EA has announced the listing of the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 master server status across all platforms.
What about lag? I played the 360 version yesterday and it lagged so much it was unplayable. Doesn't matter if the servers are up if they can't handle the traffic.
Played the PC version few hours ago, was working solid. Doesnt the console version show server pings? this game should have dedicated servers on consoles too.
Good to hear but it doesn't really help me :) Perhaps it was coincidental. Jumping into another game helped get rid of it, but it's still annoying when it happens. EA & Dice should know better by now. Not exactly the first time they publish a big online title.
Does it show you the servers with low ping on them? just wanna know for my knowledge. If i doesnt then it just might be its automatically selecting a server for you. Could be selecting a high ping server sometimes.
Console version provide zero server info. Select game type, click join game and that's it. No ping, player count etc nothing. The joy that is matchmaking.
is one console game that I know that has some hard server info. That's Warhawk... it had Ping for every player. You can pick a server or choose Play now but of course you pick it you're self course that's a option. It's kind of hard going from that fashion to full auto : L
I have it for the PS3 and I definitely notice lag a bit more than some other games. There has been a few times that a friend was on the enemy team where I started shooting him first by 1 to 2 secs to have him turn and what seems to kill me with one shot but then when I talk to them and from their point of view they were shooting first by around the same 1 to 2 secs. We should also have a choice of playing on local servers by country because i would guess I would get more lag if I'm playing on European servers while being in America and vice versa for them. Sucks not having ping indicators for most console online games.
ping, are you crazy? most console games don't even allow you to choose between EU or US servers.
Re: Lag I'm not having any lag trouble on the PS3 version. I've noticed it a couple of times. I've gotten a couple of disconnects and the game has locked the PS3 up twice which was super annoying. But overall I think this game is pretty solid in the MP code when EAs servers are running properly. Re: Ping Since EA runs the servers for the console versions it doesn't make any sense to show ping it's just going to confuse people on consoles. The game is going to take ping into account and the matchmaking algorithm is going to pick the lowest ping game of the type you want to play with a critical mass of players. On the PC, when you have zillions of wildly varying user run servers with different locations, settings, bandwidth, etc, knowing ping and other details about the server is much more important.
lols at that... It would suck I like 32 players aswell
it is running smooth as hell on the PS3!the only time it lags sometimes is when someone comes on or someone gets out.HARCORE MODE is ONLINE MADNESS!!!
I get that as well all the time. But it's prob more to do with me living in Tasmania than the servers. Still very annoying and unfair when everyone has a 1 second advantage on me. I'd be a very deadly pplayer if that wasn't the case. I'm very good when the knife, but almost always after I stab the enemy, they shoot me and my kill doesn't register. For that reason, I almost never knife kill now.
I've been getting lag and bootings all week on my PS3 with this game. It worked fine until now. Even when it released and everyone was being kicked it only happened to me twice. I guess the extra traffic is killing this game for me :(
A welcome addition to the site.. It'll definately come in handy some day, I'm sure. :D Now, We just need a server status in each version of the game so that we won't need to come onto their site just to check on how the servers are doing.. come on, It's common sense. :) And, EA needs to make sure that their servers don't fail again anymore from here on out! >:l
