The Nintendo Wii may be doing well in terms of hardware sales but that doesn't always guarantee success to the exclusive games available on the system, especially when it comes to third-party titles.

I need to take a better look at these in the future :)

MisterNiwa5553d ago

Muramasa is an AAA Title for sure.
From its unique artistic style, its fast paced gameplay and well written story.

Once you started playing you are totally absorbed by it.

Reibooi5553d ago

There was talk before it's release that perhaps they would port Muramasa to the PS3 or Xbox 360 and I think that the game really needs to have that done.

The visuals in the game are stunningly beautiful and having then in HD would only make them look that much better. As well as the fact that the game may sell a bit more on the other consoles.

Seekerofthewind5553d ago

Marvelous flat-out said 'no' to Muramasa being ported. Just sayin'.

The Great Melon5553d ago

@Seekerofthewind

Yeah I remember that. Its unfortunate that they weren't considering it as HD consoles can bring so much to 2D games. Hopefully someone out there realizes the potential that the the 360 and the ps3 possess to produce stunning visuals without 3D.

Why is it that all "good wii game lists" look like this?

5.Unknown game
4.Unknown Game
3.Unknown Game
2.Unknown game
1.Smash Bros Brawl.

Just goes to show how poorly the games are advertised on the wii when you are first hearing about them from N4g. At least with ps3 and 360 the lesser known games are still...known. Advertise your games nintendo. Games are more important to sell then consoles.

Trevorthenerd5553d ago

only one of those games on that list is published by nintendo. its up to the publisher to advertise the game properly...

qface645553d ago (Edited 5553d ago )

LOL for so many reasons

Tony P5553d ago

Because most gamers are can't see beyond the big name, big budget games.

If it's not backed by Capcom or Nintendo or SE or Bungie or whoever, *whoosh*. Right over their heads and under the radar.

Redempteur5553d ago

unknow ??

unknow to you maybe some people just doesn't look

ChickeyCantor5552d ago

"Advertise your games nintendo. Games are more important to sell then consoles."

Its not like Sony or MS are promoting their library, its the gaming community that hypes sh/t up for these companies.

This gaming community also talks sh/tloads of smack about the Wii and just focuses on the PETZZZZ, and carnival games. Its no wonder many games are unknown to them. They just go by pure ignorance.

Shnazzyone5552d ago (Edited 5552d ago )

Yeah, i'm pretty sure we would see alot more of these games selling if only they were advertised even a 1/4 as well as dante's Inferno... the trick is make a good tv commercial and then put it on tv when people are watching tv.

Muramasa is a game everyone should play, I had more "wow" moments with its visuals then any game I played on the PC or consoles. This game proves that art triumphs all, even technical shortcomings.
And the gameplay is stellar too, im loving this 2D renaissance happening in gaming!

Midgard2285553d ago

i have a wii just for that game, never got it cuz its to expensive for my horrid budget after basically losing my job *sigh.

luved odin sphere, if u didnt play that yet play it, its on ps2, same creators

ceiltsei5553d ago

I guess I was lucky. When I first got a Wii (this last Christmas), one of the reasons why I purchased it was to research the unique game development. Every game on this list was recommended to me, along with Boom Blox, Metroid Trilogy, Chocobo Dungeon, de Blob, and various first party games. So.. I found each one of these games in bargain bins, quite sad. They are excellent games.

Big difference in advertising - Microsoft has pride in releasing good games and hypes them up even more than some of their first party releases. Watching Nintendo these past two decades seem to really only care about themselves. I guess my prediction was somewhat right in the mid 90s - One day Nintendo will release a system that will only sell their own games.

New super mario bros wii > muramasa

SeriousHashBrown5553d ago

dont know why you feel you need to compare the two... both games are very different from each other. plus, no matter which is better over the other, they're both very much worth owning/playing

ChickeyCantor5552d ago

They aren't that different.
Obviously NSMBWii has a real japanese artstyle to it, Mario uses a katana like all the time. I like it more than starpower so far.
O and Mario is better handdrawn.

You sound like you’re just a ton of fun to be around.

franwex14d ago

It’s been sitting in my backlog for a while now. One of the first games I wanted to try for this current gen due to the long load times of previous gen. I’ll get around to it soon!

Zenzuu14d ago

One of the best, stylish, and fun action slasher on the system. You definitely should get to it, as soon as you can.

solideagle13d ago

they are taking way too much time with DMC6...

VersusDMC13d ago

The DMC5 team went on to make Dragons Dogma 2, the DMC director (3,4,5) left capcom to make an action game at another studio and the rumor is that a DMC remake is next...so i wouldn't hold my breath on DMC6.

ZeekQuattro13d ago

Everytime its on sale I think about buying it but never do. I only played the orginal and somr of 3 so I guess that's part of it.

A chance conversation with a retro game store owner forever changed my views on emulation

Nick Fernandez writes, "After decades of questionable practices around emulation, a chance conversation with a retro game store owner changed my views forever."

This is a great article and it's what many in the retro community feel.

I still play on original hardware if I have nostalgia for those systems I have my nes, mega drive, PS1, n64, PS2 connected through a retrotink 2x to a OLED Bravia and I'm happy with the image. Sometimes it's not even the games but the sound of a PS1 laser firing that makes the experience the changing cart or disc it's cathartic

If I don't have nostalgia for the system like SNES, Saturn, Dreamcast I'll emulate and maybe use a Bluetooth knock off controller or NSO controller to feel sort of genuine like the SNES NSO gamepad is awesome.

I also use ever drives for the cart based systems I own a few classics I love like super Mario Bros games, sonics etc but retro gaming is expensive so everdrive gives me that full library like emulation but I have the right gamepad in my hand because some systems just don't feel right unless you have the right controller mainly the N64.

But I'm under no illusion I'll have my retro systems forever all the console will inevitably die and that where emulation becomes vital. Its great for preservation and it helps make these old games accessible to younger generations who may wonder where their favourite franchises started and expose them to new things like games from the 8 and 16 bit era which still hold up really well.

anast16d ago

I enjoy articles like this. It's actual game journalism. I would love to read more about the context of the store and the owner one day.

Games_People_Play16d ago

I started out completely against downloading emulators and roms. I considered it stealing.
However, recently, with companies like Ubisoft and others, telling me I don’t own my digital only game, and even the physical games that I do own are incomplete on physical media, some with nothing more than an executable file, on disc so that I have to download the entire game anyway. I have since changed my opinion on the subject. If game publishers don’t care about me, trying to do the right thing, then I’m not going to care about them. The industry brought this upon themselves.

DivineHand12516d ago

At this time, emulation is the number one way to ensure game preservation. Even Sony and Nintendo is using this method officially to make older games playable on their consoles.

If my emulation were to go away then there is a chance the retro gaming market is likely fall into an even smaller niche since the newer generation of gamers will not even know those games existed.
