Rare Says No Plans For Killer Instinct 3

A new Rare scribe was posted yesterday, and the company pretty much brought the hammer down on the rumor mongers. Rare revealed that they are not working on a new Jet Force Gemini or Mr. Pants game, but more importantly, Rare put the kaibosh on the Killer Instinct 3 rumor mill. Sorry KI fans, the denial sounds genuine.

RARE's only decent game imo was KAMEO.

Golden Eye was one of the best N64 games I played when I was a kid. I had many fun hours with it and people today still say that it was one of the best games Rare made.

C:bad fur day' was better on the n64 and totally screwed up on the xbox1.
although KI3 wouldnt be a " port" i still think the classic feel will be lost, Snes version was way better then n64.

For all we could know, they could surpise everyone and actually show KI3 at E3. Bungie did this with Halo 3, talking about secret project in their Weekly Updates and they kept on saying they weren't working on Halo 3.

MS and Rare for all we could know, could be showing off Viva Pintia 2, Kameo 2 and maybe KI3.

Let’s face it, without the guidance of Nintendo rare is starting to suck. The only Xbox game that rare has released that I got really hooked on was believe it or not viva piñata. It was a good game (I am secure enough to play a game that cute) but still not up to the greatness that rare has created in the old days.

I do agree that Rare is shooting some blanks out there I don't believe it's because of no Nintendo guidance. I think it's just a matter of no Nintendo platform. I mean the 360 does not have the same image of Nintendo and Rare (that's why they bought Rare). I think it's also a matter of we haven't seen Rare do the standard delay the game. I don't think MS is giving Rare the time they need to make the awesome product we know and love from them.

I hate to say it but I think Rare sux since M$ bought them. Or maybe it was then, maybe it was when the main talent left and form Free Radical. Thats probably truer than my first statement. After Perfect Dark 64 their body of work has been disappointing to say the least. Hey I like Viva Pinata too but if that their best effort in nearly a decade its not really good enough.

yea because all the good devs went to free radical. Didn't even know rare was behing K.I. Total ps3 fan but K.I. is one of those games that will keep me from selling my 360 once the ps3 games role in. Buying games for too consoles in financially draining.

So, y'know.. that was hardly "bringing the hammer down", and not really a definitive denial at all. The Scribes that came out a month befroe Banjo was announced called somebody a "prat" for betting there was a new Banjo on the way. Scribes = not a good source, as it's just Rare messing about.

I've always sayd that the only reason Í'd buy a 360 is that Rare produce a Killer Instinct for the console. Now they screw it. I will go for the PS3,
This proves that a Killer Instinct game would be a console seller, just like other exclusive games (GTA, FF, Zelda).

nintendo made a smart move by selling them off.they have contributed nothing to gaming recently.and they take too long to make a game.they think getting "paid to be late" will last forever.

I don't think that MS needs to sell off Rare, they need Rare to help make the game libray that much wider, for all we could know, KI3 is being worked on and maybe they will show it at E3. There is always that little hope, hell they might even put KI one and KI2 on the XBLA if they wanted.
