10 Reasons Why You Should Own a Nintendo 64

The Nintendo 64, an iconic console in more ways than one, the last of the cartridge based consoles, the N64 not only deserves a place within your set up, but deserves a serious chunk of your gaming time.

Nintendo since the NES had dominated the gaming market, and rightly so. Continuously bringing the goods, and of course Mario and friends to everyone all around the globe. After the NES was the SNES, arguably the greatest Nintendo console ever, which layed the foundations for what was to become the Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 was released in 96 in NTSC territories, and 97 for us in Pal land, the console went on to sell over 35 million units world wide, which is a hell of a lot more than i'd of guessed. I know, you all know the history of the N64, so I'm not going to bore you with it, but in case you've never really considered the N64, here's 10 reasons why you should...

I wish Nintendo would make a console similar to N64 again... the Gamecube was a pretty solid machine I really liked it but the Wii is so bland.

I especially like the wii virtual console as I can now play imports I never would have been able to on the real thing. Sin and Punishment is a sweet game. The sequel can't come soon enough.

N64 was amazing.

I bought it for only three best games ever: Zelda ocarina off time, 007Goldeneye and Mario64.

Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Starfox 64, Turok 2, Blast Corps, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Ocarina of Time.

The N64 really was a great console, even if it was living in the shadow ps1!

You're right though the wii is pretty bland.

the poor thing is utterly mistaken..ps2 better than blls.

RockmanII73178d ago

The Nintendo 64 was Nintendo's last good console

doctorspakles3178d ago

The gamecube was awesome. If only people had chosen it over the PS2...then maybe nintendo would still be on top...oh wait. In all seriousness I feel the GC was leaps and bounds better than the PS2. Just as I feel the PS3 is leaps and bounds better than the Wii. Funny how being an inferior console leads to domination. Hmmm...

I enjoyed Gamecube, DSi, and now Wii. I think you're mistaken.

That's because Sony and Microsoft upped the ante and made next gen graphics, and the wii stayed with what isn't much better than the N64 graphics. so it feels like Nintendo is stuck in a rut graphics wise. But hey their outselling both Sony and Microsoft, so their doing something right.

To be honest, if you look at the graphics of newer Wii games, they do look pretty amazing for being 480p. New Super Mario Bros Wii is one example of a game that actually surprised me graphics-wise. I was sort of blown away.

ATi_Elite3177d ago

they made a cheap and fun console. That's what gaming is all about....FUN

Sony and 360 went towards the gamers looking for a more intense gaming experience.

joshh3178d ago

They're still hitting the family market, and that is where the money is!

Yep - What we consider shovelware is actually a major contributor to almost every successful console
