Tumblebugs 2 takes a very successful (and overcrowded) genre and adds some new power-ups and flashier graphics to the familiar formula. Other than those upgrades, there is nothing here that cannot be found in countless other similar games... on the PC. Here on WiiWare there are only two games of this genre to choose from: this and Magnetica Twist. Given that choice, Nintendo Life is confident that Tumblebugs 2 is the wiser choice for everyone if only because the pointer-based controls are so intuitive compared to Magnetica's weird twist on controller options.
Even so, buyers should beware, as there are fewer options included here than in Magnetica Twist, including a complete lack of multiplayer, and the difficulty curve is not beginner friendly.
The Wii library continues to grow. With so many unique design opportunities afforded by its motion-capable controllers, the ridiculous sales success that's put a system in millions upon millions of homes across the world and the the fact that new, young studios can break into the action more easily now than ever before, it's easy to understand why that software total keeps on climbing.
Nintendo's digital download destination, the Wii Shop, is expanding particularly quickly -- thanks to it serving as a virtual sandbox for game creators to incorporate the Wii's capabilities into downloadable titles. Or maybe it's just an easy way to get simple Wii ideas into gamers' hands without going the much more expensive retail route.
From the review:
"Tumblebugs 2 is one of many ball-popping adventure games, a genre that surprisingly hasn't seen much action on the Wii despite its immense popularity on the PC. Of course, this work's greatly to its advantage because while it nearly drowns in the competition on the PC, it stands as one of the top contenders on the Wii. And rightly so because regardless of the number of competing titles, it is actually one of the better games available in this particular genre."
When will developers learn that card games are meant to be played with actual cards?!
yeah, solitaire doesn't sound like a big sell to me, since it comes free on any computer haha
