Rumours are LittleBigPlanet will get a "full sequel" despite denials from Media Molecule.
Please with Crash Bandicoot like switching 2.5D camera angles. That would be epic.
I would also love for them to focus more on battle mechanics, abilities, more enemies which can be program to behave as you see fit, and finally allowing sackboy to equip and use items. That way, people can make metroidvania levels in LBP's universe. Or a side-scrolling RPG/brawler. I would also love to see some levels in Mario Style, where a change in costume can give your Sackboy different abilities. Hell, this would probably be the best incentive for people to go buy LBP's DLC costumes. I know, I would.
LBP was in fact one of the best games this gen thus far. I played that game for well over a hundred hours and would love to see a full sequel.
Surprising news. I dunno what to make of this. I hope it doesn't splinter the community too badly. The one thing I do hope for is vastly more thermometer room
I really liked LBP, but I felt that the game was seriously hurt by the floaty controls. Trying to time jumps and landings got pretty frustrating during the later levels, and it would be a shame to see the poor controls return in the second game. Edit: While people are free to disagree with me, the "floaty controls" issue is a common complaint about the game and many people will be happy if they get tightened up.
Are there any PS3-exclusive games that you actually like or have positive things to say about?
As long as it's developed by MM I'm in (or whatever new MM game).
Yes, Harry Manback, there are quite a few. Are you asking that as a serious question, or just to imply that I am a troll?
Don't let Kitty fool you folks. He's one of the biggest Xbox fanboy trolls here. He doesn't even own a PS3 - FACT
lol I've never seen him say anything positive about the PS3. Whateverz, I loved LBP. A sequel would be FTW!
It would probably help if you could name these PS3 games you like. Even mentioning one with a few details would be nice.
It's a serious question and I'm not implying anything. You're comments (from what I've seen) speak for themselves.
Many people on N4G are so defensive that they cry "fanboy" when anyone says something even remotely negative about their beloved console's games (in this case, the PS3). I am on record as saying that I prefer the Xbox 360 over the PS3 (because of its controller and Live, mostly) but I am also on record as saying that I like many of the PS3's games, but that goes unnoticed. I own a PS3 but don't worship it. That is a rare breed here on N4G, and it means that anything I say (good or bad) will be written off as trolling. This thread is a perfect example of what I am talking about. I said that I really liked LBP but like many others, wished that the controls were not so floaty. On N4G, THAT qualifies as trolling. lol It's cool, though. In the grand scheme of things, none of this means a whole lot, anyway. Let's not forget that we are arguing over video games. lol
I agree 100%. If you aren't completely and blindy supportive of 1 console here you are labeled as a troll. I also agree on the controls. My kids and I absolutely love playing this game. At least one night a week, we all sit down and play this game, downloading new levels to check out and trying to make some of our own. The controls could be better, period. Still an amazing game though.
Thanks, Terry Tate. I'm all for poking fun at a console that's not your favorite, but the absolute nastiness that is often on display around here is like a cancer. I continue to be amazed at how emotional people get when discussing video games, but I have a feeling that it is only going to get worse from here on out.
or maybe he is just a really bitter-negative person that can't look the good side in things... lol Anyway I think I must ignore that kind of person.
What's the point of wasting comment bubbles about negative reaction to "PS3 fanboys" when most if not all of your comments about PS3 games have been negative? You don't like LBP. You find GOW3 disappointing. You can't even name a PS3 game you actually like. You own a PS3 but its rather obvious from your stance towards its games you've only wasted your money. Accept that fact, accept that at the very least people are going to question if not insult you about your opinion and stop acting like the butthurt fanboy you accuse others of being.
How old are you? (serious question)
i kind of liked the floaty controls =) it made added to the unique experience, however they were annoying sometimes, but once you mastered them they were no biggie what i did NOT like from the game which i'd like changed is...nah can't think of anything =)
I didn't mind them at first, but after a while (later levels and some user created levels) I found myself wishing for tighter controls. It certainly didn't ruin the experience for me, though.
