Red Steel 2 is gold

LiveWii writes : "Ubisoft has just confirmed that Red Steel 2 is now gold and will be in time at retailers across the world. First reviews are expected in a couple of weeks."

I'll wait on the reviews. First Red Steel was fun, but nothing special. The fact that RS2 is lacking multiplayer makes me worry a little.

Definitely would have been a welcome addition. But at the same time, my favorite singleplayer game this gen (Prime 3) didn't have Multiplayer and in my opinion was better for it. Some games aren't meant to be experienced in groups and instead focus on the immersion on an individual player. I never played RS1, but I am greatly anticipating 2.

I think multiplayer would've been quite a challenge with this game. It's taken them all of this time to nail their graphical style and get a playable Motion Plus scheme integrated. And from the gameplay clips I've seen, the sword slashing can be done pretty quick.

Lag is a problem for any online shooter. Now tack on a new primary gameplay mechanic on top of shooting, too. I'd certainly LIKE multiplayer, but I'd rather Ubi nail the single player than try to be a jack of all trades and master of none (like RS1).

[Btw, miss your old avatar, Arius! I couldn't help putting this one up after watching the opening cinematic.]

Gr815321d ago

Yeah you're right. Sunsets and all are so..sissy right? But I know how much you're anticipating Other M and you never had an avatar so I figured I'd relinquish mine for yours. Plus I like to switch things up every now and again.

I will be switching it again it seems as while I like this new one..it doesn't feel like "me"

EvilTwin5321d ago

Nah, nothin' wrong with the sunset. But I kinda feel rude for takin' Samus, lol.

I had a couple of other candidates:

Nice ones. Nah don't feel bad at all its a great Avy. I hope the GDC has some gameplay vids of Other M I'm getting excited over this one. So many games, so little money lol.

EvilTwin5321d ago

Ah, now I've got it.

...now that I've totally derailed this thread, I better find a way to bring it back, lol.

I think the reason I'm so stoked for RS2 is because Ubi worked a little bit with Retro on it (see folks, there IS a Metroid connection). You can tell with the structure of the game -- the doors to hide loading, the smooth controls and framerate...there's even an elevator part of the game I saw in a vid that looks like it could've been pulled straight from the original Prime.

the amount of comments in this news post probably is a good indication of the sales figures for this game.

Resident Evil 4
Ratchet & Clank 2
Silent Hill 2
Street fighter 2
Castlevania: Symphony of the night
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Assassins Creed 2
Metal Gear Solid (not first game in the series)
Tekken 3
God of War (2018)
Mortal Kombat 9
Devil May Cry 3
Virtua Fighter 4

Luigis Mansion 3 doesn’t really belong in that list because the first game was great and it’s sequels didn’t really redefine the series.

Onimusha 2
but hey, we can make 1k improved sequel if we keep going on 😂
