Ubisoft Respond To Conviction PS3 Listing

Last night it emerged that a Ubisoft employee had listed Splinter Cell: Conviction for PlayStation 3 on his LinkedIn profile. Today, a response has been made.

ConnectedConsoles was told by the developing and publishing giant that there has been "no change from before, nothing's been officially announced or confirmed as being in development."

You can avoid to develop for a system that has a 15 million userbase (XBOX) if you develop exclusively for a system that has nearly 100 mil (PS2)

You can avoid to develop for a system that has less than half the userbase than the other (when 360 doubled the PS3 with 20 mil against 10 mil)

You can't avoid any one of the systems since they have more or less (RROD and YLOD included) the same userbase, and where, lately, games sell more or less the same amount.

The demo looked pretty good to me. There is such a thing as upscaling you know, which the 360 does very well. The bottom line is, it looks good and it's fun to play.

The term console exclusive was made up by MS due to the lack of true console exclusives. You can be a ps3 only owner and play 3/4 of the "exclusives" that are on the 360. Cyborg, I never really think of what's available on PC, as I'm not a PC gamer. Many people only play on the console. People can go by SC for their PC if they won't to, but the overwhelming majority of those people won't have the luxury of playing it in their living rooms on their TV's unless they have a 360. If playing a PS3/PC combo works for you, then great. I have no interest in playing games on the PC when I can play on a console.

And by the way, SC looks great. I've played the demo and it upscales quite nicely.

I find it funny that third party developers think we are stupid. By now we all know what the deal is. The games are exclusive for like 6-12 months then go multi-platform. It has been going on this whole generation and we are too far into this generation for them to think we don't know after seeing it happen time and time again.

As all the butt hurt MS fanboys have already stated in here, there is no way Splinter Cell Conviction is coming to PS3.....But that doesn't mean Splinter Cell Conviction Sigma isn't.

I love how all the fanboys riding a particular manufacturers d!ck will deny games going multiplat till they go blue in the face...I also like how the blueness quickly turns to red when said games do go to there hated system. I mean as if Bungie made the move away from MS to be independent so they could stick to making exclusives for a console that may not even make it to 50million sold, same goes with PS3...It ain't gonna end up like last gen with PS3 100million clear of rivals, I think Nintendo has this gen stitched up, and will probably end up around the 70-80million mark, while Sony and MS share a 50/50 split for the rest...Which means that they will both probably end up selling around the 50-60million mark each...so Bungie would be crazy not to aim for 100million potential customers, as opposed to half that, same with Insomniac and others in similar 3rd party positions.

As far as I know it remains a 360 exclusive and should be out in a couple of weeks so everyone will know if it is good or not. IMO SplinterCell is a game that has the same fans that played the first one, it's not really a title that will bring in a huge number of new gamers, but the fans of the series are very loyal. I have played every SplinterCell game, but I'm way more loyal to sony so I won't be picking this one up unless it comes to the PS3...so most likely I'm out of luck on this one, but we'll see.

Im really not interested in this title in the least. I personally think the previous splinter cell looked a hell of alot better. After playing some major exsclusives on the ps3 I cant see myself playing a 570p title. I think sony has turned me into an exsclusive whore :) The demo for this game was garbage, the gfx are sub par. Its a risk to take in hope of making more money Vs not making any or not alot, so its up to them to take the risk.

A real stealth game is MGS4, when you can act like you are dead, match the things you lay on or sit by. Plus you can choose to use weapons that don't kill an make some weapons to put people to sleep (Weird to a shotgun put someone to sleep an not kill them).

Oh and by the way, Metal Gear Solid 4 wasn't boring. It got 10/10 form IGN (first game to do so) and it was the best game i have ever played alongside Uncharted 2, GOW3, Assassin's creed 2, Heavy Rain and Modern Warfare 2. Splinter Cell demo looked bland.

I have both a 360 & a ps3 and I still have no interest in this based solely on my history playing the other games in the franchise. Awful mechanics, stiff movement, and stupid enemies that can't figure out that if some unseen assailant is shooting out light bulbs with a silencer, than maybe they should call in for some backup or something.
