NIMF: Manhunt 2 Delay is Victory

NIMF appears to be quite happy with the news."Take-Two's decision to temporarily suspend distribution of Manhunt 2 is a victory for parents and children," the statement reads. "Because of the their thoughtful decision to give Manhunt 2 its strongest rating, 'Adults Only,' the ESRB has sent a strong message to Take-Two and other game makers that they no longer can push the envelope on gratuitous violence in videogames. The ESRB showed real leadership in assigning this rating and further evidence it is making significant progress in keeping extremely violent and graphic materials out of children's hands."

a victory to those opposed to free speech anyway...

hopefully the re-do this game for the 360:D

bootsielon6151d ago

A victory to parents and children?? First of all, Children were NOT gonna be allowed to play this game in the first play; second, if parents are the ones allowed to buy it, why would they buy it to their children? That's the problem; they want to put the burden of responsibility on the game industry, specifically take-two and rockstar, when it is not their problem. This is a free market, and games are a form of freedom of speech. It's fiction-based entertainment. Anyone supposed to be allowed to play the game should know that; anyone comitting murder after playing it had serious issues to begin with, and would have been triggered otherwise, sooner or later.

Sooner or later censorship will be a thing of the past. Parents can protect their kids from adult rated games by putting in a password so they can't play!!! Every game system has this and yet they ban Manhunt 2!!! The rating system doesn't even make any sense whatsoever it has glop holes!!! Movies of 2007 and beyond are also going to face a new form of censorship too. If a character in a movie smokes it is considered rated R now, which is ridiculous!!!! These Parent base companies don't know what the hell they are doing. The government can take advantage of parents by giving them Microchips called Radio Frequency Identification Chips, which can be implanted in everybody's arm as a tracking device so our government can spy on us 24/7. Parents would fall for such technology to limit their children freedom, because it is true that parents are concern about their children's safety from any dangerous situation. This is the highest form of censorship due to many things this technology could be use for. The R.F.I.D. Chips are due out in May 2008 under the Real I.D. Act. If you don't believe me do your own research on this and see the true nature of our own tyrannical government run by a few dominate men in power behind close doors. This is the truth you probably never heard of before. This government is Big Brother for a New American Century, and a New World Order. Before you bash me think about it and do your own research.

You know usually when someone says "you may have missed" it's games that were lesser known, hidden gems, underrated games. These are all super high profile games that sold extremely well.

FPS_D3TH488d ago (Edited 488d ago )

You know the 2000s is 20 years ago too? Maybe, just maybe this wasn’t an article targeted to 30+ gamers? Still says at the very beginning of the title “THE BEST GAMES you may have missed”. Regardless of how well they sold there’s tons of gamers who haven’t touched these older well known games lol.

Welshy488d ago (Edited 488d ago )

It's games you "may have missed", insinuating you were around and gaming in the 2000's and were there to miss them. If it was aimed at everyone else then they missed literally everything, not just the top games.

The original commenter is right, this is a badly written article at best pointless at worst.

Crows90488d ago

Besides only being able to miss it if you were around during that time..if your point stands then this is a horrible list. Tons of better games people may have missed

XxINFERNUSxX488d ago

I would like the original max payne remade in a new engine with ray tracing. 😊

FPS_D3TH488d ago

Remedy games already working on that and I’m so stoked for it

XxINFERNUSxX488d ago

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me I totally forgot they were doing it. Also what the hell happened to Kingpin: Reloaded? On Steam coming soon and nohting from the dev.

MadLad488d ago

Yeah, I was just going to say. It's interesting seeing them back behind the series. Max Payne 3 was amazing, but then Rockstar just sat on the IP.
Well, they sit on virtually anything that isn't GTA and Red Dead now.

porkChop488d ago

What is this list? These are all hugely popular games. I was expecting games like Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Advent Rising, Arx Fatalis, etc.

FPS_D3TH488d ago

the title didn’t say lesser known titles from the 2000s. This is 20 years ago now lol. Big assumption this list was made for older gamers.

Dirty_Lemons487d ago

That makes me feel so old.

Inverno488d ago

I've only played 3 on that list. Part of me feels bad about how little I used all the consoles I've owned as a kid. One bright side is, there's over 30 years of games to experience for the first time.

Wow is it cheesier than it sounds? It sounds dope on paper.

Rebel_Scum1141d ago

Who was that guy recently who said Rockstar dont want to do just meaningless ports?

Cos something like this would be cool if you combine 3, SA and VC maps. Change characters a la GTAV style. Insert some quests in each game to tie in the connection between the three players and have post endgame content of all three games with more missions/heists.

Just a thought.

roadkillers1141d ago

I would be all for it. Sick of playing a gangster, switch to GTA3 playing as a Mob member or Vercetti.

chiefJohn1171141d ago (Edited 1141d ago )

You had only 1 or 2 gta games where you played a gangster

Profchaos1141d ago

I've played a few mods like this way back when the only two cities were liberty and vice the fact the old 3d games still have active modding communitys shows that there's still a huge pull to these classics I hope rockstar comes through with proper remakes not just that really bad HD San Andreas and mobile anniversary edition of vc and 3

Ranking Every Single Rockstar Game

GI: "Over the past two decades, Rockstar Games has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the games industry. Rising up from quirky Scotland-based developers with a taste for pulp and crime fiction, Rockstar evolved radically, shifting into innovators and provocateurs, creating some of the industry's most influential and blockbuster titles. In the lead up to the eagerly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2, we came together as a staff to rank every single game that Rockstar developed (this means we excluded published titles like L.A. Noire and Smuggler's Run). From the humble top-down beginnings of Grand Theft Auto to the blood-soaked streets of Manhunt and the beautiful jaw-dropping vistas of Red Dead Redemption, you’ll find every single title put in its proper place in terms of influence, importance of innovation, and just plain fun."

Ranking games on best graphics and best game play and best soundtrack is one thing, but I rank them in terms of when they came out and how they made me feel at the time. For me GTAIII is the best GTA game of all time. Because of how I felt while playing it in 2001/2002. It gave me the most fun, wow factor and joy I can remember of all the games. There's nothing like your first.

Sam Fisher2011d ago

Def vice city, and the snuff stuff of manhunt

zahdab2011d ago

I would say the first red dead redemption for me ... that game was so immersive

RizBiz2011d ago

Still the best racing series ever made.

nucky642011d ago

hard to argue that, orion - #3 was awesome. but for me, nothing beats vice city - that map was set up so well and the soundtrack/radio banter was amazing.
for me, VC is tied with RDR1 for best rockstar game - both gave me all the things you describe. of course, RDR2 hits this week and i'm prepared to be gobsmacked once again.

RizBiz2011d ago

The radio banter was amazing. I've never put down my controller to listen to a game for 30 minutes, except for in Vice City.
