Mangod: PSP 2 and DS 2 Will Debut at E3 2010

Hawtwired:

"Mangod, aka Shane Bettenhausen of Ignition Entertainment and previously of EGM, hypothesized on this week's 4 Guys 1UP podcast that Sony and Nintendo's portable follow ups will be shown at this year's E3:

"I think the big story of E3 is DS 2 and PSP 2. I'm really excited to see that," he further commented that the "DS and PSP both existed in completely different sides [...] if those two put out similar products at the same time, it really evens the playing field.""

I so hope the PSP2 does not come out this year. Because I see a lot of cool new games coming out for the PSP this year. I can hold out a little longer for the PSP2. Plus I am in no hurry for a DS2. I just updated my DS to the DSI. So I do not want to have to now go out and buy a DS2. So I hope this is not true and that the DS2 and PSP2 do not come out this year. I am fine waiting until 2012.

I do think though that both Nintendo and Sony could lower the prices on there systems. So more people will want to get a new system.

qface645597d ago (Edited 5597d ago )

im right there with you i honestly DO NOT WANT a new (insert name here)
i was thinking of upgrading to a dsi since my lite is half broken if i do im scared ds2 will be revealed after i buy a dsi
my money is tight these days man

Mista T5597d ago (Edited 5597d ago )

if PSP2 comes out it'll be the first handheld I've ever bought

heard the graphics could be borderline ps3 like

-Alpha5597d ago (Edited 5597d ago )

A PSP2 would also reflect the GO which was not even announced that long ago.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new DS now though.

Many PSP users upgraded to the GO while DSi wasn't that big of an upgrade. Upgrading again to a PSP2 wouldn't be too convenient.

I would love to see an additional analog stick on the PSP2. Wonder if Sony will make it a phone too...

The Great Melon5597d ago (Edited 5597d ago )

Even though I can wait a little longer for the PSP 2, I would love to know what the graphics will look like. I don't think they will increase the resolution too much, so most of the graphical improvement will come from a more powerful cpu and graphics unit filling up the existing pixels with more polygons.

captain-obvious5597d ago

what about a handheld Xbox ??
i think we'll see something about that this E3

RememberThe3575597d ago

The PSP Go was released the same year it was announced because the PSP is already an established platform. But I agree, I don't want to see any new platforms this year.

Sony needs to figure out how it can support both the PS3 and PSP at the same time. At the moment it seems they can only do one at a time and that isn't working out well for the PSP's game line up. This year looks pretty good but it really only has Peace Walker as a big title.

N4BmpS5597d ago (Edited 5597d ago )

Hmm Idk about the PSP2 being released this year but an announcement would be insane, I want them to put a camera or something on it and if it looks something like that picture or how it looks in this/last month's PSM3, it should be cool.
But the only thing I see coming for the DS is the XL? I think that's what it's called and the DS with the larger screen.

SilentNegotiator5597d ago

Think what wonders a second control stick, some piracy control, and a touch screen (Perhaps) could do for third party support.

And I wouldn't mind more power and precision.

ThanatosDMC5597d ago

I hope PSP2 has two analogues!

I also hope the PSP2 isnt hackable so that more publishers would want to put games on it.

PLAYSTATIONGENRATION5597d ago

Psp needs to see the end of its life...piracy has killed the psp

f7897905597d ago

Was already planning to but this is one more reason to. I need money and I'm sure used PSP prices will tank once the PSP2 is unveiled.

Plan to get a PSP2 on day one and leave it unopened until it is hacked. I want a full speed N64 emulator this time WITH SOUND!

ReservoirDog3165597d ago

True, I wouldn't want new systems because then I'd be obligated to buy them. Too much money at this point in time.

Hopefully later or something.

TengkuAmir105597d ago

I would go out and buy the DS2. It will be amazing, just don't charge more than 150$ for it!!hehe. PSP2? i might not buy it because the games on PSP isnt amazing enuf for me, yes, the graphic's is more awesome than the Ds but gameplay-wise, it is no more fun for me. Anyway, my PSP's have all had analog problems. Like analog actually going loose. I hate it when that happens.

I have both and from my perspective, Ds is better. I actually have two from each of them. Hehehe.

D4RkNIKON5597d ago

I can't wait for a PSP2. I have had a PSP 1000 since launch and each redesign they release is missing THE DAMN SECOND ANALOG STICK THAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN ASKING FOR. Game controls have been gimped for FPS on the PSP and it is a huge problem.

Noctis Aftermath5597d ago

E3 i think is too soon, my money is on TGS, but if it's revealed at E3 that's fine with me, i can't wait to see what both companies will bring to the table with the much more powerful systems.