Bubbles: If you don't like LBP, you're a moron. Most things like this are a matter of opinion but LBP is so undeniably awesome and brilliant that this has crossed over from opinion to FACT. :) MM created a wonderful software toy/game/community/play system all rolled into one. It's an Epic milestone in gaming, IMHO. Anyone who can't see its importance is either deluded or hasn't spent enough time digging into it. That said, I thought they might just keep extending it indefinitely given its flexibility, community, and open-ended design. So, I'm kind of disappointed and excited at the same time by a rumor like this.
If that was addressed towards me; probably too old to be playing games. Certainly too old to be posting comments here much less making what few actual fanboy ones I've actually made. I don't as a general rule like FPS but am interested in the Halo and ME universes. Like JRPGs but hate the current loli rut the genera is currently stuck in. I also think that JP devs are wholly out of their depth trying to make JRPGs for the 360 and PS3 hence all of the PS2 level titles we're getting - w/f***ing lolis! Not that this response answers my general line of questioning about your inability to say anything good about a PS3 title. Only attack others on the basis that they're fanboys.
nah forget guys, peace
Awesome, LBP FTW!!!
Brilliant news! Can't wait!
the support for lbp has been good and the nature of the game has ment there been plenty of content, but would be interesting to see what the could add to a sequeal. they need to be able to add in a load more stuff but still keep things accessible so any1 can play or build levels
It would sorta not be a good idea based on lbp community is growing, and they would have to support the old community as well as a new community i just think Mm should release more dlc , and new add-ons and new features. A whole new lbp II would just end up making them having to release a little big planet 3 it just doesnt sound right. Ps4 whenever that arrives i think lbp II should be made then it would make more sense.
It could be a different kind of lbp i wouldnt mind that.
Media Molecule has no plans for a sequel to Little Big Planet, and even thinks that such a move would contradict their goal for the game. In an interview with Critical Gamer, level designer Danny Leaver said the company would "never want to do that. That'd be the most counterproductive thing you could do I think." Producer Martin Lynagh added, "I think what you've seen so far from Little Big Planet, that's the way it's going to continue."
I think media molecule will release another create.play.share. game that'll probably use the lbp engine. It would be the better thing to do and continue to support making dlc for lbp, just having another game to support too.
Well they got my 65 euro's once, never again!
LOL yeah, you'll just be saving that money and waiting for the next miyamoto title to come along. Because thats what all nintendo fanboys have ever done. Littlebigplanet is probably the only game on consoles where you get as much fun out of it as the effort you put into it. I can only assume you've got the creativity of a gnat, because if you were a creative person, it'd take up most of your gaming time. But then again, im most likely replying to someone who just waits for the next miyamoto game. Every single generation.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL. "I can only assume you've got the creativity of a gnat, because if you were a creative person, it'd take up most of your gaming time." Yeah thats why im going to get my GameDesign/Development degree right? Im sorry I dont like the games you like, sorry I offended you because I dont like LBP while my heart lies with platformers. Im sorry I ever came in to your life on n4g. Im sorry, I really am. The fact i already wasted 65 for this game contradicts your whole trolling statement. Please get bend.
I hope not. First one sucked pretty hard.
Well I own it and think the opposite, I have many friends who also own it and think otherwise, I think the reviews disagree, the meta score or are they all biased? To save you the trouble of answering that question maybe I should answer it for you; no they are not but maybe you are. Do you know what preference is? Maybe you should refrain from attacking games in genre's you don't like, I don't like sports games thus I refrain from sharing my opinion with people who love them on the basis that it's offensive to critisise what other people consider to be great.
do you really expect people to take you serious? you, with your 1 bubble...
LBP always struck me as an 'open ended' game that never needed a sequel, just updates - I build levels all the time and still don't feel restricted by the content. But, I'm sure that if there IS a second game, Media Molecule won't let us down. One thing I do hope they include is a 'paint' tool, as colouring objects with just stickers is fiddly sometimes.
