Halo: Reach will likely be Bungie's final installment in the Halo series, and the developer has high expectations for the shooter.
Anything less than 5 million in the first week will be a let down and I expect more from all you 360 owners. I know you didn't buy your 360 for Final Fantasy =)
CODMW2 made everyone paranoid.
I'm anxious and excited to see if the Halo: Reach beta is going to look like the newly released screenshots or if Bungie is pulling a SquareEnix??
Bungie continues to outdo their-selves. Can't wait for the Beta, got my ODST right here ready to go
Who cares, we all know it'll 'play' awesome either way.
haha... i dont think even square enix believes it pulled a square enix... they didnt even put any effort into deceiving people... total amateurs
Well since I’m not a Halo fanboy I care. I don't like dishonesty in order to get my money. All I said is I’m anxious to see. Get over it!
I'd like to think that atleast 90% of the people who have ODST, will jump into the beta. The other 10%? Well, thats just to be fair.
Is that in a single match? Whoa...MAG watch out. /s I want more players per match this time around. At least 32 but will settle for 16.
I would love for Halo: Reach to support maybe up to 24-32 players. I would also accept 18 players. But if MLG makes a return, I would only settle for 5v5 or 4v4, nothing more. Can't wait to play the beta! :D
I can't wait for the beta. Knowing Bungie, it is going to be awesome.
didn't make me paranoid. just reaffirmed my belief that pieces of entertainment that do best are usually the biggest pieces of crap. Yeah it sold a lot..because it appeals to a certain type of "gamer." and that type of gamer is, unfortunately, the most common kind. the kinda that believes himself (or herself) to be a 'hardcore gamer' but really all they are is a chump that needs a game that allows you to get kills with one or two bullets and lets you memorize the best camp spots. that's why COD is so popular. it appeals to the people who suck at gaming so much that they are willing to exist entirely in mediocrity. you get the jump on someone, you get the kill. they get the jump on you, they get the kill. there's no room for skill, it's all memorization, luck, and a little cowardice. and this is reflected in every aspect of entertainment. it's not the best musicians that sell the most albums. it's the dumbed down garbage music from the pop artists. it's easy to understand. it's always about love or money, it's always a 3 chord progression, and so on. same for movies. look at the biggest block busters...spiderman 3??? that movie is so bad that even the rifftrax (rifftrax.com/rifftrax/search? term=spiderman+3&nocache=1 (alright maybe it can, Mike Nelson is the man)) can't save it. same goes for twilight. as gaming grows more and more mainstream it will continue to do exactly what activision wants. lose the creativity. lose the progress. all in favor of being safe, re-releasing the same product with a new name or number at the end. For me, Halo really seems to be one of the few exceptions to the rule. yes it does appeal to a vast range of players, and yes it is very accessible to everyone. but, there is also a clear division between the avg halo player and the upper echelon. I'm glad Halo does so well and that it has a giant community. I, myself, haven't played Halo 3 at all in about a year, but i am as excited about reach as any. Halo on console is the FPS version of Starcraft. Even if you don't like shooters very much, Halo is still one you'll probably buy. even if you don't like RTS, you probably still love Starcraft. There are a few games out there that work so well that they have no choice but to sell a billion copies, Halo and SC are two of em (Gran Turismo and Half Life are other great examples) -- COD is not. COD is the twilight of gaming. Sorry for the rant. Just growing tired of these comparisons being drawn (usually by the younger generation). It's scary enough to think that some day all gaming could be reduced to what the radio, tv, and movie screen have been reduced to, bothers me when the few developers that really push the envelope get compared to the companies that never make any attempt to do anything original.
How can there be 3 million beta testers when ODST sold around that amount? I don't think it will be that many. I say 1 to 1.5 million.
I'll be one of them :)
Halo 3 was damn near perfect in the online department, the beta definately was good for that game. 3 million people will give Bungie so much feedback it's unbelievable. Can't wait till May 3rd! Oh yeah, just replayed all the Halo games this week and I'm on ODST right now. Play them in order people, you'll appreciate the story so much more. OFF TOPIC; It's funny because when I watched Avatar I saw alot of similarities to the Halo franchise and thought it was cool. I hadn't play Halo CE in 5 years and while I was playing I noticed all the references to Alien so I guess it all comes full circle haha.
