it's problems but that fact remained the majority of websites ues this and there aren't many good alternatives HTML 5 isn't really the answer. it's only a problem if you can offer solution

I could see this being the perfect device for casual computer user but that's it. It seems like it does a good job at what it offers but they left out too much for that price.

BTW, I loved the ABC application and battery life. Really impressive. Wouldn't buy it though.

No SD card slot? What if you want to view those pictures you just took? You gotta upload them to the web, THEN download them to your iPad. What a waste of time and effort.

I don't understand what's the point with storing pictures on the iPad or even having a photos app for it. It doesn't even have a proper photo editing program. iPhone I can understand since it has a camera at least. But the ipad? I don't evne see a point in using that as a digital picture frame.

There's no SD slot because if there was it would ruin their illogical pricing structure. 16GB of memory doesn't really cost $100, more like half than that, neither does 32GB. Nor for that matter does a 3G chip add $130 to the cost.

Since Apple's customers are let's face it, on the whole are pretty technologically clueless though, Apple can get away with it.

I never liked Tablet PCs or touch screens. When you press things, your hand gets in the field of vision making the work/game inconvenient.

No phone can beat a jailbrake Iphone the same will repeat on the Ipad :)

It runs Windows Vista (pre installed)

After a week of tweaking i actually made Vista work fine and everything runs almost as fast as my 2.4Ghz quad desktop, the Vaio is an amazingly well put together piece of hardware, even though it has 2.0Ghz Dual CPU and not the best of video cards

The video card is a bit behind, but should be 10x stronger than iPad one anyway and plays all games i am interested in

Right now i can

- play Blu Ray disks

- write DVD's

- watch 720p HD movies in their full glory

- plug to my external 32'' full HD screen and watch in 1080p

- develop my XBLA RPG for xbox360 in C# and create its art in my drawing programs using a tablet for both painting and vector drawing

- listen to music, both from stored on HDD and youtube etc

- edit music

- browse the net with every plug in i like and download accelerators

- insert an external HDD filled with movies/music and play anything out of my huge collection

- create documents, presentations for my PhD and actually take the laptop to do the presentations on site

- play most games fine, both old ones like Sierra advantures and emulator ones, and new like Whispered world and other advenures and RPGs that are inspiration for my XBLA game

- use it vertically to read PDF books, adobe has a feature to rotate the documents, and the laptop can stand on its own vertically when opened a few degrees from 180, meaning i can read books in their page format (unlike iPad that has almost renctangular screen) and never get tired, since i do not have to have it in my hands

- chat and take pics with its camera

- preview my XBLA game on my 32'' TV, to get an idea how it will actually look on TV, plug a 360 controller on the Laptop to play with xbox controls, and draw on my TV which is far more fun and relaxing than any PC screen, you get a much better idea for colors nd shapes on the big screen

- a million more things that i could never do with iPad

And all that in a extremely compact, light and with proper screen size and shape device. I can fit my laptop, drawing tablet, external 500GB HDD, power supply, small headphones, 360 controller and a mouse in a tiny bag that i can take anywhere easilly

The cost of the laptop was like the cost of the most expensive iPad version, and was worth every penny might i add, i take it everywhere and is the first laptop i had that is so powerfull and i actually rarely work on my desktop quad anymore, it is that good

your comment is fail, you know every laptop (including mine) can do that, but the iPad does it with a TACTILE screen so everything is easier, it weighs a ton less than a laptop, and reading a book actually feels like a real one (I loled when you said you put the laptop vertically xD)

So yeah it's an entire new league, it's not a laptop nor an ipod

Tried laptops , tablets , psp , netbooks , none of them fulfilled ALL of the above criterias , only a few of them ... and some of the devices , namely , tablets were even more expensive .

And that is only one of my potential uses for a (cheaper and probably 2nd or 3rd gen) ipad .