I LOVED 'MM' Game World. Their Levels are DREAMY. Loved the 'Englishness' of some of the Levels. I would buy it DAY 1!!! ;) + LBP(+MGS4)are my 'T-GOTY' of 2008!!! ;) (Two-Games-Of-The-Year) + Hmm...What happened to 'Banjo-Kazooie:Nuts And Bolts'??? The ChavBots said that was better??? ;-D
Almost anything they could do with a squeal they can do with an update. They're even doing updates for motion controls and 3D. We'll probably see a LBP2 with PS4, but my guess is that LPB1 will remain in print throughout the PS3's life.
Another amazing title & GOTY contender? :)
What? A game that not only has yet to be announced, but that its likely maker is saying they aren't making it?
just takes like 10 mins to get used to lol. the only complex thing is the changing tiers thing that new comers dont get otherwise its easy to play. :) a full sequal woul be awesome, ive really been hoping for more powerups, maybe somethin to add to platforming like grappling hooks, maybe have certain grapple points with the item and have to swing and time jumps, i think that wud be awesome., even addiing hook points to items to pull, maybe pull a tree down to make a bridge etc etc. wind would be nice, like a wind generator that wud ofcourse blow things or make a vaccum if reverse functioned. i think theres alot lbp cud have :)
how?...what could they do more? the game is perfect, the game could go on forever with DLC updates since everything is IN there... but they are game dev's =P its their job to innovate! bring it on! LBP easily one of my fav games ever =)
Controllable, differing, gravity effects? Water that can be made into a separate physical object and not just a terrain type, with the same being applied to fire - lava - and gas? Making it so that you can have sealed areas within those environments? Like a multi-deck submarine. Combustible and slowly lethal gas. Again, not that any of those things can't probably be done through an update.
it will be new IP, motion c and 3d is whats coming for lbp but i dont know what "little big universe" will be all i know is it will not fracture the community dont know how but supposedly it wont.
Sackboy wants to flip around and do some double jumps, well maybe not double jumps but the flips would be a nice.
where is my sackeroth! i want my lbp ff7 costumes along with lvls and sword attack power-up!!!!!! sword can cut certain material like sponge and anything soft even wood with enough cuts. would be ccool i think :)

How funny is it that Kitty LITERALLY says "I liked LBP, but the controls were a letdown" and it get's followed by people crying that he doesn't like anything on the PS3 and that he's a moron if he didn't like LBP".... What part of "I liked LBP" didn't you guys understand? On topic: Superb news, I'm playing LBP at the moment and it's big fun. So another one is always welcome.
lbp is awesome and water adds a ton. u see alot of diff lvls, some really classic to platforming with wierd contraptions and some that look totally realistic, i just luv the variation. i my self used to make wacky lvls not caring if it looked realistic or not then switched to "NO IT MUST LOOK REALISTIC!!!!" lol if curious to try it out "Edens Tear" is the name of my lvl, almost everything is realistic, from the swinging, flying animals that take u around, the platforming, the deaths, i even made rain with real water :)
Stop being a troll on here the game control's are fine Ok.
First of all it's my favorite game this gen! And nearing my favorite game of all time.... I want a new IP and or more LBP content! But no matter what I want to see more LBP.By this Fall it will be 2 years since the LBP release.I am hoping to see some major surprise at "perhaps" the next GDC in March as I did 2 years ago. Perhaps as mentioned above LBP "UNIVERSE" is in the works...? I am dying to find out exactly what is up,and have a great feeling we will know within a Month or so....Oh what I would do for another GDC showing.... I could not believe what I was seeing when I saw this creative, stylish quirky masterpiece for the first time,a total surprise, and a jaw dropping feel.I was at that GDC,and still to this day have never been as impressed with a totally off the wall surprise as LBP. A new IP has me chomping at the bit,but only if they continue to back and suport LBP,as I believe they and the commnunity will. A new IP and more LBP content would be "IDEAL"...
if little big planet allows you to port your levels and skins etc to the next game then little big planet 2 will be awesome.
