Mad Catz Third Quarter Benefits From More Diverse Peripherals

Peripheral-maker Mad Catz saw its second-best quarter ever, seeing sales and profits up thanks to what it says is a successful focus realignment and a more diverse product mix.

The company's net sales were up 19 percent to $40.8 million, while profits rose 51 percent year over year to $15.9 million. Mad Catz's fiscal third quarter ended December 2009.

Among the products it shipped during the period were voice communicators for Modern Warfare 2, arcade sticks for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 4, and a wireless Fender Telecaster "Player's Edition" Rock Band guitar for Xbox 360.
