Why Forza 2 Is The Most Accessible Driving Sim Ever

GWN editor Richard Manley writes, "Forza Motorsport 2 is an incredible game and here's why. Previously, driving simulators such as this appealed only to the hardcore crowd. With Forza 2, Turn 10 have created a game that is easily accessible to non-gamers. By enabling the driving aids, a person who has never played a game before in their life can grab hold of the Xbox 360's wireless racing wheel and churn out some respectable lap times.

I know this because I've handed the game over to complete newbies and watched them come to grips with the driving engine in no time at all. I'm not saying the game is easy to master - far from it. With driving aids disabled, Forza 2 offers such depth of play that it will last hardcore gamers many months.

But it's also incredibly easy to pick up and play simply because the cars do what you'd expect them to do in real life. Where most games require you to learn their intricate handling models which are not realistic at all, Forza 2 equates to real driving, and that is something most people of driving age already have significant experience in."

The driving feels so right in this game you can't wait to get home from work knowing you can drive a 5-hundred thousand dollar car and feel it and get a tast of what these machines can do in real life nothing comes close. I love how differnent cars handle so different you have to consider them as if your in them to learn how to drive the wide and diverse cars line-up. You can not get use to one car and win races and jump in another thinking have mastered driving in Foza 2.

Drink a RedBull while playing this game because it will wear you out mentally as if driving in real life.

And you don't have to be a hardcore tuning fan to enjoy it. Everyone can pick it up and start winning races in 10 mins. That's what I like the most. If you don't feel like spending hours finetuning your car you don't have to. And it really doesn't make you feel like you're missing some part of the game. Good times.

@DrunKao - Hahaha! You're probably right (I hope you are). But you gotta love Swiss Toni, he's one with the ladiezzz.

Jenzo, I think it might be your avatar. People might not want to see that face over and over and over again, lol. XD

And just like he says in the article, if you can drive, you can get into Forza and do OK.
My 52yr old mother came to visit me a couple of weeks ago and I had her take a seat behind the wireless racing wheel.
She did terrible on her first 4 laps (in a "D" class car of course), but as she realized that it wasn't much different than real driving, she was staying on the road, and taking the turns with pretty good precision.
By the end of the afternoon, I had bumped her up a couple of car classes, and she was actually putting the gas pedal to the floor.
It's an amazing driving sim with ultra-realistic physics.
I can't wait to get home and play it, seriously.

My god! Power of green for once i 100% agree with everything you just said! The game rocks. If you love cars you owe it to yourself to play this game with the ms wheel and 5.1.

I'm sorry but no driving game will be the best when there are about half the populus who think differently. That being said I am neither... I'm not a hugh fan of driving games (cuz I suck I can admit it) but I'll still pick em up for my friends who do enjoy them.

That being said what do you guys think about Forza is this a good 'bring this game out when racing buds are over' or should I stay with Project Gothom (gothem?)

PS360WII4732d ago

hey I was asking a question! How do you disagree with a question?

God of Gaming4732d ago

Prob because of your first comment.... duh

PS360WII4732d ago (Edited 4732d ago )

ah the first comment that is so true. No game can be considered the best. It's true! Just like a top 10 list gets picked apart because they might of forgotten about something that so and so liked or that this guy wanted in. It'll be an ongoing arguement over which is better when in fact it's only a matter of personal preference. I'm sure out of a million people asking what is better it'll end up 50/50. Could be anything really or it could end in a landslide of 80/20 but still can't be considered the best because 20% said no. The only way one thing is the best is if it has 100% of the votes.

Now my vote does not matter for this game seeing as I stated before I'm no good at racing games. They are fun to watch but I don't like to play em. Yet I'm sure there is someone out there in the world who doesn't think this game is the best and therefore would make this game not the best.

Now back to my question. Is this a good sit down and party game or should I just wait for good old PG#?

Forza 2 is the best racing sim I've ever played as well. Yes, there are better looking games out there, but none achieve the depth, the features, and the spot-on driving physics of Forza 2.

Diselage4731d ago

The first forza was the same way though, it's a nice sim game no denying it.

It's great for games like Forza 2 (360) and F1 (PS3) to include driving aid. It makes the game accessible to more gamers and yet hardcore pros can still turn off that feature for extra challenge.

I think all games of all genre should include a wide range of difficulty settings to make their games appeal to a wide range of gamers (I'm looking at you Ninja Gaiden, wink wink).
