PS3 Manufacturer Warns Media

PlayStation 3 manufacturer Asustek has fired a warning shot over the bows of the media, following yesterday's leaked reports that the company has already begun shipping PS3 units to Sony.

Via Taiwan's financial hub, the company yesterday issued a sternly worded warning to the media about the reports, stating that it would sue any outlets that had damaged relationships with its clients.

what are they scared of???

andy capps6581d ago

They're scared because this sort of information being released is a violation of whatever NDA they signed with Sony, apparently. Good news for gamers as it appears that the report that was leaked is true, bad news for the company as Sony may penalize them, and worse news for whichever employee leaked the story.

I state that it's good news for gamers as it proves that the console is in production, thereby indicating that it will launch on time in November. It also seems to indicate that they are forecasting to at least meet if not exceed their launch estimates as well. I mentioned yesterday in another topic that if they do exceed the production estimates and can ramp up production quickly, that may help to lower the price at launch. Possibly be a large "Krazy Ken" announcement at TGS? Hmm...

This would mean that the PS3 final specs are finalized and they will have to tell the world about the hardware. If they downgrade the PS3 on anyway they will get flamed for 4 months. They don't want people to be exposed to bad press about the PS3; they know that Sony fanboys would buy the PS3 even if it's not half of what they promised.

sony r such a arrogant company, all respect and loyalty for them has been pissed into the wind.

andy capps6581d ago

What does that have to do with this topic?

THELANDSOFSAND6581d ago

maybe he's pissed at sony's attempt to censor and control media reports. i know i am.

jedicurt6581d ago

you are so right, how dare sony go after people for violating confidentiality agreements!!!!!!!!! How Terrible this company must be for making sure that companies and employees follow the contracts that they sign. Please, MS did and does do the exact same thing, just the don't get mentioned for it, cause sony is the company on the bashing block right now.

Wake up your morons, this is normal business practice

THELANDSOFSAND6581d ago

i dont remember MS throwing a hissy fit and threatening to sue THE MEDIA about reporting rumors. this is just sony trying to control their bad PR.

Watapata6581d ago

Sony isn't the one threatening to sue the media, that would be Asus...it says right there in the article...maybe you should open your eyes a little, blind allegiance is NEVER a good thing...

THELANDSOFSAND6581d ago

asus are under contract for sony and represent sony. they are also producing sony's product.
maybe you are blind?

Watapata6581d ago

They are under NDA with Sony, but they in no way represent Sony. Yes they are manufacturing one of Sony's products and likely would like to keep things that way and so in their own self-interest are threatening legal action. There is nothing, however, to indicate that this legal action was at all prompted by Sony.

Shaolin Monks is a forgotten gem. I would love to see a new one, or a remake of the old.

That game was actually goated. It was the first time ever that I actually tried to get good at a fighting game. Unfortunately the online connection was so dogshit it made it hard to enjoy and eventually I gave up. Haven't really played much fighting games since.

Unions in gaming are necessary fr fr

montebristo1d 9h ago

I used to be anti-union, it kills productivity, investment and turns product mediocre. Their games suck anyways though so what was lost? Might as well get their people paid until they are dissolved.

shinoff21831d 8h ago

Unions are necessary regardless of how you feel. You know how fked the working class would be without them. As if we're not already.

montebristo1d 7h ago

No they aren’t, regardless of how you feel. Unions make zero sense for skill based labor. They are for people who press a button every 10 seconds on an assembly line. “working class” is a made up term. I don’t care about corporations or developers, I just want good games lol. Killing your incentives to appease the lowest common denominator doesn’t lead to great games imo

montebristo1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

I wasn’t trying to be offensive if I came off that way. The Union is an old mentality and I can see their usefulness but also the danger. We’re in the age of AI and robots and skill based labor. Unions can be dangerous these days. You could replace your entire workforce in one move. Checkmate. Look to the kiosk replacing workers in the 20 dollar minimum wage era.

Well run businesses don’t need unions. If you need a Union that business won’t survive anyway. Unless it’s propped up by the government with corporate welfare (which is the real issue). If you’re not going to spend some on your workers (Amazon, Google) then your welfare is cut off. No tax breaks. All you put together don’t match their wealth and resources, the union is a traditional memory at this point and counterproductive with this new enemy we face. They need a flying elbow from the top ropes. And by “working class is a made up term” I just mean we’re not a class system and even CEO Bobby Kotick puts in a days work lol. Or did.. It’s just a vague term that doesn’t mean anything no offense lol. People say “middle class” but that can change quick right? Up or down. That’s not a “class system”.