Halo Reach will probably be just another dull and boring sci-fi action FPS game which will end up selling 10 million copies although it sucks. There you go, now i feel more 'free'. If you know what i mean. BTW, Halo Reach's visuals are absolutely stunning! It looks exactly like my brown $hit, idk why...:) I $hitted at the airport toilet just now and when i look down, i saw Halo Reach's BOXART. Funny stuff.
i hope that Halo Reach will feature SPECIAL GAMETYPES that have more than just 16 players, but Halo has always been a squad vs squad game, not a battalion vs battalion game. Not every game has to have like 64 players in every match to be good. Why dont people realize this?
"Yeah it sold a lot..because it appeals to a certain type of "gamer." and that type of gamer is, unfortunately, the most common kind. the kinda that believes himself (or herself) to be a 'hardcore gamer' but really all they are is a chump that needs a game that allows you to get kills with one or two bullets and lets you memorize the best camp spots. that's why COD is so popular. it appeals to the people who suck at gaming so much that they are willing to exist entirely in mediocrity. you get the jump on someone, you get the kill. they get the jump on you, they get the kill. there's no room for skill, it's all memorization, luck, and a little cowardice" Hilarious!! I'll bet us "chumps" have a lot more fun playing video games than people like you. Lighten up a bit, there's a reason they're called games! Does it really bother you that much that people are buying what they like, even if it's not what you like?
it bothers me that people compare that sub par re-release like it's something special when it's the same game they've been churning out for 4 years now. if you like it, great. i have lots of friends who love COD. but to say it compares to the greats is just silly. would you really lump twilight in the same category as god father, or casablanca, etc...? that's basically what's being said when people act like COD is anything but a generic shooter. as i said, it's designed completely to appeal to the masses. the whole point is make everyone that plays it believe they are good enough that they too can be a 'hardcore gamer' because it lets you run and jump around like an arcade game, but then you can just spray your bullets everywhere and if just one hits a target, they're dead. it's not realistic, and it's not arcade. it's a shooter with an identity crisis and it makes for a very one dimensional experience. great if you like it, i realize many ppl do. that doesn't make it a good game.
"great if you like it, i realize many ppl do. that doesn't make it a good game." If 100 people like something and you don't, could it be you that has a skewed sense of good or not good? I'd think that someone like you, a self proclaimed "hardcore gamer", would appreciate games that MANY other people can enjoy and have fun with. You make it sound like you're upset because the game wasn't made for someone like you, but you think it should have been. Cheers. :)
i have a little under 3 months to get another sub and an hdtv, lol...no way im experiencing this on my current sdtv ahaha SIDE NOTE btw, what do you guys think is the perfect size for an hdtv in your room (not for the family, just yourself and gaming) id go to a local bestbuy or futureshop to check it out, but too lazy...i was thinking 32" EDIT how on earth did i get a disagree for not wanting to play the beta on my sdtv and asking which is the best size...what can you even disagree with? n4g users, you really do amaze me :S @below - yea, i thought 32" would be a fairly reasonable size for a single persons room, they practically use that size on display in most sports bars that i go to @HiDef - i think thats more for a living room, lol...but yea, bigger the better, BUT i just want one for my room, lol
26" to 32" my friend. Also may have steal my brothers 360 to play this beta. I can't be bothered to buy a 360 until I know Halo Reach and Fable III deliver
Depends on the size of your room but you can't go wrong with 32.Thats what i got in my room.
46" is where gaming starts to get alot better (IMO) and it start making quite a noticable difference (on most TVs).
Like the viewing distance, size of wall, the amount of light in the room, and of course your budget. In the end, it's all a matter of preference. Their are no strict rules to what size you have to get compared, yes their are guidelines, but it's what you feel comfortable with.
movie room 100 inch 5.1 and a lock on the door to stop wife and kids from comin in ever 5 minutes to ask me what time im gettin off the xbox
What has got to do with the beta? ODST sold just over 4M, so you can't be referring to that
No doubt the beta will be huge
If it's the final one they better make it their best halo like Kojima did with Metal Gear Solid 4.
isnt there another metal gear coming out? so mgs4 wasnt kojimas last one, so the comparison doesnt really make a lot of sense...still hope it is their best one yet
yeah but the same can be said about Bungie.. i mean sure right now they are saying that its the last one.. but after they get the sweet cash from the millions of units sold in the first week maybe they'll come around and make another one..
