Resolution Magazine writes: "By the time I'd explored for 15 hours, I was both ready for more and yet absolutely, entirely ready - nay, keen - to be done with it. In many ways, it's the flawed masterpiece that Eternal Sonata threatened to be, but maybe even more flawed than that game was. It comes across as lacking conviction in what it does best, its writing, feeling the need to impose a lot of mundane experience on the player through dull combat and long, tedious passages to negotiate. This is artificial and cheap - and other games have proven that you can make a world feel desolate and barren without forcing the player to walk every step and negotiate every ledge."
