The Sims was one of the first games I actually owned (I had a mountain of pirated PS1 games). I was like 9 or 10 when it came out, and oh how much fun I had burning the neighbourhood families alive in thie hot tubs :)
Casual or not, you can't deny the impact that the series has had on gaming. Plus the original Sims (or even better, The Sims 1 and it's 7 expansions as a whole) is really one of the most timeless games out there. I still regularly pop in The Sims: Complete Collection when I'm feeling a bit bored.
Too bad the series is really starting to slow down. I hope it is allowed to eventually die a noble death and doesn't become the next Need for Speed. :(