From what I understood Kojima said MGS4 would be the last Metal gear in the solid series. Meaning there will be no MGS5 (made by Kojima at least). They are starting a new series with rising, and I'm not sure how the Peace Walker game falls into the franchise.
i see...well in that case, i guess it does make sense
everyone with a halo odst and xbl
lol a beta that out does everything on the ps3 exclusive list. thats pathetic droids. graphics doesnt = substance graphics doesnt = longevity graphics doesnt = sales 3 things games on xbox has substance, longevity, sales. thats why all them ps3 multiplayer games look like fallout 3.just you and a few mutants in the massive baron wasteland that is PSN! if you dont hear low quality mics rumbling, you hear nothing at all. jump in,play with the masses. sony will look at the sales of halo reach and think...that was us 10 years ago..then our userbase got old and whinny..then stopped buyin games..they just were not ready for online multiplayer.we are noobs!sure they love our blu-rays and how the hardware looks in their setup.but they just wont play games. and the apprentice became the master.
Sales =/= Substance Sales =/= Longetivity Sales =/= Quality Just because XBL has millions of users more than PSN doesn't mean the 360 is the better console. Each console has its strengths. PS3 has the graphical prowess that's why all you bots keep saying graphics doesn't mean it's gonna sell well. All you guys think about is that it sells well so you can play with 5 million other people and you already think it's like a godly game or whatever. ZOMG Reach sells 5 million day 1 GotY!!! Well guess what? PSN users don't need 5 million people just to play KZ2 or MAG online. PSN users don't need another 1 million underaged noobs to play with
you cudnt be more wrong. its like goin to a party and when you arrive your the only one there.not much fun is it.its like some1 told you this party would be awesome, the party of the decade..the party to end all parties.our somebody told you about this new club..this club has the best music and gives you free booze.but you get there, and there is no hot chicks.not even ugly chicks.its empty.not much fun is it. if you havent grasped wot im sayin ill explain.KZ2 looks good in principle.but it plays like ass and no1 is there.UC2..its hot..its stunning..but no one is home.and after 15 hours of play.your done!finito! everyone has left the party. sure haloz isnt the best game ever made.def not the prettiest.or the longest.its not one of my favs.but DAMN is it fun to play.and damn its still being played today.substance, longevity, and sales(people play it)not £££!and dont spout that dung about kids playin it.a gamer is a gamer no matter how old. tell me ONE ps3 exclusive game that can boast that!! just 1! thats the difference..SHAAAAAZAMMM.
I'm ashamed of fellow 360 owners like you. Why did you need to make that comment, please give me a good reason.
I never liked Halo. I bought Halo1 and 3 but I didn't even finish sp mode and probably 30 mins online altogether. I promised myself that I am not getting into Halo again but Reach is taking different direction. I am thinking to give it a try again :)
My friend managed to get a copy of ODST from Craigslist for 5 bucks.
I will end your suffering dear friends! I will push the KILL button and you will all die and burn in hell which is a much better option than not buying a PS3. :)
hope Microsoft loses Rare, and that Rare at least goes 3rd party, if not Nintendo 1st party.
dont be stupid
i kinnda feel sorry for Nintendo people.. i mean they had some good stuff on the N46 and Gamecube but they are totally getting shafted this gen... i mean apart from mario, zelda and metroid they don't have squat... they get the sh!tty ports of the multiplats if any at all.. wii even lost NMHeroes and probably NmH2 will end up on the Hd-twins too.. its ironic that wii is whooping 360/ps3 in sales.. but that's probably because its thought of as a toy for kids rather than a gaming console...
The only thing any nintendo console has is mario, zelda, and metroid. Don't get my wrong, they are fun games. But nintendo literally does the same thing. i see nintendo becoming just a developer eventually....although not anytime soon as they are making out with the wii.
Too bad I traded in my ODST a few months back. I guess I'm going to have to wait until the fall for Reach.
People will buy establish franchise (MGS, Halo, GT, GTA, MARIO, FF, GoW, DMC,NG) so developers will keep making them, and why not, these are among the best games anyways. Just imagine if one day these games are gone, and only new IPs games present, i'll bet many gamers will feel lost, angry, skeptical and the entire gaming industry could be in jeopardy seriously. It is unsual for new IPs to do as well as Gears or Uncharted.
ODST sold over 4 million WW and i would imagine a spike in sales near the Reach beta
I didn't buy ODST so I probably won't be in the beta :( maybe I should get it now that it's cheap o.o
Yea I can see that. The name "Halo" is Microsoft's Mario. It probably get to that number. As a ps3 fan I don't doubt that at all.
Agreed, game quality aside, msft have done well to create a brand name that will sell, regardless of quality (not saying there is no quality, as it's not out yet) it was like the MW effect this time round, sold like 20bobillion, on the name of cod4 alone
I read somewhere, now this may be wrong, that you still need the ODST disc and everybody i know has traded that in lol since the game failed in oh so many ways..
but odst sales will increase when the reach beta comes out... i'm thinking it'll easily add around 1.5~2 mil to the total copies sold..
