Assassin's Creed 2 PC with maxed out graphics

PCGH shows some Assassin's Creed 2 PC lovin' with resolutions up to 2.560 x 1.600 with super sampling anti-aliasing. The scimitar powered engine seems to make a good job.

It looks flat and lifeless. Dead eye syndrome characters. Why isnt it chock full of DX11 shaders and massive texture maps. Really we have have moved on with Pc beyond what this game is offering visually at least. See the PC version of metro 2033 if you want a demonstration people...

Hmm so not even maxed out graphics can help AC2 have decent looking human faces.

I assume this is why the main characters have a hood over the face so we don't have to stare at what looks like a robotic wax figure talking.

Having to see Ezio uncloaked for the first few hours was bad enough.

You say that, but assassins creed was a DX10.1 game, and stuff like hawx supports post DX9 API. So its not like ubisoft havent before and couldnt implement features for modern Pc hardware, they did it two years ago on the original. They then patched said game, to turn it back into essentially a DX9/10 title probably due to nvidia.

even if the devs say it uses DX9 engine, I saw many DX9 game that looked a lot more sharper and more detailed than AC2
and when you think they had a DX10.1 engine in the 1st AC ...

Those faces look 100x better than what's on the 360 or PS3 versions. Shoot, can't remember how many times I thought Ezio's sister had down syndrome or something because of how messed up her face looked on my PS3.

It doesn't look bad, it's just not a graphical powerhouse like Crysis 2 or even BC2 for the PC. It does look better than most games coming out this month for the PC, though.

My question is why someone bought this game with the horrible DRM they're using, even for doing screenshot comparisons. Heck, I wouldn't install the game even if I was given it free, that would be supporting it, even a little bit.

Looks better than the first, but probably not as good as it could have if Ubisoft were to use DX10.

yea but the ps3 version is screen tearing hell. so id avoid that. PC version looks great btw

what you are thinking of my friend, is Assassin's Creed 1. They fixed the screen tearing in the second one(my #1 complaint about the first game)

i do have ps3. i love it but the game is just screen tearing. i still love it though, didnt stop me from buying all the DLC. i bought the DLC as soon as it came out and the one tht was suppposed to be 7 dollars was 10. and i still got it.

Until you can give something like that or A LOT better... and cheap, don't bother releasing your consoles. I'm looking at you wii, I expect lots from you next gen.

Also M$, I know this is asking a lot from you guys, but can you make the hardware less crappy next time? I don't want to have to replace my consoles more than 2-3 times a year.

I know you like to cool stuff like cell, but can you not? The cell is great and all but I'll never be able to emulate your games on my PC, at least in my lifetime. Also, wait until you can make your console cheaper, but not too long again. I don't want to have to pay much over $499 again.

$499 is a good price point, Cheaper than you average gaming PC and still a good starter price point.

and something I want to see from everyone... NO MORE THAN ONE SKU MODEL.

I don't want to have to choose from 5 different PS3 models.

really want more dx11 games this has be delayed for so long they could of made it dx11. i came in to a lot money today and really considering getting a 5970 i got 5750 at the momment and never had problem with it runs crysis at 42fps on 1080p i would probley need a new case and new power supply but might wait to nivida show there newn dx11 cards

After the GTA4 and Bioshock2 fiasco because "games for windows Live" I will pass on thinking to buy another PC game.

Stupid Miscrosoft sells their games GfWL every where in the world but only around TEN countries have support for this thing.

I bought Bioshock2 from Steam bc it was selling on my COUNTRY and it does not work the damn game cuz I can't log on GfWl !!

Assassin's Creed 2 on the PC seems that will be worst then other commong games for windows since you will also require you to be loged online to a Ubisoft server to be able to play this single player game.

Thank GOD that Bioware/EA does not use gfwl so it is a sweet experience playing Mass Effect2 and DAO on my high end PC.

About Bioshock2 I will not lose more time trying to make it work and since I can';t get a reinbursement I will get a crack to make possible to at least play the SP campaign.

So let's see it's 6 months after the console version, more expensive than the console version, has horrendous DRM and NOW it doesn't even look all that good. I think it is time Ubisoft came out and told us what they are smoking, because I want to try it.

You can;t create an offline profile if you can't first creat an online profile. If the solution of this problem was that simple I would not see 2,000+ ppl around the world posting /begging for solutions every where how in hell to make a GfWL game to work.

Erm yes you can, you can create an offline profile without ever having logged into GFWL. I hate the service as much as the next guy but you can create an offline profile with no problems.

It's simple, really. They saw IW bringing a piss-poor MW2 port to the PC without little to no extra effort while making a lot of profit off it. So, they're trying to do the same with this game.

Wanna know what the saddest part about this is? When the PC sales fail to meet their expectations, they'll be crying "Piracy". Yeah sure, Ubi. Blame piracy for all your failures. Most devs do anyway.

The word 'Piracy' is now like a safety net for their PR, when they make a crappy port for the PC that people refuse to buy.

Wow, the game does NOT look impressive. The character models r awful, although the details in the background r satisfactory. I am not imprssed Ubisoft, i though u would take advantage of the PC's power but all i see is a cheap port from the consoles.

And 60 dollars for the game? Wtf, theyre doing the same thing mw2 did. I hate this new trend of charging pc games like the console games.

The console versions look the same. Just need to adjust the settings on your TV if you want them to look like this. The only reason I would consider this is if it has constant 60fps. Yes I play PC games on max, but still say multi platform game look the same and only Crysis looks better(At least until Crysis 2 on consoles).
