Or from a different view point, the lead is a man with boobs.

your both wrong... its a female possessed by a male demon.

DevilVergilX3196d ago (Edited 3196d ago )

I am just hopping they make her/he a true female in the end of the game in both japanese and english version...

Xof3196d ago

Eh... shemale in any context means no-buy for me.

I did see some comparisons between the two versions--PS3 version had a typically effiminate-looking villain type, whereas the 360 version had a typically stupidly-over-the-top muscled brute. Not real subtle, those Japanese, are they?

Seriously--a chick with a penis? Who on Earth thought that idea up--and better yet, who approved the idea? Seriously, who on this planet thinks gamers are sitting around thinking, "I wish there were more prickgirls in gaming,"?

Seriously? Who thought this'd drive up sales? This is about as niche as niche gets.

I'm confused about this game, there's a version that is going to be released only in Japan, and then there's another version exclisive for the rest of the world, and the main character is a transexual? WTF?

CryofSilence3195d ago (Edited 3195d ago )

The main character is Nier and is not the hermaphrodite. The hermaphrodite is Kainé. Here are pictures of her/him:

I'm not sure to what extent the hermaphroditism is, but to my understanding, she is merely possessed by a male demon. (I forgot the Japanese romaji word, but it starts with an f.)

Think of Tira from the Soul Calibur series. I'm not sure if that's the case with Kainé, but if it is, it's not an uncommon trend.
