Anything less than 5 million in the first week will be a let down and I expect more from all you 360 owners. I know you didn't buy your 360 for Final Fantasy =)

HighDefinition3798d ago (Edited 3798d ago )

CODMW2 made everyone paranoid.

NOOBKILLA3797d ago (Edited 3797d ago )

I'm anxious and excited to see if the Halo: Reach beta is going to look like the newly released screenshots or if Bungie is pulling a SquareEnix??

GreenRingOfLife3797d ago

Bungie continues to outdo their-selves. Can't wait for the Beta, got my ODST right here ready to go

Blaze9293797d ago

Who cares, we all know it'll 'play' awesome either way.

ShabzS3797d ago (Edited 3797d ago )

haha... i dont think even square enix believes it pulled a square enix... they didnt even put any effort into deceiving people... total amateurs

NOOBKILLA3797d ago

Well since I’m not a Halo fanboy I care. I don't like dishonesty in order to get my money. All I said is I’m anxious to see. Get over it!

Old Greg3797d ago

I'd like to think that atleast 90% of the people who have ODST, will jump into the beta.
The other 10%? Well, thats just to be fair.

darthv723797d ago

Is that in a single match?

Whoa...MAG watch out.

/s

I want more players per match this time around. At least 32 but will settle for 16.

QuantumWake3797d ago (Edited 3797d ago )

I would love for Halo: Reach to support maybe up to 24-32 players. I would also accept 18 players. But if MLG makes a return, I would only settle for 5v5 or 4v4, nothing more.

Can't wait to play the beta! :D

I can't wait for the beta. Knowing Bungie, it is going to be awesome.

didn't make me paranoid. just reaffirmed my belief that pieces of entertainment that do best are usually the biggest pieces of crap. Yeah it sold a lot..because it appeals to a certain type of "gamer." and that type of gamer is, unfortunately, the most common kind. the kinda that believes himself (or herself) to be a 'hardcore gamer' but really all they are is a chump that needs a game that allows you to get kills with one or two bullets and lets you memorize the best camp spots. that's why COD is so popular. it appeals to the people who suck at gaming so much that they are willing to exist entirely in mediocrity. you get the jump on someone, you get the kill. they get the jump on you, they get the kill. there's no room for skill, it's all memorization, luck, and a little cowardice.

and this is reflected in every aspect of entertainment. it's not the best musicians that sell the most albums. it's the dumbed down garbage music from the pop artists. it's easy to understand. it's always about love or money, it's always a 3 chord progression, and so on.

same for movies. look at the biggest block busters...spiderman 3??? that movie is so bad that even the rifftrax (rifftrax.com/rifftrax/search? term=spiderman+3&nocache=1 (alright maybe it can, Mike Nelson is the man)) can't save it. same goes for twilight.

as gaming grows more and more mainstream it will continue to do exactly what activision wants. lose the creativity. lose the progress. all in favor of being safe, re-releasing the same product with a new name or number at the end.

For me, Halo really seems to be one of the few exceptions to the rule. yes it does appeal to a vast range of players, and yes it is very accessible to everyone. but, there is also a clear division between the avg halo player and the upper echelon. I'm glad Halo does so well and that it has a giant community. I, myself, haven't played Halo 3 at all in about a year, but i am as excited about reach as any. Halo on console is the FPS version of Starcraft. Even if you don't like shooters very much, Halo is still one you'll probably buy. even if you don't like RTS, you probably still love Starcraft. There are a few games out there that work so well that they have no choice but to sell a billion copies, Halo and SC are two of em (Gran Turismo and Half Life are other great examples) -- COD is not. COD is the twilight of gaming.

Sorry for the rant. Just growing tired of these comparisons being drawn (usually by the younger generation). It's scary enough to think that some day all gaming could be reduced to what the radio, tv, and movie screen have been reduced to, bothers me when the few developers that really push the envelope get compared to the companies that never make any attempt to do anything original.

How can there be 3 million beta testers when ODST sold around that amount? I don't think it will be that many. I say 1 to 1.5 million.

ape0073797d ago

I'll be one of them :)

MerkinMax3797d ago (Edited 3797d ago )

Halo 3 was damn near perfect in the online department, the beta definately was good for that game. 3 million people will give Bungie so much feedback it's unbelievable. Can't wait till May 3rd! Oh yeah, just replayed all the Halo games this week and I'm on ODST right now. Play them in order people, you'll appreciate the story so much more.

OFF TOPIC; It's funny because when I watched Avatar I saw alot of similarities to the Halo franchise and thought it was cool. I hadn't play Halo CE in 5 years and while I was playing I noticed all the references to Alien so I guess it all comes full circle haha.

