GamingUnion.net: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Review

GamingUnion.net: "Despite the improvements that have been made to this iteration of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., it still doesn't really do much to make it a hugely compelling experience. There is a lovely sense of atmosphere and exploration, but it's slightly marred by dated presentation, which really hampers the story - something that's already on the weak side. There is a multplayer component and there are numerous endings to enjoy though, so it's a game that could soak up some time if people are willing to slog through the boring initial story to get to the good stuff."

This game rocks. And I love the whole "dated" presentation remark. Only on the PC does a game with these visuals get called "dated".

Jesus Christ only the very first game STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl had all the bugs and crashes. It ran perfectly smooth after the first patch.

Stalker Clear Sky no problems
Stalker Call Of Pripyat installs and runs smooth without a patch. I wish people would quit it with the crashing crap. The developers have done a good job of making this game.

I swear I'm tired of these lame websites and their lame reviews. Every review of STALKER Call of Pripyat is the same. These ass clowns didn't play the game they just reworded some other sites review. They all say old graphics engine. Funny though the X ray engine is newer than the ancient Unreal Engine that every flippen game seems to use now a days. The X ray engine is one of the better engines out. Textures lighting and atmosphere are top notch.

Only thing is your PC better have balls. Unlike these reviewers who use off the shelf Dells running 1280 X 720 at barely 30 fps no AA I can run STALKER MAXXED out w/ 8x AA and 16 AF and really enjoy the beauty of this game. This game has awesome graphics and lighting. Fire off your gun at night and watch the real time reflections.

STALKER is a great series and game and I suggest all three. It's the best rpg/fps that is out. There isn't another game that will make you scared to venture out at night like Stalker does. Plenty of exploration, weapons and armor upgrades, side quest that have a purpose. The side quest lead you to clues that open up the main quest and guide you in the direction of how you want to complete the game.

The NPC AI in this game is like playing with real people. They run and hide from emissions. They hunt for artifacts. they will loot dead bodies and use new weapons.

great game and series

Just because an engine is new, it doesn't make it good.

Having to have a super computer to make the game actually look half-decent isn't really a positive statement.

I heard the blue screen of death is a popular enemy!

ShawnCollier5563d ago

I wonder if the OSX Pinwheel is there as well? xd

mephman5563d ago

The game certainly has some legs.

All the STALKER games are absolutely awesome if you can get passed the bugs.

I am currently playing this game on my laptop and it isn't as good as the desktop (PSU shat it self, so out of action for a week).

All 3 games have been pretty good but you just can't get the full experience on low settings. It is really one of those games that if you can't go max settings don't drop the cash for it. Settings like grass density lighting distance etc, need to be up at max for the game to play the way it should i.e. remaining hidden when in bushes and seeing people across the map due to no grass on the other valley.

I've played bout 15-20 hours so far, been in all 3 locations and have not yet encountered a single bug. compared to Clear Sky it a major improvement. Not to mention that the side quests are much better and relevant to the story while making the game fell more "complete"

at least an 8/10 IMO.

But heck only $20 on steam... Bargain... reckon!

Call of Pripyat is quite polished. There are very few bugs.

Alot better than Clear Sky (but which isn't as bad as everyone says), I can't believe they complain about bugs and the graphics. This is the most bug-free STALKER game yet, and the graphics look really damn good maxed out (which obviously they can't if they think it looks bad). The lighting is some of the best in any game.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games
