Yakuza 4 scores 37/40 in Famitsu

SCRAWL: "The latest Famitsu is out and Yakuza 4 has racked in an impressive review score. The weekly Japanese magazine has given the fourth numbered iteration of the action game a thirty-seven out of forty. Review scores were broken down into a 9, 10, 10, and 8. That's pretty damn good, if you ask me."

Great score, but if anyone can translate, why did the guy who gave it an 8 give it that? 10, 10, 9, 8... the 8 sticks out to me, why didn't he like it as much as the others?

Also, I think Scrawl has a typo there. It says "Also reviewed by Famitsu, God of War Collection received a 32/40 and Darksiders a 32/40." but from what I can see it looks like God of War Collection got 8 8 8 9, which is 33/40, not 32/40. Unless I'm looking at the wrong game...

Yakuza 4 got a 38/40 not 37/40 as well going by the scan.

The Great Melon5220d ago

Noticed that also. Good, that 8 was just a typo.

Edge is still anti-Sony trash...

Yakuza is just awesome like that.

Now to get enough money to buy Yak 3

For those of you who haven't yet tried it, the Yakuza 4 demo is actually on the Japan Playstation store. Sadly, it doesn't seem to include English subs, but regardless, it is truly epic. The demo is massive, with plenty to do through it. I was quite surprised playing it, as there was a pretty huge cut-scene, the ability to play the ping-pong mini-game, go into the Sega Club arcade, plenty of fights to be found, and much more just in the demo. And I'd have to say that from Yakuza 3 to 4, the graphical aspect of the game is drastically enhanced, making the city and characters look much nicer and more impressive on the eye. Definitely a day one buy, and I'm grabbing Yakuza 3 later today for sure.

Yakuza 3 sold outstandingly when it was released and the PS3 was still expensive! Yakuza 4 will just simply outsell its predecessor, period! just the matter of how much!

... what's not to like? :)

SaiyanFury5220d ago

My preordered copy of Yakuza 3 is coming in today. I can't wait for it. Come on SEGA, get off your collective asses and bring over Kenzan! and announce Yakuza 4 as well in the west!

Yakuza 3 was 100x better than GTA IV

GrandTheftZamboni5220d ago

I only played Yakuza 3 demo, but I agree with you despite the universal acclaim for GTA IV. Don't want to trash GTA IV, it had a great story, atmosphere but I just couldn't play it past 12-13 hours.

''Yakuza 3 was 100x better than GTA IV''

I need to play Yakuza 3 or 4 then.

Crap, I was talking about Yakuza 3. I suppose day 1 for part 4 IF it comes to the States.

badz1495220d ago

although their marketing strategy is stupid IMO (out of 12 months in 2010, they chose March!) but if Yakuza 3 sold OK in the west, then we might get 4 if not, so just say goodbye to 4! honestly Yakuza is not catered for westerners at all! it's so Japanese centric I find it hard for most people to get into the game! I've live in Japan for 4 years but can't hardly get into any JRPG, let alone Yakuza games. but more games the merrier for the PS3! I'm happy for those who'll enjoy the game!

coolfool5220d ago

In the west we have western developers making western style games. And now, we have have Japanese developers making western style games *cough* square enix *cough*. The Japanese element to this game will make it truly unique and different to western audiences. For me, it will be a complete selling point rather than put me off.

I don't know how people couldn't smile and laugh at some of the brilliant Japanese quirks in Yakuza 3.

I hope Sega releases the fourth installment here! If they do, I will pre-order it today.

The Great Melon5220d ago (Edited 5220d ago )

Is Yakuza 4 not in the picture? Because the only game that I see a 4 in the title has reviews of 9,10,10,9 which would give a score of 38/40.