TengkuAmir103797d ago

Halo Reach will probably be just another dull and boring sci-fi action FPS game which will end up selling 10 million copies although it sucks. There you go, now i feel more 'free'. If you know what i mean.

BTW, Halo Reach's visuals are absolutely stunning! It looks exactly like my brown $hit, idk why...:) I $hitted at the airport toilet just now and when i look down, i saw Halo Reach's BOXART. Funny stuff.

Shepherd 2143797d ago

i hope that Halo Reach will feature SPECIAL GAMETYPES that have more than just 16 players, but Halo has always been a squad vs squad game, not a battalion vs battalion game. Not every game has to have like 64 players in every match to be good. Why dont people realize this?

yippiechicken3797d ago

Hilarious!! I'll bet us "chumps" have a lot more fun playing video games than people like you.

Lighten up a bit, there's a reason they're called games!

Does it really bother you that much that people are buying what they like, even if it's not what you like?

Sub4Dis3797d ago

it bothers me that people compare that sub par re-release like it's something special when it's the same game they've been churning out for 4 years now. if you like it, great. i have lots of friends who love COD. but to say it compares to the greats is just silly. would you really lump twilight in the same category as god father, or casablanca, etc...?

that's basically what's being said when people act like COD is anything but a generic shooter. as i said, it's designed completely to appeal to the masses. the whole point is make everyone that plays it believe they are good enough that they too can be a 'hardcore gamer' because it lets you run and jump around like an arcade game, but then you can just spray your bullets everywhere and if just one hits a target, they're dead. it's not realistic, and it's not arcade. it's a shooter with an identity crisis and it makes for a very one dimensional experience.

great if you like it, i realize many ppl do. that doesn't make it a good game.

yippiechicken3797d ago

"great if you like it, i realize many ppl do. that doesn't make it a good game."

If 100 people like something and you don't, could it be you that has a skewed sense of good or not good?

I'd think that someone like you, a self proclaimed "hardcore gamer", would appreciate games that MANY other people can enjoy and have fun with. You make it sound like you're upset because the game wasn't made for someone like you, but you think it should have been.

Cheers. :)

i have a little under 3 months to get another sub and an hdtv, lol...no way im experiencing this on my current sdtv ahaha

SIDE NOTE
btw, what do you guys think is the perfect size for an hdtv in your room (not for the family, just yourself and gaming) id go to a local bestbuy or futureshop to check it out, but too lazy...i was thinking 32"

EDIT
how on earth did i get a disagree for not wanting to play the beta on my sdtv and asking which is the best size...what can you even disagree with? n4g users, you really do amaze me :S

@below - yea, i thought 32" would be a fairly reasonable size for a single persons room, they practically use that size on display in most sports bars that i go to

@HiDef - i think thats more for a living room, lol...but yea, bigger the better, BUT i just want one for my room, lol

Optical_Matrix3798d ago

26" to 32" my friend. Also may have steal my brothers 360 to play this beta. I can't be bothered to buy a 360 until I know Halo Reach and Fable III deliver

green3797d ago

Depends on the size of your room but you can't go wrong with 32.Thats what i got in my room.

HighDefinition3797d ago

46" is where gaming starts to get alot better (IMO) and it start making quite a noticable difference (on most TVs).

Munky3797d ago (Edited 3797d ago )

Like the viewing distance, size of wall, the amount of light in the room, and of course your budget.

In the end, it's all a matter of preference. Their are no strict rules to what size you have to get compared, yes their are guidelines, but it's what you feel comfortable with.

dukegodtezza3796d ago

What has got to do with the beta? ODST sold just over 4M, so you can't be referring to that

Dance3798d ago

No doubt the beta will be huge

Otheros003798d ago

If it's the final one they better make it their best halo like Kojima did with Metal Gear Solid 4.

SixZeroFour3797d ago

isnt there another metal gear coming out? so mgs4 wasnt kojimas last one, so the comparison doesnt really make a lot of sense...still hope it is their best one yet

Smkt3797d ago

yeah but the same can be said about Bungie.. i mean sure right now they are saying that its the last one.. but after they get the sweet cash from the millions of units sold in the first week maybe they'll come around and make another one..

TooTall193797d ago

From what I understood Kojima said MGS4 would be the last Metal gear in the solid series. Meaning there will be no MGS5 (made by Kojima at least). They are starting a new series with rising, and I'm not sure how the Peace Walker game falls into the franchise.

SixZeroFour3797d ago

i see...well in that case, i guess it does make sense