Karum5597d ago

I highly doubt we'll be seeing a hand held xbox console in the immediate or near future. everything MS are doing atm is focused on Natal and will be for the forseeable future.

I would however be interested in seeing what they would do with a hand held.

hatchimatchi5597d ago

me too, i bought a psp go not too long ago and I don't feel like upgrading to a new psp. Plus I have an entire back catalog of games i'm waiting to hit the psn store.

hurry up sony...

zeeshan5596d ago

I hope it's you know what is that word? Hmm... affordable this time! PSPGO's price was insane considering it had no UMD drive and other features were lacking. If Sony plays it right, they can make buttload of money with PSP2.

Old Greg5596d ago

I think we will here alot about the future of the two handhelds, and maybe get some details about the hardware---but we wont see a full fledged debut, atleast not for the DS2.

The DS hardware and software sales are way too strong to be debuting a new device this year. The PSP GO was just announced at the last E3 but I could see Sony debuting a whole new product, that or making some major price cuts.

multipayer5596d ago (Edited 5596d ago )

I want it to come out now, even if I can't afford it. I'd like a dual analog portable with a decent shooter readily available. Actually, I would be fine with the DS control scheme getting reworked. I'll probably be more interested in DS2 if they can boast it to equal/exceeding wii graphics... lol

Sharpshell5596d ago

I would have agreed with you that I can wait for a PSP-2 but for some reason buying lbp-psp (which is the game I wish had always been out for the PSP, really)on top of getting a Droid I'm stating to actually feel for the first time liek the PSP is older technology.

I hope to god there are two analog sticks if this is true, but for some reason I think it isn't

I did too on launch. I kinda want the PSP2 though just because It could really push huge boundaries with portable gaming. I mean I love my PSPgo. I use it for Moives Music and games everyday.

I wouldn't mind for the PSP2 to get released though. Even though I know the PSP has a bunch of great games coming out this year. For example Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, and Valkyria Chronicles 2.

It's just that I bet the PSP2 would help get more western developers on board. because honestly a great majority of the PSP games are Japanese, which isn't a problem it's just that. I would like a bit more variety.

D4RkNIKON5597d ago

I used to use my PSP for EVERYTHING. Then I got an iPod Touch and it does everything so much better than the PSP (web browser ESPECIALLY). Now my PSP is for gaming ONLY. Movies, Music, web browsing, and everything else is much better on the ipod but games on the ipod SUCK compared to the PSP. Graphics, game play, library of titles and PHYSICAL buttons make all the difference.

KidMakeshift5597d ago

Who actually calls that guy "Mangod?"

He was an arrogant a$$hole when he was with EGM

XxRoosterxX5597d ago

He knows a ALOT about games, that's why he's a god among us nerds.

If you doubt this, listen to Retronauts.

KidMakeshift5597d ago (Edited 5597d ago )

He thinks he knows everything and acts like a snob about it

Hell, he doesn't even know how to pronounce "Ryu" from Street Fighter right. It's pronounced "Rue." For a guy who acts like he knows the ends and outs of Capcom and Square soft/enix you would think he would know the correct pronunciation for one of their most renowned characters.

N4BmpS5597d ago

That guy isn't a God to me, just a guy who knows a lot.

XxRoosterxX5597d ago

you're using the pronunciation of a fighting character as some sort of intellectual compass? lol.

I guess you're as dumb as your avatar suggests.

KidMakeshift5597d ago

Hey just because my Wal-Mart greeter isn't interested in you or your Heffer avatar doesn't make him dumb.

Yeah, I know he's hot but you can't always get what you want... for free

hatchimatchi5597d ago

i assume he pronounces it, rye-you and not ree you.

Anyone who originally played SF2 in the arcades or on the SNES probably pronounces it as rye-you. No one knew any different and most people still pronounce it rye-you because we have been ever since we were kids.

off topic,

i used to have blanka pajamas. I wish I still had em, it'd be so cool to let my future son wear them, ha.

SIX5597d ago

It's pronounced Dee-Yu and it means dragon. The R is there but it's almost silent. Just saying.

Can't wait to see how both would look physically and what they have to offer.

JussBlazn5597d ago

that psp2 looks SICK! two joysticks + dpad + 4 face buttons. oh, and the screen looks nice too.

D4RkNIKON5597d ago

That PSP is just fan art or concept art, it has been floating around the internet for a while now. Although I agree, it looks better than the PSP GO design. I would love for the PSP2 to resemble this, Dual analog PSP FTW. Take that Nintendo DS!
