The Hachiko: God of War III Review

God of War III is finally here! It's the first game for the PS3, but yet it's supposedly the last game for our leading man Kratos. It doesn't matter which way you look at it, however, as it's a remarkable technological and innovative game, while yet being a nice swansong for Kratos. The game isn't without a few nitpicking problems here and there, but overall it's an excellent game.

I think N4G are trying to get Xbox fanboys excited, lol.

Edit: Too late N4G spotted it. :)

You do realize a 4.5 out of 5 is the SAME as a 9/10.....

"The only real problem, when it comes to fighting, is that the game is too button-masher friendly, and lacks the skill needed of a Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden/Bayonetta. You point Kratos at a group of enemies, hammer on the buttons, and watch as cool things happen. You will have to block and dodge against stronger (and smarter) enemies, but all in all the only combat challenges come against the satyrs (jerks) and the bosses."

Try Titan mode and tell me that. I really think the default setting on game difficulty is getting easier each gen, I've been killed 100's of times over the course of a play through on Titan mode and with such generous checkpoint systems that's how it should be. I'd love to abolish "normal" difficulty on all games, but that wouldn't suit the attention deficit gang, instead a large portion of gamers fire a game up on easy/normal, tear through it in 9 hours without once having to think of tactics and then complain about its brevity and repetitiousness. A lot of people just don't want a challenge anymore and developers have reacted accordingly. I think this is one of the reasons the hardcore gaming public reacted so well to Demons Souls, a game that teaches hard lessons also gives great rewards.

I agree with you Dipso, I started God of War 3 on Titan mode right off the bat, and there's no way you can go through it by button mashing. It took skill and patience to get through it. Took me over 14 hours to complete my thumb literally hurt when I got through it, but it was well worth it. I'm going to attempt Chaos mode soon. Should be brutal.

I was really glad I chose Titan first time too, there was times when I doubted I could do it and the constant "would you like to switch to easy" really helps to deflate you even further but with perseverance you always find a way. I love that feeling of impossibility, dieing over and over again, turning the game off and calling it a night only to come back 10 minutes later and complete the task first go. How people get off on constant unhindered progression is beyond me.

i can not believe the scale of this game... the scale of this game just sh## on all games this gen... i can beleive how kratos just bully these Gods/Titans into submission... lol God3 FTW!!!

Nearly no game competes with GoW3 in scale and action.
