I so hope the PSP2 does not come out this year. Because I see a lot of cool new games coming out for the PSP this year. I can hold out a little longer for the PSP2. Plus I am in no hurry for a DS2. I just updated my DS to the DSI. So I do not want to have to now go out and buy a DS2. So I hope this is not true and that the DS2 and PSP2 do not come out this year. I am fine waiting until 2012.

I do think though that both Nintendo and Sony could lower the prices on there systems. So more people will want to get a new system.

A PSP2 would also reflect the GO which was not even announced that long ago.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new DS now though.

Many PSP users upgraded to the GO while DSi wasn't that big of an upgrade. Upgrading again to a PSP2 wouldn't be too convenient.

I would love to see an additional analog stick on the PSP2. Wonder if Sony will make it a phone too...

Even though I can wait a little longer for the PSP 2, I would love to know what the graphics will look like. I don't think they will increase the resolution too much, so most of the graphical improvement will come from a more powerful cpu and graphics unit filling up the existing pixels with more polygons.

The PSP Go was released the same year it was announced because the PSP is already an established platform. But I agree, I don't want to see any new platforms this year.

Sony needs to figure out how it can support both the PS3 and PSP at the same time. At the moment it seems they can only do one at a time and that isn't working out well for the PSP's game line up. This year looks pretty good but it really only has Peace Walker as a big title.

I would go out and buy the DS2. It will be amazing, just don't charge more than 150$ for it!!hehe. I can't wait for a PSP2. I have had a PSP 1000 since launch and each redesign they release is missing THE DAMN SECOND ANALOG STICK THAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN ASKING FOR. Game controls have been gimped for FPS on the PSP and it is a huge problem.

The DS hardware and software sales are way too strong to be debuting a new device this year. The PSP GO was just announced at the last E3 but I could see Sony debuting a whole new product, that or making some major price cuts.

I did too on launch. I kinda want the PSP2 though just because It could really push huge boundaries with portable gaming. I mean I love my PSPgo. I use it for Moives Music and games everyday.

I wouldn't mind for the PSP2 to get released though. Even though I know the PSP has a bunch of great games coming out this year. For example Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, and Valkyria Chronicles 2.

It's just that I bet the PSP2 would help get more western developers on board. because honestly a great majority of the PSP games are Japanese, which isn't a problem it's just that. I would like a bit more variety.

I used to use my PSP for EVERYTHING. Then I got an iPod Touch and it does everything so much better than the PSP (web browser ESPECIALLY). Now my PSP is for gaming ONLY. Movies, Music, web browsing, and everything else is much better on the ipod but games on the ipod SUCK compared to the PSP. Graphics, game play, library of titles and PHYSICAL buttons make all the difference.

Anyone who originally played SF2 in the arcades or on the SNES probably pronounces it as rye-you. No one knew any different and most people still pronounce it rye-you because we have been ever since we were kids.

That PSP is just fan art or concept art, it has been floating around the internet for a while now. Although I agree, it looks better than the PSP GO design. I would love for the PSP2 to resemble this, Dual analog PSP FTW. Take that Nintendo DS!

I've been holding out until costco got them in stock (double warranty and excellent no questions return policy) but they've been taking their sweet time getting them. If Shane says it then I'll definitely be holding down fort until E3 to see what they say.

Then again even if they ANNOUNCE it this year chances are they're still another year or two away.

Things I'd like to see for PSP2?
-All digital version ala Go straight from the getgo with expandable memory (SDHC)
-Touch screen
-Dual analog
-Cheaper Games (I just don't like the current pricing structure, 20-30 dollars is my maximum for handheld games)
-3G option (So when I'm bored with my current selection I can peruse the store whenever/wherever)
-PSN integration including trophies

3G is a subscription service provided by the phone companies right? I pay 30 dollars a month for 3G on my iphone so unless they make the psp2 a phone 3G will never happen. But making the psp2 a phone would totally put Sony over the map all they have to do is add a sliding keyboard on the map or make the screen touch.

Yes I know that. I also know the iPad can have 3G built in if you want to subscribe to it. It could be in a 'premiere' model. I'd like to imagine a Go-like model with this capability. Sure I'd have to pay a subscription for the service but depending on apps/features it may very well be worth it. Not like it hasn't been done before. Definitely a feasible option.

ever heard of the Amazon Kindle? The Kindle has 3G service, and it is built into the price. 3G doesn't mean the PSP2 or DS2 has to be a cell phone. Nintendo has previously voiced interest in the idea, so I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. I also suspect that we will see a 3G-enabled iPod touch this year.

The next Pokemon games are supposedly being made for the next Nintendo handheld right now, and all I really want on the PSP2 is internal memory (LOTS OF IT,) Better graphics and a second analog stick.

It could be used for gaming like the DS but also to make things like the web browser work a little more smooth like pinch zooming and the ability to use the PSP while it is closed and the buttons are hidden.

