"What, not how" is a refrain you hear over and over again when talking with the developers from Pandemic Studios. The Los Angeles-based studio is knee-deep in producing Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, an open world action game with a lofty goal: Give the players mercenary missions to accomplish, let them loose in a huge, open fictional Venezuela, and have them get the job done.
With a tongue-in-cheek approach to its politically charged setting, Mercenaries 2 has more than a great look to go along with its open-ended gameplay. The promised drop-in online cooperative mode for two players should also put an entirely new spin on the tactics used during missions.
Bad ports don't necessarily mean bad games, but they're inexcusable nonetheless. There are oh, so many sequels in video games these days. We've got eight games that we wish would get a follow up.
I cant agree with a lot of games on this list. Far, far more deserving entries - which I wont go into now. All I will say is Blast Corps U...I can dream, cant I?
The Darkness games are among my favorite games of last gen. Both were very unique in their own ways. I'd love to see a third iteration though I doubt it'll happen.
Folklore 2 would be nice as well.
Well apart from Jak and Daxter the rest are total crap and I for 1 are glad there was no more of that crap, now if you want to talk about Heavenly sword and Medievil now thats 2 that should have another go at this gen
All publicity is good, right? Well, not always. Here's a look at a few of the best (and worst) publicity stunts for games.
over GTA. Undoubtedly will be a hit. But I believe this franchise is not getting the kudos it deserves.
I'm still playing Mercenaries on my old xbox. Can't get over what a great game it truly is. Just love stealing a chopper or tank - reluctantly ordering in one if need be - for contracts.
Honestly, it's as good as Halo 2 for gameplay and graphics....especially when in a high hover in the chopper and being shot at by RPGs and tanks. Simply awesome for old gen tech.
Now, could Mercenaries 2 be as good as Halo 3?
We're all in for a treat.
I'm not sure how fun this is supposed to be (never played the original), but good Lord, those jaggies are almost painful to look at...
I know what your saying man, I'm still playing the first one on my PS2 as well, Still haven't beat it there is just so many people to kill and things to blow up that I lose track of the missions.
Thats kool though, it gives me an excuse to hold out on this game a little while longer. So many games So little Money
Comparing this to Halo 3 doesn't really make sense... that's like comparing Forza to Burnout... they both have cars, but they aren't the same type of game. Halo 3 is going to be linear. Mercanaries (and GTA) is not.
Comparing this to GTA IV makes sense... I loved the original Mercanaries, and all of the GTA games, but to claim that one will be superior right now when we've only seen screen caps and a couple video clips is myopic at best.
I'm 99% sure that I'll be purchasing both M2 & GTAIV.
But I agree this is somthing I would want more than GTA4, I just hope it has a good online.