I skipped buying a pro duo card and bought a pro duo adapter off Amazon for $5. It takes micro sd cards so I got a couple 8GB micro sd cards for it for $11 a piece. $27 for 16GB of memory can't be beat

was a trojan horse to work out the bugs in digital distribution and convince developers that their games were safe on a SONY product. While that is still in the air I also think the form factor was a test too.

Expect same form factor...dual analog, camera, gps, touch etc in the PSP2 with a faster processor (SGX543) that kicks Tegra 2 in the nut sack.

Perhaps PSPGo is a test but PSP go sales has been absolute disastrous everywhere. In Japan even PS2 and 360 sells much more than PSPGo. It is pretty much dead there (normal PSP sell 50k a week there, PSPGo barely 1k a week).

So, if PSPGo was a test then it proves DD doesn't sell games. I'm absolutely sure that PSP2 is still going to have physical media. If it doesn't then DS2 is going to destroy PSP2 in sales.

i hope to see both ds 2 and psp 2 at e3 this year because i will be purchasing both of them day one. i'm morely looking forward to the psp 2 because it will be jammed pack with features and high technology because sony is all about having the best technology in their products. my wish for the psp 2 is for it to have at least a 5 inch hd screen, 3g internet capability to play online from anywhere , 1080p video output, two analog sticks , L2 R2 buttons, touch screen, batteries able to last 5 hours or more while gaming continuously, rumble feature . only thing i wish for nintendo ds 2 is that its specs would be close to the psp 2s but i dont think it will be. the psp 2 will be a force to be reckoned with where nintendo is concerned because the psp 2 will be very powerful while being able to do the same as the ds 2 and more. if the psp 2 is released with all of my wishes coming true (along with a £220 price tag and ps3 graphics) then it will sell more successfully than the psp. gamers on all platforms and casual gamers will flock to the psp 2 because it will be a very versatile hand held console.

The 360 is aging quickly.....no way it can continue as MS's main console past 2011. It is dated now! Aging DVD format, no standard hardrive, PS3 exclusives blowing the 360 games out of the water on a visual level, and PS3 is also closing the sales gap. Also, MS (and sony) will not sit around with their thumbs up their ass and watch nintendo launch a new console...delaying a launch will have you playing catch up. No way.

Id love to see a new PSP and DS. I think its rather unlikely for several reasons though. First of all we have heard that the PSP 4000 is coming this year, why would they do that if they had a PSP2 coming?

Next is the go, sure its been a failure but whens that ever stopped sony before?

For the PSP i think its more likely we see the 4k come and a relaunch of the GO with a lower price and more memory.

As for the DS they are just coming out with the new XL version so we can be fairly certain that they wont put out a new DS. Of course this is nintendo though and we did hear the rumor about the new Dev kits.

Personally i think we will see no PSP but we will see a new DS. The new PSP will be next year i feel fairly certain. That is unless we see the go take off, which is unlikely at this time.

if this has PS3 like graphics,why not have the system share identical development with actual PS3 games,that way dev's won't have to spend making a game for an extra system and gamers can play the same game at home and on the go. obviously a blu-ray disc won't be available on PSP2 but if it accepted a sd type of card,then a full blu-ray game could be placed on that to use instead. I doubt it will have near ps3 gfx.

The strongest mobile devices to come out this year will have around 1ghz clockspeed, and 512 MB memory.
And those are really expensive (about 600 dollars).

That means the psp will probably be considerably stronger then the ps2, but also considerably weaker then current gen consoles.
Mobile devices with the strength of current gen consoles are not possible yet.

And theres always the price that has to be considedered as well.
If you ask me, the next handhelds will be as strong as the xbox1.

I am just about ready to put my PSP 1000 and DS up for sale on eBay. I haven't touched either of them for almost 6 months. I'm doing all my mobile gaming on the iTouch.

I keep thinking something will come out that will demand that I play it on the PSP or DS, but there's really been nothing that compels me.

I'm having too much fun playing Plants vs. Zombies, MiniSquadron, Space Miner, etc. anyway.

If the iTouch comes down under $150, you can bet it will start to eat into the DS marketshare. As a parent, I can buy my kid a $150 device that allows them to play touch-based games that cost under $5 vs. buying a $130 DS whose games cost $30 or more.

The only thing keeping DS relevant to the kiddies is Pokemon.

The PSP sucks as a handheld, If you play it like a handheld u will run out of battery even though u rarely get anything out of it because u cant see sht in daylight unless u put it on a charger. And the pace games came out for the PSP was so slow I regret buying the PSP, the DS on the otherhand did great. The only thing wrong with the DS was the graphics which isnt an issue at all as long as the game is good, I didnt buy a DS because I was busy with Exams and forgot about gaming all together.

What the DS2/PSP2 needs to get bought by me..
-Great Battery Life
-Portability(Size)
-Multimedia support(MP3, PDF,etc)
-2GB built in memory
-Great screen(Bright enough to see in daylight)
-Great software support

I wouldnt mind if the DS2 came out with PSP graphics as long as it has the points above.
